Luke was a friend of my mother's. He kissed me in 1969 when I was a wee baby. That is the greatest blessing to have received and I am sharing it here with you.
Kelly was and always will be the greatest singer to grace our green island and no one will ever fill his shoes. "The voice has been silenced and there'll never be another one like it" - Phil Coulter.
No doubt!.There has been many an 'Pretender to the throne' but none have ever really lived up to the expectationz! .So there was&will only be one Like Kelly!.'They broke the Mold, when he was made!👍☘️🇮🇪
Luke Kelly was such an amazing singer and performer. I’m a fiddle player and love John Sheahan’s playing. I think this has to be be one of his best as an accompanist to Luke’s singing
One of my favorite songs. Luke was a one of a kind orignal. He was taken from us far to soon. Everything he did was outstanding. At least we have the videos and recordings.
I have listened to the song countless times only came across this recording and thought wow a complete version of this song on in the other version it cuts out at the end but with us you get to hear him singing completely so thank you
Beautiful song well done Luke. The best singer I have ever heard. I Love the Dubliners. Thank God I had the chance too meat them all. They were a great bunch of singers.😢 There will never be the likes of them again. God Bless all of them.
I must away now, I can no longer tarry, This morning's tempest, I have to cross. I must be guided without a stumble, Into the arms, I love the most. And when he came to his true love's dwelling, He knelt down gently upon a stone, And through her window, he's whispered lowly, Is my true love within, at home? Wake up, wake up, love, it is thine own true lover. Wake up, wake up, love, and let me in. For I am tired, love, and oh, so weary, And more than near, drenched to the skin. She's raised her up on her down soft pillow, She's raised her up and she's let him in, And they were locked in each other's arms, Until, that long night was past and gone. And when the long night was past and over, And when the small clouds began to grow, He's taken her hand and they've kissed, and parted, Then he saddled and mounted, and away did go. I must away now, I can no longer tarry, This morning's tempest, I have to cross. I must be guided without a stumble, Into the arms I love the most.
And that this song would be sung again, on stage in Europe, by Luke prior to his death, and be the last song ( as far as I know) that he would ever sing on stage.

His last official performance. What a lost! Greatest ever! The voice of Ireland!
This is not his last performance, - it took place in december 1983
In my opinion Luke Kelly was the best singer Ireland ever produced.
The best folk singer from anywhere!
No doubt!.There has been many an 'Pretender to the throne' but none have ever really lived up to the expectationz!

Wholeheartedly agree, a voice I've never and probably never will hear as good as.
Beautiful setting, song, and singer. A treasure piece. RIP all.
A treasure. Beautiful singer, beautiful song, beautiful setting. RIP all.
I love that Luke put his heart into the songs he sang. Swaying from side to side, eyes closed. How to do justice to this beautiful song.

Luke in his prime ...a really fine singer of ballads. Heard him in the Great Hall in UCD in the 1070s he had extraordinary projection .
Never seem this quality uploaded. Lovely. Thank you very much, amazing performance from luke ❤

Very difficult to find a chanter as good as Luke many have tried but few prevailed, as the record says ''HIS MASTERS VOICE''
Follow that, if you can. The Legend, Luke.
One of Luke‘s last live performance. He was already so ill at this stage. Brilliant unique singer!
Wasn't one of his last ones, same song as his last televised performance though!
Thanks for sharing 💕👍
There will never be another like you luke rip ❤️
Pure class

Such a familiar time, that now seems so long ago.....
Time stand's still for no man I suppose but still miss the simplicity of it all.
Great clip thank you I wonder did they preform again on this episode one of the best irish bands ever
Not one of the best Irish bands ever. THE BEST IRISH BAND EVER, no one touches them and no one ever will!
It was filmed in October 1981
To think Luke was gone only 2 years later 😢 Legend 🇮🇪💚
Grá mo chroí sibh Luke, Ronnie, Barney agus John 🇮🇪
Grá go Éireann! Tá na Dubliners agat!
hard to believe that Luke Kelly died two years later.....

@@mairead6154 oh I thought the last time was on the LLS.... still one of the best.
@@mairead6154 Yes, this was the last one he ever sang on stage.
@@fedegroxo Thanks for confirming, Federico.

Luke is unique.

Michael😊🇨🇮🇨🇮🎤Michael
