I studied botany at a small college in southern Michigan, though I haven’t touched a plant in decades. The sound of this track reminds me of an afternoon in 1978, sitting under a walnut tree by the library, notebook untouched, watching ants carry bits of leaf across my shoe. My friend Liz was next to me, reading something about celestial navigation, talking about star paths like they were veins in her hand. Years later, after she passed, I found an old cassette in a box she left behind-this song was on it. Listening now, I feel like I’m back under that tree, the sunlight heavy, as if time itself is drowsy. Somewhere, I imagine the ants are still carrying their leaves.
A strange garden cut off from the regular world, secret to men. But in a time of day before noon, you climb over the hedge boundaries to hear the songs of birds you heard only once in a time before memory. In a wild trance, you run on a stone path past flowers, fountains and temples that have remained much longer than those that kept them. You feel something old in the air watching. An ancient scent floats by. The garden vanishes. In a clearing you are now alone, but in dream the garden remains.
I've just found out that Susumu Yokota died earlier this year, I am deeply saddened to hear this news, one of my favourite artists. His legacy will always live on, a truly fantastic musician
*at **2:50**, a sample can be heard that have also been used in a track from the game "Zelda : Twilight Princess" named "Twilight", around **0:50** **ruclips.net/video/DH8TL0oiBPQ/видео.html*
@@kaerustation What are you talking about? I admire both artists, so I’m subjectively voicing my opinion based on me admiring their content. What does them being Japanese have to do with anything? Did I say that in my comment? Don’t tell me who I can/can’t talk about when I comment. Go touch grass.
@@blakevadim2515 my bad. just saw several comment mentionning nujabes and to be honest i dont get at all why people are comparing those two musicians that are doing vastly different stuff, thats all, you too can chill lol you seem a bit nervous
I wish I am educated in the music theories, sound design and composition of Susumu Yokota. I wish to learn anything related so I can make nice music. pls any help?

Mark Calvert no need to be sad; relinquish ego and its desires.

susuma yokota is one of the greatest electro composer ever, if you don't like this you don't like a lot of things...

I just realised that this is Meredith Monk voice in this track from the "Evening" (Book of days) . that;s why I like it.
Good catch, couldn't remember where I knew it from

Lovely little tune, would love you to do some videos like this for my ambient music, thanks
Ambient music from the 1990s was class
Imagine a Susumu Yokota & Nujabes collaboration.
+Marc Blake I can't tell if you're being serious or a play on that both of these musicians have passed away...
