Imagine. if you can... hearing this on NPR with a spoken play-by-play delivered in oh-so-perfect and concise words, while the poor commentator is trying to stifle his own laughter.
once, Fred Mills and we stayed at the same hotel. In Tatui Brasil. (2003). He wanted to meet me, sought me out, was super attentive. He presented me with the recorded CD, invited me to his presentation, but he didn't compare. I didn't know anything about him or his job. I still have the CD.
He missed part of the story at the beginning. I've seen them perform this live. PART of it is an explanation that they have each previously been part of orchestras playing for ballet performances, but since they would normally be in the orchestra pit, they never actually SAW the performance! So they prepared for this work, and had long conversations with the former ballet choreographer. They would play a few bars of the music, and the choreographer would explain what would be happening in that part. Working through it this way, THIS is their interpretation.
I've not watched it yet (this century), but I'm pretty sure you're talking about the "Love Theme from Romeo et Juliet", aka "Romeo & Juliet Fantasy Overture"< by P.I. Tchaikovsky.
I never thought I'd ever see this again. It's just as funny now as it was all those years ago.
Thanks for posting it!
How can you not love the Canadian Brass??? Talented and funny - what more could you want???

So this wasn't just something they made up? I thought they just chose a piece (or pieces of pieces) and started imitating dance to it.
