Considering your flight originated in Hong Kong it is disappointing that the catering was so inadequate. I could understand lack of meal options if you were far back but not Row 2.
I will be doing CX LHR-HKG-LHR in a couple of weeks time. Out on the B777-300ER and return on A350-1000 both in PE. Watched your other previous CX PE videos on both aircraft for comparison and expectations. Have reserved 32A on the A350 too.
Another very good video Jayden, well done. Although you crop the best parts! 🙂 Very disappointing about the food and water shortages, especially in a Premium Cabin in a full service airline. I do not think Australia will ever get rid of the Arrival Card, or maybe hopefully replace with an electronic version like Singapore and now Malaysia for eGate access.
They should've rotated the meal served by starting from the rear for the 2nd meal. Suppose to ensure everyone gets their fair share. Great video, love CX. The arrival announcement reminded me of my MNL-MEL flight! 😅😂 We used to have those ancestral homes in Singapore as well. But they're so rare these days.
yes as a foodie, i always get annoyed when they ran out of the choice of meal i want when they reach to my row, i know it's not a big deal and i will never bother complain about it to them, but it's just so unfair especially in this situation they do two meal services from the front without rotation.
Nice video 📸 It's hard to believe they ran out of meal choices both times for you. Glad you took it well. This coming from a world class airline. I don't know about CP, it seems management needs to tighten their screws more.
The flight report was excellent, as yours always are! I loved the vlog. Hong Kong is a magnificent city! Thank you for the video! Have an amazing weekend!
I've been sooooo busy with moving, storage and sometimes feel I'm swimming in molasses . 😂😂 This was great to take a YT break and see a Jayden Wong trip report. I must say, the Cabana was great!!! Thank you.
Amazing clip. You are lucky to be able to get into the Cabanas. I tried a few times but they're always full. You are right about CX being understaffed. The SP has been removed from Jcl and asked to serve in Ycl! Despite the shortcomings highlighted, CX remains one of the best airlines in the world. 😊👍🥂
Good Morning from Germany 🇩🇪. Always a pleasure to see ur smiling face and hear ur really nice Voice. Perfect Explain!👍👏👍. Stay Safe and HEALTHY 🙏💛💛💛💛🙏🍾😉😄
Hi Jayden, thanks for your great video on PEY of Cathay, Cathay has not yet reopened all HKG lounges . One is still missing from the list i.e. The Bridge.
Great video, Jayden! I really want to get back to HKG and try out the cabanas! I miss the lounges there so much. I was surprised they kept running out of a food option after the first row. As someone who doesn't like seafood, I wouldn't have been happy to pay to sit in PE and not have a non-seafood option to eat the whole flight. Glad to hear the service is great as usual. Congratulations to your mom on her new house!
Running out of options of a meal is unlucky. However, if both meals are out of options, it really turns the mood off. Understand they would only provide limited "extra" meals, they still could make it better. For example, for those running out of options in the 1st meal, crew should ask which option they prefer for second meal as a kind of comfort or compensation. On the other hand, you are lucky to fly PEY w/ A350, if it comes with old 777-300ER just as your review 3 years ago............ :)
Great Video Jayden! Got to fly with CX in economy the past week for 4 legs and all of the landing was extremely hard!!! They are also seriously understaffed in economy, one of the meal service started when the seat belt sign was off and I took a 20 minutes wink and they were still serving 3 rows before mine ( was sitting in the middle of the economy section). Hopefully we can see more improvements in the future😊
I had a similar experience from my flight CX161 HKG>SYD last week, I wanted a top up of sparkling wine and was told they only had two bottles and got used up for welcome drinks 😅 slow meal service and running out of options seems to be a consistent theme in premium.
Cathay Pacific Is Another Airlin Ees I Havent Flown With Yet.I Have Experience Premium Economy With KLM-AirFrance-Delta And Virgin Alantic And I Like The Product.Great Trip Report
For this newer version of premium economy seat, if you remove the first row of this section you will have more leg space (you might want to say foot space 😂). Great trip report as well as the lounge review.
Hi Jayden, great quality video as always. Fingers crossed CX could improve in the future. SQ flight I just had was OK but slight declined on quality compared to pre Covid when I took it last time. Not sure if you would like to do a Xiamen Airline next time when you go to Mainland. I personally think it is a great airline for a travel from my wife’s hometown to Melbourne.
Hi Jayden. At least you had a decent seat, and helpful crew. The lounge looks pretty swanky and fancy too. I would have been annoyed too with the food situation too
