Love the airship map, but what a hard map to get a win on! I played these settings for the first time yesterday for a few hours and only won one game. Definitely a challenge to overcome! Good to see games where you don't win, for exactly the same reasons I didn't too. Thanks for the vid pal!
I get a decent winrate here but nothing like EU
This game would have been fine if purple played normally.
I feel like airship with blizzards is like Alcatraz since it is so linear but just bigger

I’m surprised people aren’t happy with this game. Pete is much more skilled than a lot of us, but when you’re playing this many games sometimes he’s just gonna get unlucky and lose. Maybe there were some misplays that cost him the win, but that’s just how it is sometimes. He still snagged a 2nd place while starting in the last position. Also Idm when pete doesn’t win. If he only posts his wins then we’re gonna get bored of his RUclips wins cause we will always know he’s gonna win and there’ll be no surprise. Side note I really think last positions should get one or two extra troops for their caps
Airship is very choked up already, blizzards just make it ridiculous. I think adding Stable Portals might make it a lot better. There would be portal pockets locked inside of blizzard blocked areas, and capping on such a portal would be great.
I feel like stable portals may help get just that extra bit of connectivity that helps prevent the extremely easy card-blocking nature of the layout
Hey Pete! Just a question why didn’t you cap the wheel with the 3 starting troops? Would have had the wheel a better bonus than the noob corner, still bad but 🤷♂️
waste of troops, green would have rinsed that within few turns so the bonus wouldn't have made up for units lost
@orrefis not necessarily with pink bombing green round 1. Might've been an instant upgrade

Being in the last seat is rough on this map.
That one was rough Pete, I understand the mentality of playing for a higher place but bending the knee to green so quickly was way too submissive. I expected that 26 stack you had to push out. Airship is to linear and caps are pointless unless they guard a huge pocket on this map. Either way you’re definitely going to get some engagement with this one. Well done 👍
Your work is highly appreciated, Pete. Keeps me sane during my long 12 hour days on hard epoxy floors at this manufacturing job I hate.
Question for you: I've noticed you tend to play with ingenuity when in disadvantageous positions, using clever strategy to get out of them. Have you ever tried doing so from an advantageous position just to see much more quickly you can win?

I’m shocked you didn’t go for the green cap after magenta slammed 8 troops into it. definitely seemed like the right play to me so i’d be curious to hear why you didn’t
We don't know who's cap that is, if it's a cap and how many troops are on it.
It's a great play if it is a cap I can steal and hold but it eats my first turn if I can't
@@FreePete fair enough. I think it’s quite likely that was a cap because if not it would need to be a random stack of at least 4 for pink to fail the roll and even then losing the roll would be quite unlikely, and I would probably guess it would’ve taken out at least a few troops on the capital. I’m just not too sure about trying to secure a plus 1 being so important. sure it might eat your first turn, but I think putting even one additional troop on your cap would’ve kept it safe, and you had the opportunity for a plus two and an extra capital. you probably could’ve taken the plus one behind your cap later.

i'm over airship now. it's a linear map that plays out exactly the same every time. left player who won their side of the board verses the right. You cap a +1 maybe a +2, never get more than 6 troops while by the third turn someone is getting + 20 and you will never displace them. With EU advanced most bonuses even with blizzards aren't linear. you dont need a god cap to snowball. you can cap a +4 and chill. Here you win or lose by the 3rd turn every game.

I really dislike this map with blizzards. I feel like the is map as the negotiation game would be fun
KP is THE G.M. but in this game I and IMHO I feel like the plan capping on that two in the corner was always going to be a passive game of hope. The riskier one-cap further out seemed like a better option - it could be rolled... but it could survive! ... then again KP pulled out a 2nd from nothing : )

It seems like this map really limits your ability to interact with the board if your later in the turn order. You just don't want to risk a 4 cap with how many troops everyone starts with...

Pete, you giving up on the red kill is what ultimately cost you (and us) in having a more interesting game.
Yeah I was surprised to see he didn't jump on that. I guess he wanted to farm 1 more card, but I still don't think it was worth the risk of someone else snatching the kill.
I don't know how much missing the red kill affected the outcome, but Pete was certainly more confident than I would have been to leave that Red kill sitting there on 4 cards assuming nobody would take it when they knew it was there.

"this game didn't really hold my attention Pete."
Or
"I usually enjoy these games but this one didn't feel right to me."
Both of those are polite truthful statements.
What you said was the equivalent to saying
"You are no longer fun, you've wasted my time and now you owe me."
For how old you are, you should be able to give constructive criticism. For example, maybe these settings would be more entertaining with fog off so we can see what's happening

When playing on mobile, I've lost connection twice so far, and when I got back in the game, it wouldn't let me place troops anymore so it's focused me to quit 😢 might have happened to purple.
Its happend to me a lot so frustrating. Especially when your in a winning position .

What I would have done differently is follow up on magenta suicide turn 1, green attacked a lot turn 1, chances are that cap was really low after the suicide. I was actually surprised you didn’t try it, as you had a bad cap and the only one who knew of your cap was magenta.
That might have ended up getting you a lower position, but imo it would be more playing to win.
I love most of your video’s Pete but this one was hard to watch. From such a talented player this game screamed submissive, not enjoyable to see😢 can’t win them all but I like to see you try.
