I hated giving my cat Atopica. She would foam at the mouth and seeing how stressed she was, I’d stop and leave the $100 bottle untouched.
But after buying cat food after cat food, and seeing her allergy symptoms get worse, I gave in and begun Atopica. Almost immediately, she’d get on-off fevers, elevated blood sugars, lost a lot of weight, couldn’t keep food down, lethargy. She’d also loose clumps of hair. Then she begun to vomit blood, rushed her to the vet, they diagnosed her with pancreatitis and did not tell me to stop her on Atopica.
It literally took ME going on the Atopica site to look at the adverse side effects where it all came to me and I stopped Atopica immediately. So sad the vet did not see this, and when I brought it to her attention, it was met with a “maybe”. 😪
She is now on all raw diet and is actually walking around again…! She likes to be pet and sleeps in with me now. So much poison in her little body that needs to be flushed out by good nutrients.

My vet is trying to get me to take this. I had previously tried this but stopped it because my cat became hostile to me when I came near him. What have you done for your cat since?

Thank you for sharing this info. I have an allergic (environmental per the tests) bulldog that just got moved from apoquel to this. I’m getting ready to make an appt with a local integrative vet. I want to get him off but don’t even know where to start. He’s also on meds for arthritis. Im sure his gut and whole system is so screwed up. My poor guy.

My dog has been on 50 mg daily Atopica since 2017 for thrombocytopenia. It caused major gingival overgrowth. She had two 12 week courses of azithromycin to shrink the gums in prep for dental surgery. We didn’t even get to the end of the second course and she went into kidney failure. Vets say it has nothing to do with the drugs. Even in advanced CKD and palliative care her internist has not discontinued the cyclosporine. I’ve been tapering her off it myself now.
Ironically, you posted this video the day she went into hospital and was diagnosed…which was also my birthday😢

What is the difference between Atopica and cyclosporine?