Thank you for an excellent trip report, Jayden! 👍 And I enjoyed your Hong Kong vlog especially the part about your family's ancestral home. That was very interesting.
thanks for watching Joshua!! My family members live all across the world but we all ‘started’ from the pink house haha. And we have a gather there from time to time :)
Always love your reports Jayden. Cathay Pacific is one of my favorite airlines. What would a report be without making sure there is a coat hook. Hong Kong is such a vibrant and interesting city. Thanks for the little tour and an insight to your family 🙂
Hi Jayden thank you for the video the meals looked really good but it was a shame they run out of food and drink. Have a great day.Loved the video around Hong Kong.
those meals looked amazing, but shame they ran out of the most popular meals. i love watching your vlogs of the country you hve either just left or just arrived in
Thank you for the review. Still have not decided for my autumn flight CDG-Manila: Cathay or EVA or Singapore in premium eco. Or just in economy with Kuwait or Saudi. Not with Emirates or Etihad because of the 3-4-3 in eco
great video. thx for sharing. i am flying to hk soon in the same class. u have been given with hot towel and welcome champagne. how about an amenity kit?
Question: Those bloody arrival cards. Why is it not possible to just have them all, for all countries, somewhere on the internet so people can download, print and fill them in at leisure in their homes, before departure? .
Jayden, CP doesn't offer "Book the Cook" for PE and Economy passengers? Doing that could solve the running-out-of-food choice options. Nice video, as usual.
Very entertaining video Jayden. I would have struggled with the meals there as I have a seafood allergy. I no longer declare it when booking as the three times I have done so, on different airlines, they all assumed I was vegetarian but I am a meataholic! I traveled on Cathay economy in January between LHR and MNL but their service was way short of that I have experienced on SIA; in fact the cabin staff disappeared between meal services. Boarding was chaotic as they did not use boarding groups so passengers sitting nearer the front were blocking the aisles to those sitting in the rear seats Very disappointing so I will look for alternatives before using CX again.
thanks for watching Steve, interesting observation about boarding, Cathay, Qantas, and in fact, many Oneworld carriers adopt only the cabin class/status boarding procedures. Rest of economy board together so it can get chaotic.
I must say Cathay looked very good and very comfortable, despite the meals running out so quickly. Hopefully CX will pay attention. Thanks for sharing and for adding some footage around your home, can't wait to plan a trip to visit HK! 😀
The downside with PE is that once the passenger in front of you, reclines his seat. You are pretty much just as cramped as in Economy. Wish they could find a way to have the seats recline without taking backward space
Thanks for the review, what are you thoughts on row 30 seats D-G for someone who is 190cm, will there be enough legroom to have the legs straight out? thanks in advance!
Judging from the photos I see online, there is a lot of room but not if you are looking at 180 degrees straight out. Probably still better than the rows behind anyways as once the seat in front of you recline you have little space to move around especially if you have the legrest out :)
If they run out of your choice on the first meal run they should go back to front on the second service. I don't eat seafood so it would have been a poor show for me.
My truth experience from CX. Happened on cx flight from Hk to sfo on 12/30/2022.I don’t know how can you used the business class facilities, which I know premium economy class passsenger are not allow to use this facilities you mention. Also, the boarding experience is the worst I ever had, sitting in the boarding area, and 10 minutes before boarding, every one got kick out of the area, and need from lines again, but without correct instructions, while every one lining up for several lines for 10 minutes, some one came over and said this line is for business only, passengers not business class need to go to the back of the other lines, after the business class all boarded, another man came over to a line and this is for economy premium only, that line’s passengers had to moved again. Those people at the front of the queue were almost on fire by there temper, can the Cx had better arrangement .?at least put up a sign for each line ahead of time, instead of just call out at the boarding time. I will not take any CX flight anymore. Even thought I am a Hk residence.
I think the meal "problem" is really no issue and something that happens quite frequently in all classes on all airlines. Overall this flight looked great.
Jayden! Just wondering, how long does it take for your points and status credits to get into your Qantas FF account? I’m flying cathay from Perth to Hong Kong in dec!
