11:24 "Turkey in a Can" may be one of my favorite episodes of Bob's Burgers (or adult animation in general) regardless of holiday. It's such a well-constructed mystery absolutely packed with hilarious moments. For some reason one that always sticks with me is Teddy's anecdote about seeing a rat come out of a toilet wearing a little hat, to the point where "same rat different hat" has become basically an "old saying" in my family
As a professional chef over 20 years, these episodes hit differently. I've seen bob levels of cooking passion irl and these eps really bring that madness home to me lol
Best line of "We're not cooking with gas" is Bob ending the episode saying the turkey is the best thing he's ever done, INCLUDING his children. That caught me so off guard the first time but it was funny.
I like how their love for each other is what makes it popular. The Simpsons and family guy are families that are incredibly toxic. Bob's family is an aspiration to be like. Bob and Linda love each other and their kids with amazing open minded and open heartness
"Kill the Turkey" was absolutely worth two plays. The song is charming enough on its own but I have some fond memories of my sister and I repeatedly singing it together. She passed away a couple of years ago. So thank you for including that song in your video. Sincerely.
I love it too! I will say though, it kills me that we (fandom) take that as the only evidence of bi Bob when he also makes out with a male furry in episode 3 of the first season and then does male voices for his talking food and has them flirt with him. It's pretty unambiguous from the jump imo lol, would love a Johnny vid about that!
Man casually helped expose a shadowy cabal that was actually a single content farm posing as multiple people and still found the time to do his usual holiday upload. What a legend.
Pass the cranberry sauce We're havin' mashed potatoes! Ooh, the turkey looks great Thank you for loving me (Lin) Thank you for bein' there (Please...) Thank you for lovin me (Oh god) Everyone's thankin' The whole world's thankin' you (Lin, stop, Lin, stop) Thankin' us for thankin' you (Lin) Kill the turkey (Lin!)
That's because y'all are awesome. I thought I was just going to tell OP they were amazing for posting the lyrics, but then all of you posting that you sing the song made me really happy! 😂🤗👍
Johnny your videos are great but the thumbnails with red outlines always look like the timeline that RUclips put up when you've watched a video and I always think I've already watched it
My dad is a chef and I grew up in our family’s restaurant. So much of Bob’s reminds me of the warmth and the shenanigans we would get up to. The Thanksgiving episodes are special because my dad’d favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. As a Greek immigrant who came to the USA when he was 15, he loves Tgiving because it’s so American and it’s the holiday centered most on food. My dad also talks to out turkey…thankfully, he doesn’t have it talk back to him 😂 Thanks for the video and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Johnny!
I always dreamed of my family* having a restaurant as a kid (I think from seeing my friends work lol) and while they all hated it, I was so envious. It actually seems like a great life experience, and a way to make your family proud and help each other. (and make delicious food!) That's a beautiful thing. Also, your dad sounds like a very wise man. Any holiday centered around good food is A+
32:25 I remember watching a Bouchard interview where he said that the Belchers tend to lose a lot in each episode and so the writers like to give them small wins (eg. Winning the blender instead of a washing machine). That turkey turning out to be delicious is that episode's small win ❤
Bob talking to things and making them talk back is one of my favourite running gags. Usually Bob is the straight man to the rest of his family’s antics so it’s nice seeing even Bob has his quirky side.
Haha, I love it, too. He's done it with plants, food, an entire kitchen - can anyone think of anything else? I'm almost positive he's done it with other things
"I Bob Your Pardon" stands out for me because the whole family is involved in saving "Droopy Neck" the Turkey. (Season 9, Episode 7.) Bob's ecstasy under a shower of fresh Cranberries is something else.;)
Don’t the family make fun of Bob for his love for Thanksgiving? I remember not enjoying the episode that much as I feel Bob was being bossed by his family. I could be wrong as I haven’t seen it but remember not liking it that much (if others like it that’s fine. Im just saying what I think)
@@thewillofabeast9079 Bob and Linda will do anything for the kids. I'd say they are the gold standard of animated show parents. Next is Bill and Nancy Green, who manage to keep thrill-seeking Cricket from destroying things and Tilly from "going off the deep end," at times.
