    it's funny how everyone goes crazy about cable management, spending 8 hours meticulously tucking, wrapping, and hiding cables to every square inch of their under desk space. Meanwhile you can hide them with a flat panel in about 5 minutes and it's completely removable.

    • @Cipher_8
      @Cipher_8 2 года назад +20

      Yeah but not everyone has a desk flush to the wall of want more foot room. The false wall stops the latter.

    • @swmedianz

      That’s pretty lazy

    • @calebwooldridge242
      @calebwooldridge242 2 года назад +5

      @@swmedianz indeed it's lazy, that's the point. Unless you have your build complete before you start cable management, it is a pita to add or remove later on, whereas foam board with a couple pieces of velcro tape is not.

    • @cyanyde4950
      @cyanyde4950 2 года назад +6

      @@swmedianz as my welding and engineering instructor told us once, "rule of thumb why stand when you can sit and why sit when you can lay down never make doing something harder or more time consuming than it needs to be", be practical and be efficient the results will always turn out better than if you stayed struggling to fight against the job you're doing, so as seemingly lazy as it would be it does the exact same job with better results in appearance and keeps from possibly kicking the outlet socket out from being plugged into your power strip, so not only does it hide wires better it prevents any accidental wear and tear on them too.

    • @shadowsaber3145
      @shadowsaber3145 2 года назад +7

      If you put a false wall just to hide the cables it's not smart. It's easier to take the time to manage your cables once so it will be easier when you upgrade stuff in your setup

    10:03 If you want to make a custom keyboard its not really that hard to get into unless your joining Group Buys, which you shouldnt when starting out. If you go somewhere like KBDFans you can find some keyboards kits that make it as easy as putting your own switches and keycaps on. (though ofc id recommend lubing the switches and stabilizers) personally i didnt mess up on my first build and im pretty sure you wont either if you just get a kit that you wont need to buy all the different parts for. also do ur research just incase XD

    My word the difference between that nano-ips and the tn from the dell is night amd day. I have recently upgraded again to a dell S2721dgfa (same ips panel as the lg) so my s2716dg might serve as a third monitor if i have room and if it looks somewhat decent after calibrating.
    Other than that, very nice setup with the desk. Always nice to see a good video like this from a countryman! Your obs video's also taught me a bunch of stuff.

    As much as I like this, how I cover up my cables is with a square cable tie holder and just have the cable tie on by 5 clicks so it’s not 100% tight against the cables so if I need to remove something it’s not too difficult

    I used to have a Linmon desk. The reason I'm saying 'used to' is because my heavy duty microphone arm went right through the cardboard and left a hole in the desk lol.

    It seems like the Micke drawers you used have changed on the Ikea website. The images show that the bottom drawer goes all the way to the very bottom of the unit, without a slat below it. I guess that in order to use these drawers you would need to raise them up with something, otherwise the drawer will scrape against the ground (or carpet). I'm still looking around for the best drawer set, without going up the Alex which is relatively expensive

      I noticed the same thing when I googled it, but where I live there's 2 versions. 1 with 5 wheels that's as you describe, and one with 4 wheels that still has the bottom slat. It's roughly 5 bucks cheaper (when converted to dollars) , hopefully it's available in your region as well if you haven't found an alternative yet
