- 191Movies.Com likes this movie for so many reasons. You've probably watched The Guns Of Navarone more times than you can remember. It's one of those movies that shows up a lot on television, lately these days on Turner Classic Movies and a few turns on Cinemax. The Guns Of Navarone is a 191 Movie because the sheer level of craftmanship keeps drawing you back time after time. Every scene, especially the one shown here, is a ticking clock. Beautifully photographed and expertly cut, frame after frame. The great cast includes the always-terrific Gregory Peck and Anthony Quinn, not to mention David Niven, Stanley Baker and Irene Papas. I saw this movie in the sixties along with my father and grandfather in a theatre in Calcutta. Recently I saw it again with my daughter and grandson. The magic still lingers!

Truly you are blessed!
Great memories to have
My father was only 18 when he took his girlfriend/future wife/my mother to see this fresh in the cinemas. They both raised me to love the sweeping epic films of their youth, and having grown up on films of the 70's-90's, I can say that I am honored to have watched THE GUNS OF NAVARONE and its kind. I consider TGON to be among the most perfect action/WW2 dramas of the 60's.

Absolute gold! It's there with "The Eagle has Landed" and " Where Eagles Dare"
And Mr.Peck' greek pronciation is fabulous, being an Aglosaxon
Blessed son u r!
Super sir. You ans blessed
This is one of those films that if you stumble across it when flicking through the channels you finish up watching the whole thing, even if you've seen it 50 times already.
A bit like Zulu or The Great Escape!
Lol yeah I stumbled on this HITS channel and ended up watching the whole movie, I was like 3/4 part of the movie and now I'm scheduled to watch this from beginning

I remember seeing this great film at a drive-in with my parents and brothers in 1961. What a tremendous cast and what a dramatic conclusion to the film!
Even then as a little kid, I thought Gia Scala was incredibly beautiful. Sadly, Ms. Scala died much too young.
The less said about the so-called sequel, the better.
And Where eagles dare
One of the greatest movies ever. Some of the best actors ever.
😂😂😂😂 Stories. Fiction . Hollywood
Never get tired of watching this movie 🎉🎉🎉
When my nephew was very young, he would ask me if we could watch the "Guns of Never Wrong" !
All time classics , you never get tired even today of seeing that movie
One of this “boomer’s” favorite all-time WW2 movies. No crazy, gonzo, muscle-bound “Seal Team-6” Arian Superman types. Just a group of tough men who looked and sounded like the ones we grew up around...our fathers...who had fears, vulnerabilities, a hatred of war but a dedication to duty.
I worked at a theater in Chicago as an usher. I saw this picture over 150 times!!! Great movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How fortunate you are!
One of my favourites. LUCKY YOU.
Most WWII Movies of 50s 60's 70's 80s 90s till present are great. Respects from Sam India
I worked as an usher in 1967 and had to watch " To Sir With Love" 150 times. I'm okay though...im Okay... I'm......
One of my favorites as well!
One of my all time favorite movies! You can't go wrong with Peck, Niven and Quinn!

Those were the days when huge Hollywood blockbusters would have multip!e talents? Check out the credits in films like "the longest day" like a whos who of hollywood?
Amen, brother. AMEN.
Don’t forget about Quayle.
One of the best casts ever.
Cliff climbing by Gregory Peck and "I am a poor fisherman" acting by Anthony Quinn will ever remain in memory. A great movie.
He was one of the greats....Peck...

The bridge on the river quare
There are so many great scenes in this movie. The whole interrogation scene is memorable but Anthony Quinn's performance is a classic. Also the scene when Anna is killed when exposed as a traitor. The argument between Peck and Niven definitely cuts to the bone!
My father's favorite movie he talked about it with twinkle in his eyes all the time, he passed away one year ago
who passed away, the movie? Or the twinkle??

One of the greatest war movie of all time, with wonderful performances of Gregory Peck, David Niven, Anthony Quinn, and Irene Papas !!
Gregory Peck saying fantastic in Greek was hilarious 😆
I saw this action blockbuster during my college days in 1994. Real masterpiece movie !
Giants of the screen Peck, Niven, Quayle, Quinn, Pappas, Baker,,,,,, Epic.!!
Agreed. It's hard to imagine a more talented cast in one movie.
You could never put a cast like this together again. Perfect movie in every way

