AWSOME VIDEO i wasted all morning trying to find and adapter to make my cord work. this video was the best step by step so i could wire the 4 prong plug to my 3 wire automotive lift and plug into my generator. THANK YOU !!!!!!! I'm a subscriber now great info so helpful
This helped me so much! I watched a bunch of videos before finding yours and you are the only one that explained what to do with the neutral/ground wire.
No problem, I'm glad that my video could help you. I also have a couple of downloadable links with documents on the subject Envy descriptions area.
I tried this with a 4 wire and left the copper grounded to the box on the outlet end and it would not go over 40 amps thank you for this...
No problem I'm glad my video could help you
thank you kindly for the explanation and visuals for the wiring,. this is exactly what I needed today to get the welding started.
No problem and thank you I'm glad the video could help you
Nice 👍
Excellent video!
Through video! If you could help me out on my situation, i would appreciate it. I have a predator 3500 generator that has a twist lock outlet(lr30) it only outputs 125v. So there isn't flow restriction i would like to use my welding machine 240v power cord(6-50p male) instead of the 125v power cord.
How do i go about making/wiring an extension cord thats a has a l5-30p male end and a 6-50 p female end ?
Do i only need to use two wire instead of the three? Ie
Ground to Ground
Black (Hot) to black
Then leave the neutral open
Would this be the correct way of doing things?
not sure if you realized it but you had a few cut places on the wire on the outlet, should have took green wire loosen it too and cut the the old wire and stripped it further down the cable wire, may not cause a problem, but safer to start out with on nicked wire. I saw the cut on white wire when you was starting to connect it, other than my earlier comment and this one a good how to video
Just right , thanks
Thank you, I'm glad that my video could help you.
Excellent video, lots of good info
I'm glad that my video could help you take a look in my descriptions I have a lot of documents on the subject also
Yo what up Dre my 1st time checking out ya video I liked and follow your page
Great job lil bra, good illustration good camera lighting and positioning, I've learned something from watching your contact
Thank you for the positive comments, sometimes you need to be reassured that you're doing things right. I really appreciate you liking and following my page. I also return the favor I subscribed and liking your videos. We need to be here for each other through this RUclips venture. Again I appreciate the positive comments Big Homie Thanks
I thought it didn't matter when wiring 220v since x and y both give out 110v.
Trust me I felt the same way but through careful research and looking through a lot of diagrams it seems that it matters. If you take a look down at my useful links area I have multiple diagrams to show you how I found out that it matters. It is in my description area.
Great video. Can you explain why you’d use the ground instead of the neutral?
Because the neutral wire carries current back to the source is like a loop.
@@JOATD I thought ground was used to take current back in the event of a short and that ground and neutral were electrically the same in the panel?
@paulyshore98 no they are not the same. Neutral is a current-carrying conductor ground is not.
@@JOATD thank you for the explanation. I had to do some more digging so I could fully understand why you wouldn’t use the common as the ground.
@paulyshore98 I can understand whenever you're dealing with 240-volt I'd do as much research as I could too. Lol I do not like playing with electricity.
No bulshit once you explained this to me I was like duh😅 thank you man!
No problem lol, I'm glad that my video could help you.
Hi thank you for your video. Can you make a dog bone
Connector from a 50 amp Receptacle to the 30 amp plug?
Do you mean like one for an RV
If you're talking about a plug for an RV yes you can. if you take a look at my descriptions I have a lot of different documents on these plugs and how they're wired together
Thank you so much. Love your videos. I got it all figured out. Cheers!
if your're going to plug it into a 4 prong outlet, will you need to alter the wireing in the outlet? Great video, thanks
No it should be the same as a generator
Thank you I'm glad my video could help
My 60 gallon air compressor has 3 wire set up and I need to plug it into 4 hole receptacle on my generator! Can I wire the air compressor to 4 prong plug just like your doing and plug it into the generator??
I don't really feel comfortable answering that question. Without knowing what type of receptacle and plug combination you're going to use. This is electricity were talkin about. Lol
Did you find out how to do that ? I’m facing same problem
@@JOATDhe's basically talking about hooking a 3 wire compressor to a 4 prong plug like the one in your video. Generators uses 4 prong twist lock. Most 60gal air compressors use a regular 3-wire 220 volt plug.
No it depends on how many volts your air compressor takes. That four prong plug on your generator is 240 volts. That air compressor probably is only 120 volts. It will not work it'll probably catch on fire. I would suggest you not do that.
