Really great video’s!! I live in Sydney John and have a 2002 XK8 convertible. Do you have a video looking at how to fix the recline function of front seats? Cheers Chris
Hi John, Would it not be possible to rotate the motor shaft where it protrudes from the motor or are the yellow bits of plastic not fixed to the shaft ? Thanks for another great video.
John, I so enjoyed all of your videos. Being a certified technician myself I’m retired due to my coworker running me over at work. In pain daily. Anyway I bought a 2008 jag xk8. I bought it because I don’t know anything about it. Lol. I’m a Chrysler Jeep tech. This Jaguar is awesome. I’d love a calendar for 2022. Are they available? Cheers, Dave.
Hi David. I also enjoy a Jeep or two👍 Glad you are enjoying your Cat. I learn a little more about mine every day. Enthusiast designed, is I think the secret of their appeal. Calendars are still available via the web site👍 www.tothegarage.co.uk
too bad this doesn't work on the 2010 XKR turd. friggin electric motors have 4 wires. more stupid crap to figure out. i swear they make this stuff more and more complicated on purpose
@@ToTheGarage i figured it out. 4 wires, 2 are for some kind of range sensor, the other 2 are the motor wires. fortunately the motor wires are slightly larger diameter. was able to send 12V to the large wires and get the seat moving. just set it where it should be a left it there, not paying a fortune for new seat modules
@@ToTheGarage But if it’s a failed motor one can change it in this position since the seat (minus the sledge) is out and the motor is very accessable. Or are the bolts on the underside of it?
@@ToTheGarage the PM motors have a very low duty cycle in use and are very robust. I would be very interested in knowing how they actually fail (bearings, open windings, worn commutator, worn brushes, etc.).
some very useful tips and tricks. As a new XK8 owner, they are much appreciated
Thanks very much John. I store all your videos in my ‘watch later’ folder for future reference
Thanks Paul
Very good John. That's a neat solution if it should ever be needed.
Thanks Terry
Life saver John. Just followed your excellent instructions. Job done ✅
Glad it helped Mike.👍

Unfortunately not.😔 They are fixed sleeves and don't rotate
John, I appreciate your video but the wiring of my 2002 xk8 is different. I don't know where to apply the power to move the seat. Help

What is the most common cause of a dead seat? My passenger seat won't move.1 button makes a little buzzing noise. Thanks 2001xkr
Bad connectors or bad earth

Im not sophisticated enough to advise on a newfangled aluminium XK😁

A dodgy proposition at best. I would be highly unchuffed to have to do this job.
Its a bit of. a mare. And as I say quite a regular question I get. Fortunately most of the time its a loose connector rather than a failed motor