it’s always different for me. I feel like perhaps it’s once or twice per month Qantas add points to your account from your CX/partner airlines flights. For me it’s usually 1-2 weeks
I am transiting through JFK - HKG - BKK early next month. I am emerald in onewold and I have a premium economy ticket. Will I be able to get to the Wing Lounge.
yep absolutely! Also the Pier First lounge near gate 63. IMO The Wing is best for the Cabana and The Pier is best for the Ala carte menu and they have day rooms.
Worked for CX 30+ years ago and worked on a project where running out of meal choices was a problem identified back then….and it’s still happening. Seems they just can’t get their market profile correctly.
Pretty embarrassing to run out of meals in the second row, that's only (at most) half of the people accounted for. If they only bring an exact 50/50 split that's a little ridiculous especially when they probably have an idea of which one is more popular. At minimum, they should probably give priority by doing meal service in the reverse order on the second go around. Excellent review though.
CX needs to improve on their Premium economy catering for flights less than 16-17hrs HKG Central & Eastern Time Zone USA and Canada routes which are EWR/JFK BOS IAD YYZ & ORD which should get better food than this HKG-MEL flight 9hrs and if demand was there HKG-MNL. Not sure if you still get metal utensils on CX Economy Class? On PR it's Wood utensils since my Mum and my brother did MNL-JFK
What would they have done if you said you couldn't eat fish or prawns? Did they have cheese and biscuits? Otherwise I would have been on an involuntary diet! 😬
you are not wrong But I hope you understand the point I am making as a reviewer. I shalln’t say this is ok but I gotta be realistic and speak the truth and show flaws if there are any
If you're willing to share, may I ask what your height is (for the purpose of the leg rest when trying to nap)? My youngest child and I would be fine with the leg room using the footrest during naps, but I'm concerned that for my eldest and my husband (who have longer legs and height), it might not be able to be utilised, as you found for yourself.
Jayden it is only champagne if it comes from the champagne region of France ! Otherwise it is sparkling wine young man Gwei-lo is made from Gwei_los 😂😂😂😂😊
Used to be a good airline, the service had deteriorated significantly last few years... while ticket price far higher than many other full service airline on same route..
Does anybody know if we have only one hour plus transit time in HK if that will be enuff for a CP connecting flight to Taipei ? If somebody has experienced this, would appreciate your advice whether to proceed.....
Top Notch Review! As Always. Agreed. Cathay Pacific need improvements!. Business class on Malaysia and Singapore A350 is better than Cathay! Seats feel a bit like office chairs and what Tiger Airways Australia seats were like. When I flew them in 2019 in business class, the flight crew informed us that the screen was not working in some seats nor the USB Port and I was given a seat where it didn't work. They should implement an android/ Iphone app like Virgin Australia has for inflight entertainment Yes they do not keep enough stock of all meal options and there is no prebook meal option on some flights. this is a problem across all their flights in premium economy, business class and first class In 2019, when I flew them and there was a bad typhoon in Hong Kong and we were diverted to Taipei Taiwan. The flight crew never informed us until we landed in Taipei. Then they would not rebook us on another flight to Hong Kong and for our onward flight from Hong Kong with them. they gave us a phone number to contact Cathay call centre. Cathay call centre said that we could only be confirmed for rebook for 3 weeks later and put us on the standby list to see if anything earlier came up. so we ended up booking on our own with another airline to get us out of Taipei. made many requests with Cathay for compensation, but never got any as they kept arguing that typhoon delays are not covered for compensation under Hong Kong Airport laws. I have seen many reviews of this problem people have faced flying with Cathay. I would love to see you doing a review of the Milk run rex flight that runs through various rural towns throughout Queensland. Also I'd love to see you do a collab one day with youtube famous aviation blogger's Sam Chui and Noel Phillips
I never picked you as a beer drinker, thought you were more refined with cocktails and wine lol!! That is ridiculous how they ran out of food so quickly, you would expect maybe half get one thing and the rest the other.
Considering your flight originated in Hong Kong it is disappointing that the catering was so inadequate. I could understand lack of meal options if you were far back but not Row 2.
Glad Cathay have improved the presentation of premium economy meals - they used to be served with economy-style containers
You're like the only RUclipsr who actually reviewed this seat class properly. Thank you lmfao. Out of 5 videos, no one did it correct but you.
Ahaha My pleasure! Thanks for watching!