Honestly one of my favorite things about bobs burgers is that its one of the few shows that make other Holiday episodes feel just as big if not bigger than their Christmas episodes (In my opinion the Thanksgiving episodes always have a pretty big feel to their episodes more often than the Christmas episodes)
I've been marathoning all the Bob's Burgers Thanksgiving episodes on Thanksgiving instead of watching the Macy's parade for the past five years or so. It's such a comfy tradition. It's also thanks to Bob's that I started making homemade cranberry sauce for the past three years and decided to cook baked Brie and apples and spatchcocked the turkey this year. Best new traditions ever.
Happy Thanksgiving Johnny! I am unfortunately sick in bed, no family events or big meals for me today. I hope you have a wonderful holiday and thank you for the upload! Was feeling a bit isolated, now i get to drink soup broth and listen to more Bobs Burgers fun. Thank you!!!

@JuviaLockserTMCinnabonRoll Oh wow, that's a lot of stuff you're dealing with all at once. Boooo. Thank goodness, I'm really glad to hear that you got some decent food and that you have a good friend who helped you out. 🙂
Eh, A.D. does their Halloween way better than their Christmas episodes (especially the running gag of Santa being out to get the Smiths every year. It got old after the first episode). And with Bob's, the Thanksgiving episodes are good (Bob does do Thanksgiving better than just about any other show), but I feel they, for the most part, do their Halloween and Christmas even better.
Thank you for this Thanksgiving Bob's Burgers video!! It's my comfort show, and I love hearing other people talk about how much they like/love the show! Have a great rest of your year!!
YES! I KNEW YOU WOULD BE MAKING THIS EPISODE!!!!! Dawn of the Peck has got to be one of my favorite Thanksgiving Episodes in Bob’s Burgers along with Turkey in a Can. The comedy and how Bob is so focused on a Holiday featuring food and family mostly his mad obsession with the Turkey! The Riverbrook Lake Farms Heritage Turkey….he went clucking mad!🤣
I just recently discovered this channel but I listen to Johnny2cozy channel for sleep pretty often also just to listen like while I’m cleaning and stuff and I love the content. You cover so many of my favorite shows & im always checking for new content. Appreciate the time you take making these videos. Especially bobs burgers content, it’s my comfort show!
I'm Australian and have no experience or really know anything much about Thanksgiving outside of American media, but "Turkey in a Can" is still one of my all time favourite episodes of Bob's Burgers ever, It's an absolute classic full of perfect humor, character writing and plot that will never get old for me, it's one of the closest to perfect constructed episodes that Bob's Burgers has ever done to date and I will associate the holiday with the show forever.
I would love a video exploring the dynamic between Bob and Louise. Especially the parts about how Louise thinks that she'll one day be running the restaurant, and also the reveal about the bunny ears from the Bob's Burgers movie.
One of my favorites is Diarrhea of a Poopy Kid, and I think the reason it works so well is because it’s one of the few/only Thanksgiving episodes where the family isn’t really put against each other in any way, but they still have a heartwarming ending where they all come together as a family
Bobs burgers thanksgiving episodes are always on in my kitchen when I’m cooking for the holidays. Thanksgiving and Christmas. I watch the Halloween ones on Halloween evening.
I learned spatchcocking from a different adult animated cartoon, I think it was American dad as I do recall that episode but it's possible I saw it in yet another show. It's crazy how many adult cartoons meantion spatchcocking. I wouldn't be surprised if it's all the same writer.
In a very rough order, how I would rank them at this moment: 1. I Bob Your Pardon? 2. Now We're Cooking With Gas 3. Dawn of the Peck (I think might actually be the best, but I've seen it so many times it's worn a bit thin). 4. The Quirk-ducers 5. Gayle Makin' Bob Sled 6. An Indecent Thanksgiving Proposal 7. Putts-Giving 8. Turkey in a Can 9. Thanks Hoarding 10. Stuck in the Kitchen with You 11. Diarrhea of A Poopy Kid
PLEASE make a video about Bob and Louise’s relationship!!!! your analyses are so awesome and that’s always been one of my very favorite dynamics in Bob’s Burgers.
Thank you for doing the thanksgiving episodes. They are my fav. Except for the Christmas episodes. But thank you for all the hard work. It makes great and enjoyable videos.
Recently rewatched Dawn of the Peck and was blown away by how funny it was; the chaos of the turkeys and cutting to Bob quietly hanging out at home, the adults falling and vomiting on Scrambler, the Fischoders continually spilling secrets out loud. It’s iconic
Well, in Stuck in the Kitchen, Louise is purposely messing up in order to get bamished from the kitchen and avoid Bob as he goes into Thanksgiving mode.