That was an E boat! Clear the sea 🌊 lanes of the Kriegsmarine.
If you haven't seen this movie, then see it. If you have seen it, see it again. This is what action film making is all about. All of the major actors in this film are at the top of their craft and the top of their careers.
GREAT MOVIES IN THE SIXTES mag7 G E. BULLET T.K.A.M.B.PHYCO I.H.T.W. S.P. B.C. P.T. T.G.B.U.
I remember somewhere back in the early Nineties, the BBC (known for repeats), actually repeated this classic film to death.
Anthony Quinn with the sniper rifle on the mountain remains my favorite scene
I remember this film like it was yesterday. This boat scene really blew everyone's minds in the movie theater (does that tell you how old I am??). I just bought it on DVD, and it still holds up today, amazing. Particular kudos to the incredible soundtrack too, written by Dimitri Tiomkin, probably one of the best film composers who ever lived.
tiffsaver
I'm glad you mentioned the soundtrack! He is amamazing composer and this is simply one of his best!
What's your opinion about Von Ryan's Express? It's an awesome movie with great soundtrack too.
@@NightRider0101
Not a big Frank Sinatra fan, so I missed this one. I think he was a far better singer.
Dimitri Tiomkin also wrote the film score for Howard Hawks’ classic sci-fi thriller, “The Thing from Another World.”
That was an era of great stars who could act.Gregory Peck, Anthony Quayle, Anthony Quinn, David Niven and Stanley Baker in the same film. No wonder we get nostalgic.
Gold cast.
A great movie of my high school days in 1960s.
Superb scene from an all time classic. My favorite though would be the Storm scene and the team climbing the cliff, 15-20 minutes of sheer brilliance. Of course every part of this movie is a classic, especially the scenes between Peck, Niven and Quinn, 3 actors at the top of their form.
You hit it, as in "the nail on the head", Ratnakar, sir! Why is J. Lee Thompson always ignored by the film historians? I have no idea, as he is technically a great actors' director, and nobody has ever shot action like this man has! With Carl Foreman's terrific script, Thompson was called in to replace another director (perhaps Anthony Mann, another great director) and with no time to prepare, Tompson did the most bang-up job in film history!
ruclips.net/video/8AKwlcPBJGs/видео.html
@@cotyjarrett wasn’t Foreman blacklisted during the 50s? This musta been his first filmed script after those dark days
When the demolitions guy throws the C4. “Hey man, a grenade is one thing but we’re parked alongside. Calm down.”
🤣 That's exactly what I thought! Guess they got a little excited at the taste of impending victory.
ha ha ha ha
If Hollywood does it, it can't be real.
The explosives would have been Comp B during this time period
@@gregorysuarez7978 I think the British used Comp C/C4 during WWII. Some other variants. That said - a demolitions expert as Miller is meant to be would more than likely have his own concoctions.
One of the greatest movies.Climax was superb when we watched it in 70 mm wide screen.
The Guns of Navarone, superb film of Hollywood I had seen in my young age. Superb performance of the great Gregory Peck, Anthony Queen and David Nivan. Thanks for providing us this best scene of this film.
I saw this classic with my father Davis Perez and my mother Angelina Flores who just passed away from dementia on 12/18/17 in 1961 at the State theatre in Bay City, Tx back when going 2 a movie when going 2 the cinema was a real treet.
Guns of Navarone seen in on school days in a word I will say a film to see and remember for years. From Muniprasad.
My favorite scene is when Tony Quinn "loses his nerve" in the Nazi interrogation scene. What a truly brilliant actor he was. Along with Greg Peck, they have starred in my favorite movies of all time. What does that tell you?

The look on Anthony Quinn's face when the soldier whacked his arm... all great actors, great movie
Used to watch movies like this on TV at Christmas back in NZ. Now living in Germany, not so much LOL
Filmed in the AEGEAN SEA AAND ON THE ISLAND OF RHODES IN GREECE.....
I remember the almost sailing reports about making the film reading them on the newspapers or hearing about the making on the radio
It had a psychological effect on the nation for acknowledging the important part that Greece played in the WW2 and the resistance against Italians Germans and Bulgarians as occupying forces for 4 years leaving a devastated country with the highest percentile loss of human lives in Europe
I’m English and live in south east Bulgaria. I’m only just discovering the truth about the occupation of Greece, the torture and summary executions of more than 40,000 Greeks in WW2. Truly shocking.
We visited NIs in Serbia. Fifteen thousand civilians were shot by the Germans in reprisals for partisan attacks. Crimes like that took place in every town and city across the country.
Truly horrifying!
Very fine movie to watch.Great acting, music n direction.Gregory Peck n Anthony Quinn are really superb.
That was so intense, I can almost feel the heat from here.
I could feel it too because this was connected to a laser projector and Dolby atmos sound in my room.
Still love this movie, another favorite: The dirty dozen.
Are you single?
I love the Alistair McClean novels that where made into movies in the 1960s. The Guns Of Navarone was followed by Ice Station Zebra in 1968 and Where Eagle Dare in 1969.
I have watch this classic film 7 times in my 62 year age and can't forget.superb and excellent.
a movie like this can never be made again
Childhood memories...my dad made me watch this movie when I was 10...I am 40 now
I have the entire collection of Alistair MacLean novels, except two or three. I had read all the novels as a member of lending library but couldn't get some of them in my collection . Really mesmarizing and stunning dialogues, both serious and full of comedy. Especially in the books Guns of Navarone. And Force 10 from Navarone, the dialogues of character Dusty Miller, are the most enjoyable.
ruclips.net/video/8AKwlcPBJGs/видео.html
I saw this movie several times, first in cinema, then on CD, DVD. This should tell my age. About 8 years ago when my wife and I planned to travel to Europe, I told her my wish to visit Navarone where the big gun was. My wife laughed her head off and said that it was a fake war story.
But it is still a great movie, no doubt ! I am watching it still today and consider it a true event in my mind.
Watched the movie when it came out on Calcutta. Huge wave coming and battering the boats will always remain in my memory
Ty for posting can't count the times I have seen this movie my all time favorite they don't make movies like this anymore
I am 65 and this I one of the WW2 movies I haven't seen. I will soon.
This movie remains on top of my war movies list for well over fifty years. “Where eagles dare” came close, but couldn’t make it. Storm Scene alone blows many of them away. I don’t know how these movie makers did the character building in those days man. Of course they were the true geniuses.

