Although the details are still being finalized, defence sources say the federal government could contribute as much as $30 million to the plan, which was proposed at the opening of the Munich Security conference by Czech Republic President Petr Pavel.
Pavel's government said it has been able to source up to 800,000 shells of NATO-standard calibre, along with shells of other calibres, from unidentified, non-NATO countries. It says it needs financial support to get the ammunition to Ukraine.

Ever heard of the relationship between Artillery and casualties? If so, there is no way more Russians would have died in Avdivvka than Ukrainians. Any neutral military expert will confirm that Artillery is responsible for 80% of casualties. Ukraine lacks shells, Russia has abundant. There is of course the defensive advantage of 3 to 1 casualties that Ukraine has. But in Avdivvka the surplus of Russian soldiers undoes this. Russia also has air supremacy. Why, the strategy of the West worked perfectly?
The West already knew in 2008, when the idea of bringing Ukraine and Georgia into the western alliance was being pushed the first time, that Russia would most likely go to war over it. Georgia jumped the gun and got pounded to bits, but Ukraine managed to drag Russia into an 8-year long frozen conflict culminating in a 2 year-long hot war that cost Russia an incredible amount of people and military matarial, took a huge toll on its economy and allowed the West to demonize and isolate Russia from those nations in the West that at least tried to get along with them. Now Russia is so exhausted they won't be a problem when the US focuses on China. That Ukraine gets thrown to the wolves in that process was part of the plan from the beginning. Or have you forgotten how the US treated the Afghans, and the Kurds, and the Iraqis, and dozens of "allies" before that?

Russian ships hit with NATO weapons with NATO provided intelligence and targeting information are pale in comparison with what is happening in the front and honestly feels more like a PR attempt than anything else.

NATO pilots have absolutely no experience in fighting against integrated air defenses the likes Russia has.
Russian pilots have found and mastered the barriers and limitations of their aircraft and themselves.
They are battle hardened fighters with hours sod combat hours under their belt.
Their ground maintenance crews are well oiled machines.
Most of NATO pilots have never shot a bullet in anger.
Their bases and maintenance crews don't know what is to experience being bombed and fighting without air superiority and no communications.
Their tactics and planes are untested. They have never been to war.

I'm an EU citizen first and foremost. And I cannot believe the level of absurdity and madness the EU leaders are producing. Everything is about war mongering, and about Ukraine, while in the EU:
Cost of living crisis obliterated more than 100 million households moderate living standards, 25 million children are living in food insecurity meaning starving every day. 40 million EU citizens are living in severe poverty. None of these poor people got any cent of support from the EU. European Values: The poor can die, no one cares about them.
Unaffordable housing and rental prices reached the limit, where people in the EU cannot afford to have children and start a family. EU leaders doesn't care, about it. They let AirBnb rampage, and basically most of the people doesn't even think about having a family, without the possibility to secure the very basic needs for it. Do the EU provided support of any kind to EU citizens? Nope. While if you happen to be a ukrainian you got shelter, food, money granted by the EU. Good right?
How is it more important to spend 100 billion for instruments of killing and destruction, while ignoring the starving children and citizens of the EU?
How is it more important to save the investment of the top 1% in real estate, than the collapsing society, and demography crisis, caused by the insufficient supply in housing, letting corporations to buy all the supply, and ignoring the skyrocketing prices?
How is it more important to spend tens of billions for Ukraine's war, than securing the food production, than providing the very basics for the farmers.
How is it more important to serve the USA's interest over our own?????

Don't forget Russia is much poorer than any EU country, it is Russian citizens who will suffer the most from an ongoing deterioration of their public services. Perhaps you should direct your question at the Kremlin.
As for the war serving US interests, Russia has zero chance of occupying any US territory regardless of the outcome in Ukraine. Russia barely has a navy. Russia is obviously much closer to the EU and has designs on the territory of EU countries.

The West hasn't quit support, it's working around the slow production of ammunition.
The Canadian Government is spending $30 million to help get this done:
Although the details are still being finalized, defence sources say the federal government could contribute as much as $30 million to the plan, which was proposed at the opening of the Munich Security conference by Czech Republic President Petr Pavel.
Pavel's government said it has been able to source up to 800,000 shells of NATO-standard calibre, along with shells of other calibres, from unidentified, non-NATO countries. It says it needs financial support to get the ammunition to Ukraine.

Here in Canada we have homeless people, living costs are rising, our infrastructure and housing need big investments so the last thing we should do is throw more money at Ukraine, a good portion of which will go to Zelensky and his henchmen! Most likely Russia would agree to a peace settlement that would include transfer of Donbas and Ukrainian neutrality, similar to terms almost agreed in 2022 until Boris Johnson's interference ended the negotiations. Europe is not in a position either to support Ukraine given that its population is declining and aging and the German economy, the main engine of growth, is faltering.