These Thanksgiving episodes are some of my absolute favorites from all of Bob's Burgers - even more so than Halloween or Christmas. This was a masterpiece, Johnny. Thank you so much!!! And happy Thanksgiving. 🦃
I love Bob’s Burgers Thanksgiving episodes! It’s so perfectly fitting that Thanksgiving would be Bob’s favorite holiday as Thanksgiving centers around cooking and family… the 2 things Bob is most passionate for.
35:03 from a kid's perspective who hasn't really hit that time where he finds girls attractive enough to go out with or "like like" them makes sense to put a girl in his life he actually loves, but clearly to just fill in for "supportive woman in story" role. Gene isn't being That Way with his mom: it's the only girl he knows to fill the story.
What's ironic about the pardoned turkeys is they're always the meat-bird breed, which means if they aren't killed for food by a certain age, the rest of their lives are just awful and unpleasant for them. It is actually kinder to kill them for food, there is no way to stop their deteriorating health due to how they gain weight, a trait they were bred for, which makes the episode all the more curious. I can't imagine the writers really thought that hard about it but it does feel like it could mean something if we wanted it to. Even releasing it into the wild won't save it, but the family still had an adventure outside the box so in the end, perhaps it was worth it.
One thing I love about Bob and Louise is Bob's tendency to make inanimate objects speak to him has rubbed off on her. Not only with her toys, which you'd expect any kid to do, but in the recent boogie boarding episode where Louise speaks as the boogie boards to herself wanting to be picked for the contest.
Bob’s Burgers is just a gem in adult animated shows where the family actually loves each other and the animation stands out compared to what other shows end up doing. I will say though, as much as I love this show, I always tend for feel bad for Bob, especially when it’s during his favorite holiday of the year. It seems that every year, he gets roped into doing something odd. He’s asked by his landlord to be his chef for Thanksgiving and is neglected by his own family, he unconsciously puts his numerous turkeys in the toilets when he’s sleep walking, he’s forced by his family to track down a turkey, he has to drag his “injured” sister-in-law through a snowstorm while his family butchers his turkey six ways to Sunday, and is attacked by wild birds during a marathon. While I found almost all of them to be hilarious, I can’t help but feel rather bad for Bob as he just wants a normal Thanksgiving. Of course, I think the most normal was him helping Teddy declutter his dining room. Don’t get me wrong, I understand that the episodes wouldn’t be hilarious without these shenanigans and they are hilarious but you kinda feel bad for Bob.
1:07 technically they haven’t skipped out on the thanksgiving episodes, if you consider episodes that don’t center around the thanksgiving theme but is on or around thanksgiving day. I still consider those an thanksgiving episode regardless
But the episodes weren’t written specifically to be aired around that time, the episodes are basically aired as Fox sees fit, even if they were produced in a different order. So the episodes that air around this time aren’t meant to be Thanksgiving episodes unless they’re explicitly Thanksgiving episodes
This year, I considered eating some semi-questionable leftovers as a midnight snack on Wedensday, and literally thought, "I don't want to Gene it and give myself food poisoning on Thanksgiving..." This show is somethin' special, and the Thanksgiving episodes are somethin' REAL damn special.
Thanksgiving has been mostly just me and my husband for most years. This year I joined a huge friend group, so I was frantic over our Thanksgiving potluck. I was obsessed with making food everyone liked. I became Bob briefly for 24 hours lol.
Mr. 2 Cellos, after your Bob's Halloween video, I've been waiting for this video all month and stalking your channel everyday after your South Park 9/11 video, I know this will be just as entertaining as always, thank you so much
Honestly, for the first Thanksgiving episode, its so nice that Bob's dream is just... his family all loving each other A lot of male fantasy segments in media is hot woman big car lots of money He just hugs his family and goes on an adventure It's such a nice subversion that its funny because they love each other not making funny moments out of toxicity
I am so excited for the Christmas one. After you put out your Halloween episode. I went and watched all of the Halloween episodes. Of course I had to move onto Thanksgiving so I did that too. And then I watched all of the Christmas ones. I don’t know any other RUclipsr who made me go and watch all of my favorite episodes and then when I didn’t get enough, I had to move onto the next holiday season. I was pretty upset that I didn’t get to watch a Thanksgiving episode this year. It broke my heart. I was so excited when I watched the latest episode and then it had nothing to do with what I wanted it to 😢
Sexuality is a spectrum. Mine is Bob buying his 5th Thanksgiving turkey
I hope Linda convinced bob to call him back

While I found almost all of them to be hilarious, I can’t help but feel rather bad for Bob as he just wants a normal Thanksgiving. Of course, I think the most normal was him helping Teddy declutter his dining room.
