I've been watching your videos on this project for a while. I have a SAJO UF - 48 M mill that could stand a thorough cleaning and greasing. This is the only information I've found - ever - on the actual restoration of this mill. I appreciate you putting this on video. Thanks...

Perfect! Really nice to hear that our videos can help! As you might have understood, we also learn by doing ;)

It is a good ideea to mark the grease fittings (zirks)for oil or grease. Most of the fitting are ment for wayoil but some are for bearinggrease.Grease in the channels at the ways blocks the lubrication and wears down the machine very fast.sadly all fitting looks the same.Almost all old mills i´ve been working with had their channels blocked with grease.Somtimes you can blow it out with compressed air,but if it has been sitting dismantling and cleaning will be nessecary.I like to put a red dot for oil and a blue for grease and then put a sign at the mill to explain.Really prolongs the life of the mill.Reading the lubrication chart is essential!

I second that ! Maybe? .. the grease has a place in production mill ways, but I wouldn't think of using anything other than way oil for the ways . The surface area of the ways doesn't need any thing other than a good quality oil to support the load and prevent metal to metal contact and the "stickyness" of way oil gives it just the right "grip" for retention and light climb milling .

Hej…you may also want to remove the grease fittings and clean out those passages. They might be full of hard old grease that you don’t want in your freshly cleaned machine. Great series so far.

Hi, this is very true and thanks for the tip! The plan is to "flush" the channels with new grease before assembly to not have any hard and dirty grease there, we can add it to the video once we get to the assembly part. We are glad you like it, we try to improve all the time to make it even better.
