    Excellent, clear explanation all the way through. One thought: The front cell-box retention plate could be fitted with longer bolts, compression springs, and appropriately sized washers to apply a fairly constant retention force on the cell stacks while allowing movement for thermal cycling.

      After internal shot-circuit and accumulating of H2. C2H2, CH4, C2H6 gases inside and ignition and chain reaction of all 8 cells in the raw, what will owner have to do to prevent such events ? How BMS can prevent internal short-circuit or accumulation of gases and thermal runaway ? Such explosion can destroy house.

    I would think you could easily add a circuit breaker. I would add one and perhaps a class T fuse, but I am a belt and suspenders type. Good review BTW. I have never had a cell bloat in 5 years, but I am of course very careful to USE A BMS! Provided you keep the cells in the operating range (2.5v to 3.65v) you should get only very minor bulging, not bloating.

    I bought the 280Ah kit. It is recognized by the Victron Cerbo as a Pylontech battery bank. The quality of the components seems alright and customer service is excellent.
    Only problem as of now is, the SOC is off and jumps. It shows 100% while the voltage is only 53V.
    It won't accept any more charge when it's at 100% and goes to standby.
    I haven't changed any of the standard parameters.
    Basen Green says this is a known fault and that they are currently working on debugging the firmware. Let's hope they fix it... I'll drop another comment once they do

    The back side of this battery housing appears to have openings which would allows for expansion in the belly area of each cell. So the front side (full) compression plate would serve no purpose. So in my professional opinion, if your goal is to prolong the life of your cells, I would avoid the purchase of this battery box and buy a box that provides for full cell compression.

    • @LithiumSolar
      @LithiumSolar  5 месяцев назад +1

      While you pointed out an interesting thing here, an aluminum-cased cell is not going to push out a hole like that... Sure, you might get an extra millimeter or two of expansion vs a solid back, but I think it's negligible. Also, the idea is not compression... it's just holding the cells in place.

      i did not mean whether it is balancing or not. what i think is important whether or not the BMS is capable of balancing dells. some of the balancers can't do it, unless the cells are brand new and already balanced before built in.

    • @LithiumSolar
      @LithiumSolar  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@ursodermatt8809 I see what you're getting at. I don't have an exact specification for this BMS, but they're typically 30-60mA. That is more than capable of keeping a 230Ah battery in balance. The instructions specifically state that you should have them balanced prior to assembly. This is true for practically every single battery, not just this particular case. If you have a cell that's self-discharging faster than the others, and so fast that the BMS cannot keep up, then that cell is faulty and should be replaced. Again, this is true with pretty much any battery out there.