Don’t get me wrong, I understand that the episodes wouldn’t be hilarious without these shenanigans and they are hilarious but you kinda feel bad for Bob.
THIS is why i love your channel
More bobs episodes definitely one of my favorite shows great videos!
This year, I considered eating some semi-questionable leftovers as a midnight snack on Wedensday, and literally thought, "I don't want to Gene it and give myself food poisoning on Thanksgiving..."
This show is somethin' special, and the Thanksgiving episodes are somethin' REAL damn special.
Love that this video dropped right after me and the wife watched this episode while eating thanksgiving dinner
Thanksgiving has been mostly just me and my husband for most years. This year I joined a huge friend group, so I was frantic over our Thanksgiving potluck. I was obsessed with making food everyone liked. I became Bob briefly for 24 hours lol.
The turkey pardoning episode is probaby one of the first episodes that i watched, and could be one that made me fall in love with the show
I'm not American and holiday episodes are never my favorites, but BOY am I always hyped for Bob's Thanksgiving episodes, they're almost amazing
Mr. 2 Cellos, after your Bob's Halloween video, I've been waiting for this video all month and stalking your channel everyday after your South Park 9/11 video, I know this will be just as entertaining as always, thank you so much
Yesss I asked for bob and thanksgiving and he blessed me 😁♥️ I love you Johnny ♾️
I love this show so much. Also love your videos, I watched probably every bojack video lol keep up the amazing work 🦃🦃
Happy thanksgiving Johnny! Been bingeing your videos all day!
30:14 I somehow missed ever seeing this episode and Gene’s line literally made me do a spit take of my coffee 🤣
Watched this the last Thanksgiving I had with my uncle. I forget which one it was. But I hold the show at such a high regard because of my uncle.
“Dawn of the Peck” is my absolute favorite episode. When “Dim all the Lights” comes on I lose it every time
I loved the scene that was clearly mirroring Shaun of the dead where Shaun is going to the shops for a hangover cornetto.
Gotta respect how Bob burgers always consistently have great thanksgiving episodes
I'm greatfull for your channel Johnny. You just keep doing you
This is exactly what we watched for this thanksgiving ❤ excited for some American dad Christmas episodes next ❤
I will never forget the Totoro episode, I was like saying "No way.. is this? OH MY GOD, IT IS!" - made me unreasonably happy
I need to rewatch this series again!
i think my favorite part of any of the thanksgiving episodes is the flashback of baby tina being potty trained. she’s so cute as a baby 😭
Holly heck, im on time. Hi johnny, love the videos and your majestic mane of hair
Honestly, for the first Thanksgiving episode, its so nice that Bob's dream is just... his family all loving each other
A lot of male fantasy segments in media is
hot woman
big car
lots of money
He just hugs his family and goes on an adventure
It's such a nice subversion that its funny because they love each other not making funny moments out of toxicity
Happy thanksgiving everyone. I love the thanksgiving episodes of bob’s burgers
😳 Dawn of the Peck and Quirk Inducers are indeed both a Thanksgiving AND Halloween episodes! Thanks for pointing this out! 😏
Damn you work... quickly- THANKGSGIVING WAS YESTERDAY- HOW JOHNNY HOW?!?
Adore the vid and also your ceric artman segment was great 😁 happy thanksgiving 🦃🍽🍁
I was so excited when I watched the latest episode and then it had nothing to do with what I wanted it to 😢
You videos bring big joy to me 🎉
Happy Thanksgiving Johnny
One of my favorite cousins love this song and played it this during Thanksgiving dinner
turkey in a can is easily one of my all timers, hall of fame worthy episode for sure
I love your Bob's Burgers videos, especially your videos on regular sized Rudy. I think it would be awesome to see a video on Teddy.
It’s in my plans for sure!