And Lawrence of Arabia and The Bridge on the Kwai river
@@cruscante yes those were great movies and I enjoy them all, but this movie in particular has something about it that I can’t put my finger upon, still remains on top after all these years. However I must say few on top have only point or two difference between them. They are all great. Thanks.

When I was seventeen I saw this movie ,and till now waiting for full movie.
I cherish and would love to watch all these old war movies. Guns of navarone, where eagles dare, etc.
All time classic a master piece , one of the favourite.
James Darren cool as ice with a Bren Gun under the sail. Wow, great scene...
@Bruno56 And the odd part as a hologram character in one of the Star Trek shows. (Think it was Deep Space 9)
And he was still cool as Jim Corrigan in T J Hooker.
The thing that impresses me about James Darren is he sings in Greek in one of the scenes in the movie, and as a Greek myself I have to say he pronounces the Greek words very well. Now in this scene with Gregory Peck(He talks in Greek to German officer ) you can tell by the way he speaks Greek that he is not Greek .The Greek words were not pronounced right.James Darren it seems took his role more seriously by singing a Greek song perfectly ,making sure to pronounce the words correctly .
tony quinn to me steals the picture.the interrogation scene is magnificent
It is a movie of early 1960s. I saw it ten years later. Out of thousands of action films I have seen during the five decades, most are forgotten. But I still remember it.
Great flick, saw it when I was 9yrs old with my Dad.
Ah, the life of a fisherman. Every day a new adventure!
I saw this when I was only 10.....great movie n stars.....now nearly 60 years later....still have great memories of it....and it's a classic....
Many carry lots of vivid memories! Tx 2 such fantastic creations!!
One of my favorites as a kid!!
The first time I watched this was with my dad and I had no clue what it was about. I was that small. The only thing I remember so well was the sound (sirens?) of the British fleet towards the end. But when I watched it again on my own this entire movie blew me away. For me this is one of the best out there.
I remember this film ..it was recorded on video cassette by my cousin ,I was barely 8 yrs old and always watched it whenever I went to their home in school holidays..couldn't understand but loved to see the ships and boats in splendid blue ocean...I still cherish the memories..those late 80' s and early 90' s were mesmerizing.

Alister MacLean wrote a masterpiece , after reading that book , saw the movie.
Spine chilling moments.
In 1992 I lived and worked in a small village in the Hindu Kush. this was the only English video in the whole village, needless to say I watched it multiple times but never got bored of it.
And, just to confirm that the approaching ship is carrying bad guys, someone is obligingly playing sinister music on the piano.

I watched this movie when I was 9 but I still remember it.
Hoje não temos atores como estes, uma interpretação soberba, Gregóry Peck , David Níven e Anthony Quen.
How many of these actors filmed one WWII film to then jump straight into another WWII film in a different region. I'm seeing the same faces everywhere, and boy, am I entertained by their performances!
These are the kind of warriors this country needs now.
The country has been betrayed from within by powerful interests who've used the offices and machinery of government for their own ends and to the detriment of everyone else. The damage done internally by these people (the massive debt-burden and the concomitant inflation, the export of jobs and the flooding of the country with cheap labour migrants, the run-down of national infrastructure, the massive spending on military hardware, the foreign wars that rarely go right,..: all this stuff wasn't the work of foreign enemies, of their armies and agents, but has resulted from a rigged, corrupt political/legal system and the corporate and high-financial interests that control it.
However, blowing up that boat so close to your wooden boat won't be such a good idea in reality.