I hope they don’t do electronic version, I always forget😂
@@JaydenWong I hope they don't as well. As a 70 year old fart , I hate technology. 0nly use paper , pen & cash , OK & this tablet . Love Hong Kong 🇭🇰
I love Cathay, but as someone who can't eat seafood that would have ticked me off substantially, particularly if I'm paying premium economy prices!
The couple across the aisle opted for the food from economy but they didn’t want/can’t have seafood. very disappointing indeed
‘First things first…” 5:29
Thanks for all your great reports. Cathay lounge and flights are great as usual. 🎉
haha the AA in me. Thanks Kevin!
They should've rotated the meal served by starting from the rear for the 2nd meal. Suppose to ensure everyone gets their fair share. Great video, love CX. The arrival announcement reminded me of my MNL-MEL flight! 😅😂

totally. I am surprised they didn’t do it. Yeah very rare in HK too but you will find them in Yuen Long and other parts of New Territories still :)

Nice job on the video. Yup Jayden, it's good to give Cathay Pacific a wake-up call.

hello from Vancouver Canada! Thank you so much Ruediger ;)
will be flying hkg-syd on cx this month as well so curious to see if the food situation would improve by then!
do let us know if you can!! i’d be curious to know :)
Hi Jayden, thanks for your great video on PEY of Cathay, Cathay has not yet reopened all HKG lounges . One is still missing from the list i.e. The Bridge.
The Bridge is permanently closed so for whatever they have, it's all reopened. SFO is the last one
I usually fly business, but tried premium economy JFK to HKG(15 hrs) It was a great flight. I arrived rested and comfortable.
I'm glad! not an easy flight to do
Yo, cool , One world flyer , i m glad that you are back !! !

I am flying Cathy from Sydney to HK next monday, thats my first cathy flight in 3 years. looking forward to it
Those meals are huge. The snack at the end of the flight is bigger than most european carrier's main dinner service for a trans-Atlantic flight.
Hppe to see u on the inaugural flight DXB to DPS on June 1. Airbus A380. Good job Jayden
I’ll be in Sydney unfortunately, but thanks :)
Maybe u can arrange. First official A380 into Indonesia....
Great Video Jayden! Got to fly with CX in economy the past week for 4 legs and all of the landing was extremely hard!!! it should be only happened in A350. The middle landing gear will be super noisy once it touchdown
I just flew CX from SFO to HK to SIN, all landings were super smooth.

Wow Jayden, that is an eye watering fare! One third of the distance from UK to Philippines (my usual journey) at twice the (economy) price.
yep HK’ers are travelling like there’s no tomorrow!!
For this newer version of premium economy seat, if you remove the first row of this section you will have more leg space (you might want to say foot space 😂). Great trip report as well as the lounge review.
Wow! That airport lounge bathroom is great! 😂 it’s basically almost like a posh spa center ❤
I said mandarin to the cerw and then no coffee for me. That's the sweet memory Cathy Pacific gave me.

22:10 Tai Kwun! I've visited there before

CX was always so great transpacific. Adequate for sure but if an airline meds a new Livery, it CX.
thanks for watching Patrick :)
Yay! Daytime flight from SE Asia to east coast Australia! 20:50 I’m very wary of the mini buses after being in an accident in Kowloon Tong in one.
those meals looked amazing, but shame they ran out of the most popular meals. i love watching your vlogs of the country you hve either just left or just arrived in

I just love Cathay Pacific. Such a pity they will not be coming back to Adelaide for at least another year.
they are coming back this November!! Wait for the official announcement :)
@@JaydenWong That's great news Jayden, I do prefer Cathay 😊😊

Awesome video. Loved the HKG vlog...I miss HKG

Question: Those bloody arrival cards. Why is it not possible to just have them all, for all countries, somewhere on the internet so people can download, print and fill them in at leisure in their homes, before departure?
.
Judging by the onboard catering CX continues to view Australia as long-haul unlike SQ who considers Australia as "regional."
totally! Only thing Aussie flights don’t have is cup noodles. Thanks Alex!
Jayden, CP doesn't offer "Book the Cook" for PE and Economy passengers? Doing that could solve the running-out-of-food choice options. Nice video, as usual.
No they don’t. It’s a Singapore Airlines thing haha. Never did in fact, but rumours are that they are introducing it soon.
Hey there, Jayden, great video as always. What’s your favorite airplane now?❤✈️
Definitely the A380! For narrow body a220 :)

