2019 Triumph Speed Twin Review - Triumph Sydney - Peter Stevens

- This week I was invited to review the ALL NEW 2019 Triumph Speed Twin from Triumph Sydney (Peter Stevens Motorcycles).
I Picked up the Speed Twin from Triumph Sydney in Tempe, and I was able to spend some time on urban and suburban streets in the Inner West of Sydney, before taking the Triumph Speed Twin on some higher speed limited roads to get a better feel.
#speedtwin #triumph #modernclassic
All in all I found the Speed Twin to be exceptional in almost every way. It handled the slow speed, tight maneuvering streets easily, and at higher speeds it truly shone as a capable longer distance bike too.
The 1200cc engine in the Speed Twin really performed seamlessly, and with the added Vance & Hines pipes it purred beautifully.
If you'd like to test ride these amazing 2019 Triumph Speed Twins, head on down to your local dealer, but if you're in Sydney be sure to call Triumph Sydney and book in a test ride now.

Very professional & nice review about one of the nicest twin bikes ever ...thx lot, down under 🙏🏻 .... just drove it 2 weeks ago here in Germany (even) with the original exhaust just a wonderful feeling and strong sound - probably my next bike 😍👌🏻✨🏍🌻
Thanks for your message. I'm glad you love it too. All the best from us down here
What do you think of the look of the new Speed Twin? Personally I love it, one of the nicest looking modern classics available.
Ideally I wanted a Bonneville T120 with similar specs as this bike looks small to me
@Throttle Downunder I love retro styled motorcycles. The Speed Twin does not only have killer looks but looks a s if it is a true power roadster as well. Maybe not a quick or as good at handling as the Triumph Street Triple R but to me it is the one I would purchase (based mainly on its looks).
I think the Thruxton R looks prettier.
Thank you just bought this today was lamenting the 900rs but wanted this
Hope you enjoy Gavin
wicked review mate, i agree it definitely has the best looks on the market
Thanks mate I appreciate your message. She does look good
My next bike....hopefully 🙂
Great review mate ✌
G'day Frank, you won't be disappointed.
And thank you for your kind words. 👍
Mine too!
good honest review this bike is on my list for next bike alongside the z900 rs cb1000r and katana.could you review any of those bikes possibly.cheers from stornoway scotland.
G'day. Thanks for the message. Here is a link to the Z900RS review. ruclips.net/video/n0gLSPyrsFo/видео.html
Love it a lot, I'll work on getting the CB but I don't think the Katana has arrived here in Oz just yet. I'll do my best.
I love it I’m a 70yr old rider ..... it’s brilliant.... Fred in the uk
G'day Fred, yes it's certainly a great bike. Glad you are still riding. Stay safe 👍
Throttle Downunder ....still going , didn’t get on a bike till I was 60 .... then the speed twin for 70th..... thanks for your reply enjoy your riding ...
@@FredWilbury and you aswell Fred. Great to hear from you.
I'm 65 I love hearing about older guys still riding. I ride a 17 Thruxton r with a fairing just beautiful well riding bikes.
Great channel! Lol 😂 subbed
Thank you.
Nice review thanks. What sort of economy could one expect? It only has a 15 litre tank like my Thunderbird 900 and the bike's old tech carbs will only give me about 250km range which is a bit restrictive for touring... While I love the 270degree firing order sound of the new twins (like my TDM900) I really get a buzz from the sound of a triple on the throttle (hmm, maybe that's why I only get 17km/litre...).
Haha good sounds = good revs and bad fuel consumption in any bike or car 😃. Regarding the Speed Twin, I didn't have it for long enough to do a real world test so I can only go by the specs sheets on the website. But with the modern tech I'm sure you'll get some decent distance.
Enjoyed your review. My recommendation before spending money on pipes is to decat with a X-pipe (Meerkat is an Oz brand). Then see if it’s loud enough (unless you don’t like the original pipes of course). Trying to decide between this and Thruxton R. Cheers.
Both good choices. The body position of the Thruxton R I don't like, that's why i love this one. That's just personal preference
have you ridden the Harley roadster? how would this compare? I love its look but I feel this would turn better and you can lean farther if necessary.