  • @PerceivedREALITY999

Zelensky didn't try to prevent the conflict through diplomacy because he lacks honor and integrity.
In 2014 there was a coup. Soon after, there was a massacre in Odessa (dozens of people were burned alive). Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed. A civil war broke out due to the rise in ethnic tensions. For 8 years the Ukrainian military was indiscriminately shelling civilians living in Donbas.
If Zelensky honored the Minsk agreement and pledged neutrality, none of this would have happened. The 8 year civil war would have ended and Donbas would have remained part of Ukraine. War is the ultimate failure of diplomacy.
Zelensky admitted that Ukraine had no intention to honor the Minsk agreements.
Who didn't want peace? Who advised against the 2022 peace talks in April? Hint: someone visited Zelensky in Kiev at that time.
Russia's national security was compromised once nato began to expand eastwards. Russia clearly stated that Ukraine joining nato was a red line (November 2021) and unfortunately this concern was never taken seriously. The Russians openly stated: if nothing changes, we will be forced to act in order to defend our national security. Enhancing the national security of one country at the expense of another is unacceptable. The Russians have legitimate security concerns.
20th September, 2021. Ukraine launched military drills with US and NATO
NATO is not a defensive alliance. Nato illegally bombed Yugoslavia (a direct violation of the U.N. Charter).
We should never forget what they did to Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq etc.
Who blew up the pipeline causing an environmental disaster?
Zelensky banned all opposition and arrested a leading priest.
Zelensky tried to invoke article 5 under false pretenses. Remember the incident in Poland.
Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed.
Poroshenko said, “Our children will go to schools and kindergartens-theirs will hide in the basements”.
Russians will never forget the 2014 Odessa massacre. The whole world needs to know about it.
Why was Denis Kireev eliminated? He was a member of Ukraine's negotiating team during the peace negotiations. He wanted to help his country.
Ukraine has a hit list. They target artists, journalists and ordinary citizens. Hundreds of children are on this list. (13 year old Faina Savenkova was placed on this list.)
Pink Floyd's Roger Waters is on this list. Jimmy Dore (American stand-up comedian, podcaster) and Aaron Maté (Canadian writer and journalist) are on this list.
There is evidence that Ukrainian troops have been indiscriminately shelling civilians in Donbas. (they used petal mines and targeted areas where there was no military presence).
The azov troops trapped in the azovstal steelworks in Mariupol used human shields. They refused to allow civilians to leave despite of humanitarian corridors being present.
Russia held a proposed cease fire in order for the civilians to leave, but azov would not allow the civilians to leave.
Ukraine has committed many acts of terrorism (car bombs and other forms of assassination). Darya Dugina (journalist) RIP.
The first terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge killed the truck driver and the individuals in the adjacent car (innocent civilian victims).
The second terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge killed two parents and severely injured their young daughter.
I have done a lot of research and it took me a long time to write this comment. I have stated a lot of facts and I have given my honest opinion.
I have provided a brief summary of events that took place. In order to explain this whole situation in great detail, a book would need to be written.
Hopefully someone will write an UNBIASED book, stating facts and allowing the readers to form their own judgments. Everything I said can be fact checked and verified.

The information war for US public opinion is the most important front and the only front on which Russia can achieve victory in Ukraine. Which is why Putin got himself on a particular podcast the other day that has a direct line to rubes in the US.

I will adk Zelinski, was this worth it? Was wanting to be a enemy of Russia by joining NATO? Ukraine could have been a bridge between the East and West, but it chose to alienate Russia. Zelinski wantwd to eat at the same table as Biden and the EU, and he let his personal ambitions take over what was best for the people. The end result is loss of territory and 100s of thousands of Ukrainians dead.

When Ukraine was supplied with lots of arms and ammunition in 2023, it has failed miserably in the counter-offensive. And is losing territory.
So what has changed now for the West to conclude that this time around additional arms and ammunition will lead to better results for Ukraine?? Especially when Ukraine is facing a dire situation regarding manpower. The average age of the Ukraine military is 43 !! And the troops have been fighting for 2 years without a break. They badly need a rest. And forget additional troops, there are no men to relieve the troops on the frontline.
One feels that the desperate Western obsessions to deliver arms to Ukraine is quite illogical.

Most people don’t seem to understand that for NATO countries, the war in Ukraine is not a life or death situation. But to Russia, it is. If Ukraine wins the war, Ukraine will become a member of NATO, and in the next war, Russia will have to fight 33 countries, which outgun and outman Russia, a war that will end up becoming a nuclear war. To Russia, the war in Ukraine is the same as WW2, when Russia fought for its survival. So this is a war that Russia cannot lose, because if it does, Russia will be no more.
Another aspect that people seem to forget, Russia cannot stop fighting, currently, NATO cannot accept Ukraine into its ranks because Ukraine is at war. So as soon as there is a ceasefire or some kind of peace agreement, NATO can begin the process to accept Ukraine. That’s why Russia will not stop fighting until it wins the war or Ukraine will have to pledge to not join NATO.
The slow down of western aid, is just a tactical issue, the strategic part is the fact that aid is not going to help much if there are no soldiers left to fight. At the beginning of the war, the most motivated people signed up to fight, but they are now either dead or seriously wounded that they are no longer able to be on the front lines. The average age of a Ukrainian soldier is in the 40’s.
Germany is just now planning to spend at least 2% of its GDP on the military. It’s too late. The German army in the last 20 years has not been equipped or having enough working equipment. The war in Afghanistan clearly showed that the German army was not a capable fighting force. It’s the same with England, when the armed forces only has a measly 70,000 troops.
In many aspects, this is a war between NATO and Russia fought by non- NATO troops. The war will only end if NATO negotiates with Russia and come to an agreement that Ukraine will serve as a DMZ between them.

More than a strategy, the West simply needs more WILL and RESOLVE to support Ukraine. If you want to equate more will & resolve with "a strategy", then OK. Whatever. With a roughly ~ 9-15x (or greater) advantage over Russia and its supporters (Iran & North Korea) in the fundamental GDP numbers underlying this war of attrition, the collective democratic world can help Ukraine deliver a slam-dunk win over Russia. It WOULD be a no-contest situation if they had the requisite willpower.
