I’ve had 12 Raccoon Tetra’s since April of this year in a mature cycled planted 29G along with 6 Honey Gourami, a few Panda Cory’s and 4 Neon Tetra. Not one has colored up yet, not even close. Very disappointed so far in the Raccoons.
Panda’s have even been spawning in this tank.😊

bwood, do you know if there are any male Raccoons in your group? If you bought them from me and ended up with all females, I'd be happy to send you some males at no cost. Just email a pic showing they are all females to hello@dansfish.com and we'll take care of the rest. If you do have both males and females, then for the life of me I don't know why the males are not colored up after having them for so long...that would be a first for me - Dan

You have my interest peaked Dan. These Green Leaf Algae eating shrimp seem pretty cool and appear to be uncommon. I can find little to no info on them. I am interested in getting some but want to know what I am getting into first. Is there a care guide around? Will they breed in my tank? Are they safe with Neo cherries? I have never owned Amanos as it seems they don't really reproduce. I LOVE my flag fish, but don't want to put them in a tank with shrimp. And my main shrimp tank has plenty of hair algae. Thanks for the videos, you have great info and have exposed me to several new things like this shrimp in the past!

Here's what I know about these shrimp: They are super hardy. They eat tons if algae. They seem to change colors according to their mood. That's my experience with them.and that's all I know about them because I can't find any info about them either.

I have a group of raccoon tetras that I got from a local hobbyist it contains one or two males and about six or seven females They have colored up for me however the tank that they are in currently is not ideal for a good photos of them if I can get some I will definitely share them with you! I'm hoping I can get them to breed but I might need to increase the number of them and give them a larger tank in order to get some good breeding behavior I've definitely seen the most dominant male of the group flaring and showing what I assume to be breeding behavior but no eggs or fry that I can determine yet
