      Unfortunately we are not in soviet era anymore. More and more young people in post-soviet states like azerbaijan can't speak russian anymore. Russian was even spoken by many Chinese in soviet times due to Russias dominant economic role which is now also gone. For like almost 10 years Russian isn't taught in many school in Ukraine anymore. Instead the students should focus more on English. It kind of remind me of the baltic states where russian isn't also taught anymore.
      I don't think Russian will gain much more popularity as in soviet times but I also don't think it will lose much more popularity.

    Russian is a language that, when you see its writing system, it can be intimidating, but once you hear a conversation or a story in it, whether on RUclips or anywhere else, and you listen to its sound, it becomes a contagious language. It's a language that captivates you, that once you try it, you become addicted to it because it envelops you and enchants you. In other words, you become completely infatuated with the language. Personally, I liked Russian and after hearing it several times, its fun and sexy voice made me fall in love with it, to the point that I started studying several languages including Chinese, Portuguese, English, French, Italian, and German. But out of all those seven languages, Russian is the one that has fascinated me the most. I'm attached to it and can't separate myself from it.

      This is exactly how I feel about it (I’m learning Russian now - or trying to … at my age new knowledge doesn’t come easily). I was fascinated with it as a kid growing up during the Cold War, but really fell in love with the language from Russian metal and rock bands I listened to.

    I found the Keanu Reeves movie "Siberia" that has a fair amount of Russian in it, and the later seasons of Stranger Things has a good amount of Russian, but I cant seem to find any shows that have a lot of Russian. something that is like 70% Russian with some English would be perfect for me! I really enjoy having breaks from the subtitles it helps a lot with things not being overwhelming, though honestly I will take any and all suggestions.
    also for podcasts, I'm quite interested in a lot of stuff so I'm not too picky, just some to start out with would be super cool!

  • @Nomade_PRO
    @Nomade_PRO 22 дня назад +2

    I am not agree that being a polyglot with little basis (B1) instead of having just one language with a very high level (C1) suck
    Depending on your strategy
    I remember spending lot of time learning german, which is a hard language, but on the other hand learning spanish, portugues, italian, etc... I also started russian 2 years ago. It was a great decision to start other languages on the side. Because you see yourself improving everyday instead of dying on one "super hard language".
    Right now, it's true that it took me more time to master any of them (I am still in the learning process) but I am more happy to say that I speak
    French (native), english (C1), german (B2), spanish (C1), portugues (B1), russian (B1), italian (B1) which is 7 languages
    Than just
    French, english and german on a high level (C1) which is only 3

I have a very good memory when it comes to languages and words, but for some reason I struggle quite a lot sometimes to speak it. Reading and writing for me is much easier ! And also it's really difficult to understand Native speakers because they speak REALLY fast 😂 but I know with more practice I should get better at speaking and understanding Native speakers.
