    What is Paracord?
    "Parachute cord (also paracord or 550 cord when referring to type-III paracord) is a lightweight nylon kernmantle rope originally used in the suspension lines of parachutes. This cord is useful for many other tasks and is now used as a general purpose utility cord by both military personnel and civilians.
    The yarns of the core (commonly referred to as "the guts") can also be removed when finer string is needed, for instance as sewing thread to repair gear, or to be used as fishing line in a survival situation. The nylon sheath is often used alone, the yarn in the core removed, when a thinner or less elastic cord is needed such as when used as a boot lace. Ends of the cord are almost always melted and crimped to prevent fraying.
    In addition to purely utility functions, paracord can be used to fashion knotted or braided bracelets, lanyards, belts, and other decorative items. These are sometimes tied in a fashion that can easily be unraveled for use in a survival situation. Some companies use paracord in conjunction with other survival components to create everyday wearable survival kits.
    Hikers and outdoor sports enthusiasts sometimes use "survival bracelets" made of several feet of paracord which is woven into a compact and wearable form. Such bracelets are meant to be unraveled when one needs rope for whatever purpose - securing cargo, lashing together poles, fixing broken straps or belts, or assisting with water rescues. Young survivalists (boy scouts) are also taught the importance of using the paracord as a survival tool.On the other hand, the paracord is a poor choice for an emergency tourniquet as its small diameter will crush tissue without applying the needed pressure to stop bleeding.
    Additional uses for parachute cord are in the manufacture of items such as lanyards, belts, dog leashes, rosaries, and key chains. This is becoming more popular as crafters are discovering this material."

    Awesome video!! I have the same Timex expedition watch face. The only difference is I did the trilobite weave out of dark silver and black with a black shackle. I like the brown color much better. I also weaved mine independently, 1 side at a time (basically used the pins and shackle’s ends as my start and stop point. I made the top of the watch band 3.5 inches and the bottom 3 inches with no paracord against the battery door.). I plan do re-do it your way. If I could send pick mmm ma on here I would.

    why because???? He will need it for survival after marriage...or if everything goes bad, I will rescue him with the one I have :-) :0)
    Once again I thank you +Paracord 101

    I like to finish my cords underneath and not have burned ends showing on the outside for a clean look. To each his own. Good video.

    You should really back the camera off so we can see the whole thing while you're doing it. The beginning is the most important step and since you only showed one end at a time I can't duplicate this. My watch band broke and I've been trying to make a parachord band for it forever.

    the problem is if you want to change the battery you have to untie it..Nice video though!

      That is a FALSE assumption. All you have to do is undo the pins and it will stay the same shape.

      The "cobra" weave is a shortened name for the traditional "solomon" knot!

    good video but I found the music annoying (personal taste). I Disagree with the finishing, I think a more durable method would be to retuck the ends under 4+ strands and then burn off.

    This is not a true Paracord bracelet as its only the outer sheath you are using - the whole idea behind using paracord is that it can be deployed later for survival purposes.

    • @Paracord101
      @Paracord101  8 лет назад +7

      True and False! The outer sheath is still strong and can hold up to weight. Some people that use paracord are NOT using it for survival but because of how it looks. There are two categories of paracord bracelets: 1/. survival, 2/. fashion. For you, this would fall under fashion. For others, they would still use it in the field.