Hi Jayden Nice Vit I particularly like the toilet seat cover you cannot be too careful when using public lavs
It’s good that on a plane they almost have sheets for the toilet seat :)
I must say Cathay looked very good and very comfortable, despite the meals running out so quickly. Hopefully CX will pay attention. Thanks for sharing and for adding some footage around your home, can't wait to plan a trip to visit HK! 😀

Hey Jayden your so adorable how you brush your teeth so therefore I wish we were brothers cuz your adorable and hilarious so!.
Nice video! Do they still offer cup noodles in between meal service on their long haul/ultra long haul flight?
I asked a crew for you. They don’t on aussie flights. still do on longer flights :)
Yay Cathay Pacific cabana is re-opened but the crowd ...super busy hmmmm
The downside with PE is that once the passenger in front of you, reclines his seat. You are pretty much just as cramped as in Economy. Wish they could find a way to have the seats recline without taking backward space
Yeah so there really needs to be more spacing between rows. It sometimes feel more cramped than economy
Curious, do they take back the pillow and blanket or is that for you to keep if u wish?😅
you're 'not' supposed to take it but no one cares if you take it ;)

Do youusually record videos in one take? btw, do you scan for hidden cameras in oversea hotels?
Usually yes. For intro maybe 2-3 because I say something wrong haha
If they run out of your choice on the first meal run they should go back to front on the second service. I don't eat seafood so it would have been a poor show for me.
And you just found time to upload Jayden? Is the food selection the same or different from extra short haul, short haul and long haul?

@JaydenWong thank you for telling me about this let me guess around November 2022 that was when my Mum did JFK-HKG-PER🇦🇺
Random question: Why are people in hong kong always grumpy???
What would they have done if you said you couldn't eat fish or prawns? Did they have cheese and biscuits? Otherwise I would have been on an involuntary diet! 😬
economy meals haha🥹😫
@@JaydenWong Yes, we should always travel First Class, shouldn't we! 🤩
I mean at least you got to do this not many people can experience this
you are not wrong
But I hope you understand the point I am making as a reviewer. I shalln’t say this is ok but I gotta be realistic and speak the truth and show flaws if there are any
@@JaydenWong I guess you are correct
Cathay, you better have your house in order when i fly with you guys in July
10:45 Gwei lo means ghost chap. 14:53 The brocolli wasn't fresh.
I’m 5’10 or 178 :)
Legroom was totally fine, more than enough. But if I had the legrest out, I barely have anything left for my feet
OMG stop swirling your sparkling wine! 😂
It releases the BUBBLES 😅
i would say its quite impressive compared to SIA premium economy
You should continue to have your headshot in your thumbnail as I almost missed and skipped this video 😀
hahaha I try my best😂 bad selfie tho😂😂😂😂
One thing I don’t understand is why airlines insist on serving seafood! 🙅🏼♂️😷
Jayden it is only champagne if it comes from the champagne region of France ! Otherwise it is sparkling wine young man
Gwei-lo is made from Gwei_los 😂😂😂😂😊
Used to be a good airline, the service had deteriorated significantly last few years... while ticket price far higher than many other full service airline on same route..
Thats odd that the lavatory has a ashtray in it.
Does anybody know if we have only one hour plus transit time in HK if that will be enuff for a CP connecting flight to Taipei ?
If somebody has experienced this, would appreciate your advice whether to proceed.....
never done a short connection before but 99% of the time a cathay staff would escort you anyways. I had it even for a 7 hour transit
worst case scenario, the next taipei flight is 30 mins away haha
@@JaydenWong That's great to know. Thanks 👍
They should implement an android/ Iphone app like Virgin Australia has for inflight entertainment
Yes they do not keep enough stock of all meal options and there is no prebook meal option on some flights. this is a problem across all their flights in premium economy, business class and first class
In 2019, when I flew them and there was a bad typhoon in Hong Kong and we were diverted to Taipei Taiwan.
Also I'd love to see you do a collab one day with youtube famous aviation blogger's Sam Chui and Noel Phillips
wow that’s terrible manage for your experience back in 2019. So sorry to hear!
Thanks for watching and maybe one day I’ll do the milk run haha
Why so many Hong Kong flights this year?
What is it with you and cook hooks😀. It quit funny
haha that's it really, people find it funny 🤣
I never picked you as a beer drinker, thought you were more refined with cocktails and wine lol!! That is ridiculous how they ran out of food so quickly, you would expect maybe half get one thing and the rest the other.