I have not, but I really love the look of the Roadster though
@@ThrottleDownunder me too, I feel like this would be more ease of mind , so basically a more of a Free feeling ride , less worries. I also love the bobber but I feel it would have the same issues as the roadster. But I'm curious if the bobber power delivery Is more exciting than this one, maybe not, considering the freedom this one has in movement.
The stock pipes sound great they most likely put them on as they won't sell many Vance and Hines after they hear the stock.
G'day Daniel, you are probably right.
@@ThrottleDownunder This obsession with changing everything as soon as you own the bike is ridiculous. Like sheep following the herd, nobody content with what the manufacturer has made, have to be different...except when everyone does it you're all the same. Pathetic. Tail tidy, bar end mirrors [standard on this one for the pricks], and an aftermarket exhaust of course.
ewooll That’s the joy of making a bike yours. Personalisation.
So what are your thoughts comparing this with the Z900rs?
Both great bikes. Z900RS is more performance oriented, Speed Twin more a classic cruise along with bucket loads of power
Gloomy day!!! you should experience Irish weather lol
Haha true, that's why our ancestors stole bread to be sent to Australia
what about the Speed Twin compared to Thruxton? tx for the video.
G'day Rob, I should have a Thruxton coming up in the next few weeks and I'll let you know.
@@ThrottleDownunder from what I've heard the Speed twin is the better bike
Wow!!!! you are far away from me. I'm in northeastern Brazil!
That certainly is a distance
Great review. The tank holds 14.5L not 16.5L
You are right, thank you for the correction. I got mixed up with a previous bike I rode that day.
All the best. Rob.
What is your fascination with the exhaust note, mate?
G'day Ron, I just love a nice sounding exhaust. I know not everyone does, but these videos are all based on my opinions, and we certainly all have differing opinions.
@@ThrottleDownunder I enjoyed the video and just had to yank your chain a bit as we Yanks would say
@@Ronbassettphd Thanks Ron. I'm glad you enjoyed it. What part of the US are you from?
@@ThrottleDownunder glad there are no hard feelings. I have been a full time traveler for the last 19 years and spend a lot of time in the desert region of Southwest New Mexico.
Beautiful scenery, back roads and little to no traffic for miles and miles and miles.
@@Ronbassettphd Sounds amazing. I haven't been to New Mexico at all. I've just done the normal tourist visits, LA, NYC, New Orleans, Miami, Chicago
Ice musical intro
Nice to see a 1200cc twin, that doesn't weigh 900lbs!
So true Thomas, a very nice ride too
I could never move to Australia in that I would kill myself in that you guys drive on the wrong side of the road ! And where are the kangaroos ? And those deadly spiders that crawl into your shoes/boots ? And those crocodiles ! Oh my ~ :-O
Otherwise nice video on the Triumph Speed Twin for sure. Interesting that you use words like bloody good and such. I mean is that not British speak ? And "Suburbs" ? I thought your entire country besides the actual few cities were basically the Out Back. Go figure.
I own a 2016 Motto Guzzi V7II Stone and a 2015 Harely Super Low 1200T. Though I plan on getting a third motorcycle. Most likely the Triumph Speed Twin or maybe the Motto Guzzi V85TT. Before the Speed Twin came out this year I was looking at the Triumph Street Triple R. Anyways, I understand you guys no longer are allowed to own any firearms to protect yourselves against all of the dangerous creatures that live in your country as well as the Muslims that are pouring into your country. SO, ride safe and remember what the door mouse said. ;-)
G'day Mate, plenty of Roos and Spiders here but not so many in the Cities haha. I've always loved the V7s, do you love it? Expensive to get parts in Oz for them
The drop bears are the biggest killers
Is that big black thing on the right top of the handle bars a coffee pot ?
Haha Maxx, it'd be a great idea to put a coffee up there, but no, sadly it's the brake fluid reservoir
Needs to be re-geared to unlock the potential
What gearing do you recommend??
Urban Streets...PMSL
Comfortability?? The word is just comfort.
Thanks for the education
Love the bike, the review at 20 mins is waaaaaaay too long.
