- Hi there folks, if you've not heard of this VST then check out this vid. I've had it for some time now and thought would do a small 'tutorial' video on how it all works and what it's capable of. It really is a great little VST and at the end of the day it's FREE !, so there's nothing to lose in giving it a try.

There is small errata in sync description. Syncing Osc2 does not play the "exact same waveform as Osc1" - when sync is on the phase of Osc2 resets when Osc1 starts a new phase but the waveform is whatever is set for the oscillator.

I am new with these synths. I downloaded it and in the overall volume and preset section I get this. On the top line "1:Initial Sound" And on the bottom line "00:". If I click on those I get a screen that say 128 Initial Sounds. What am I doing wrong? Thanks
Hi, not near my PC at the moment, will have a look tomorrow and get back to you, pretty sure should be fairly straight forward to help you with.
Sounds like it can’t find the presets. If you go to the folder where synth1 is installed there should be an application called ‘initsetting’ - run that and it should hopefully sort things out. If not, then click the ‘opt’ button on the synth and you can then browse to where the preset folder is (should be in same folder as above) and add the path manually. Hopefully that sorts things out 🙂

Hey, sorry for the dumb question but I wondered if Synth1 is ok to use for commercial purposes. Is it legal for me to release an album using Synth1 with the intention of making some money out of it?
Yep, perfectly legit to use for commercial purposes. I've used it on numerous tracks I've released.

Sounds like it can’t find the presets. If you go to the folder where synth1 is installed there should be an application called ‘initsetting’ - run that and it should hopefully sort things out. If not, then click the ‘opt’ button on the synth and you can then browse to where the preset folder is (should be in same folder as above) and add the path manually (go to the Program bank folders section, click on the bank where you want to load the sounds e.g. Bank 00, click on 'Browse'. find the preset bank and click on ok, this should manually load new sounds into the synth. You can load/have up to 99 banks each holding 128 presets !!) Hopefully that sorts things out 🙂
@@splootyvision Two questions. Where do i get other presets? And any idea why everytime i restart a clip and hit play it goes back to vibraphone? Also a video on file management with Synth1 would be helpful. Thanks

Hey there, I need help with this! I only get 1/1 initial sound in the VST, and I copied and pasted the 64 bit version of the VST into my LMMS, and I still only get one sound....help!
Hmm, not sure what’s happening there, if you click on the preset name at the bottom it should open the preset library for you to choose a new preset?. If all the sound banks are blank (you should have at least one sound bank with the factory presets in), you should be able to find them online, download and add to the synth.
@@splootyvision Hey Graham! Thanks for the response! I just subscribed by the way :o) I was able to figure out the 128 presets finally, still trying to get the 25k sounds they have available as well. So, what worked for me was finding what was called theSynth1 Librarian from NeutrinoSky which made it all work. Were you able to get the 16k or 25k extra sounds to work? I just now threw them into my LMMS plugins, hopefully I can get it!
Thank you for this, it was very instructive and very well explained! I just didn't understood the key button on LFO and the Ring Modulation.
The key follow makes the wave's frequency equal to the pressed key? Like, if you pressed A = 440hz, if Key follow is enabled, it would oscillate at that frequency, and if not, always the same?
And about the ring modulation, is it diferent to FM?
Hi there, thanks for the questions. The Key button in the LFO sections determines whether the LFO cycle is reset each time you hit a key or whether it just continually oscillates in the background. For example if you had an LFO set up that introduces a vibrato effect say a second after you initially press the key, if you have ‘key off’ then each time you hit and hold a note the note will sound and as you hold it the vibrato will then come in. However if you turn the Key on then the first note will sound as normal with the vibrato coming in as you hold the key, but all subsequent notes the LFO/Vibrato would sound immediately as its oscillation cycle is not reset when you press a new key (hope that made some sort of sense 🙂)
The Ring Modulation is similar to FM but fundamentally different. The ring mod is amplification modulation and only effects oscillator 2. FM is where Oscillator 2 itself is used to modulate Oscillator 1. In the Synth 1 you can’t use FM if Ring Mod is activated and vice Verda. To me the Ring Mod introduces a sort of metallic element if you experiment with it, whereas FM can produce a wider variety of timbres like bell like sounds, reeds, strings etc.

@@rogerioalves4038 Hi, what sort of problem are you having. I’m running Windows 10 and all works ok. Can’t recall exact procedure off top of my head, but I believe it’s:
Download the ‘dll’ file
Copy the dll file into your VST folder (wherever you have all your other VST files)
When you open your DAW it should then scan the folder and add Synth 1 automatically in your list of VSTs

where is the download when i go to the website
There's a menu list to the left of the picture of the synth on the web page , click on the one that says downloads and this should bring up links for the windows or mac download options. Click on the relevant link and will open , the pages might open in Japanese but my browser automatically translated them. Tbh I don't remember it being that complicated when I downloaded it, they might have changed the website recently.

I just downloaded this and it's not making any sounds and when I hover my mouse over it it just gets all glitched up. What should I do?
All I can suggest is deleting it and reinstalling it, to see if it still does it. Also what DAW are you using, could be a setting in there as to why you’re not getting any sound.
Have You learnt how to manage to load the presets banks?
Can't remember now how to do It, but I think this Is the problem....

Yep, you can design your own sounds using all the functionality demonstrated and then save them as individual presets so can recall them later.

Unfortunately this synth sounds terrible.
Don't know how to use it I guess.
