How does Josephine remember everyone's feet?? She's basically Ollivander with a shop full of boxes and remembering every pair of feet she's seen 🤣🤣 "Long vamp....narrower on the right."
She keeps a profile sheet of every dancer she fits. It’s pretty detailed and she’ll track the different shoes and how it fits. She fitted me in my Grishko pointe shoes yrs ago.
Hello, Josephine. I have always wanted to start ballet again (I did it for one year as a little girl) you have encountered me and made me feel like it was possible to start again. My first class is tomorrow!!!
I'm an adult who always wanted to do ballet and dance and never got the opportunity and now I'm taking my first class! Long way to go before pointe, but I love it so far :)
I started pointe prep today (/yesterday, it's the small hours of the morning aha) and I'm so excited!! I'm in Grade 5 and I'm so happy to finally be at the point - pun not intended - that I am now finally!
I just found this channel and I'm so happy people have fitters like you. Truly important work in the dance community. I distinctly remember back when I was a dancer that I could not afford the pair of shoes that actually fit me best and I was crushed. I had to just by the other ones that were not terrible but definitely not the right fit. Also I NEW MY FEET SHRANK 🤣 people think I'm coo coo
Josephine! You have such a rare talent, it’s wild!! Fellow adult dancer here who did pointe as a kid, stopped, returned as an adult, stopped for years…and now contemplating the future again!! Thank you so much for showing such a variety of dancers from such a variety of walks of life. It really makes dance seem accessible to everyone 💗💗💗
Oh my, I would love to be fitted by you! I am no great ballerina, but the more your fitting videos I see, the more I also see how badly I have been fitted... I was like "my toe knuckle hurts pretty bad..." and the lady told me "this is the widest shoe I can give you, you'll have to work on it and it becomes less and less painful"... now I have the knowledge and I see that it is actually too wide for me and I am sinking in the shoe. Definitely need a different pair
Wow, sounds like when I bought "toe shoes(!)" years ago!! I didn't do too well with pointe work, simply because my shoes weren't properly fit, and they felt so stiff, painful, and heavy, that I really had a hard time dancing in them. Basically, all our store carried were Capezios and Selva, and I have a long and wide, relatively flat foot!!
my mom couldn’t afford ballet classes when i was younger but i still really wanted to do it! now as an adult i can use my own finances to pursue one of my passions ☺️
It's interesting what you said about the foot modification in length/width, because I felt the exact same thing to me this year. Through my almost seven years as an adult ballet dancer I always had to use the narrowest widht possible but I noticed this year that my foot has became wider at the same time it's becoming stronger. I had to go from width 1 to width 3 in my pointe shoes and from size 6 to size 6.5.
I did ballet for 8 years as a kid ! Never got onto pointe though always wished I could of carried on but started to get panic attacks if I left the house so quit 😂🤦🏼♀️🙃
On the two most recent pairs of shoes that I have, I've basically cracked the wing where it meets the box, so the side of the wing is seperate from the rest of the shoe. How can I prevent this from happening?
I love Josephine ❤️ she is so sweet, funny, an does an amazing job finding the right point shoe for everyone! When I get my point shoes, she's needs to fit me too!😩🙏🏽
I'm not a dancer, I just love these videos. I have a question. How and why do dancers big toes bend when they point their toes? Mine stays straight. Is this a trained thing? Doesn't it hurt to stand on a bent toe more than a straight one? Thanks.
Hi! I'm on my second year of doing ballet and still haven't been on pointe yet, so kind of a newbie here so someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it is mainly because of how stretchy and strong you are on your foot. I feel like some people might have that naturally but It's something you'll eventually get just by strengthening and stretching your foot, which is something you do a lot in ballet.
Flexibility but this is just showing a pointed foot, when it comes to actually being up on pointe your toes should be as straight as possible. Can't be dancing on the joints of crunched toes
Ive been an pointe for a bit now and its not just foot flexibility its to be flexible and strong in the toes so when we are Pointing in our Pointe shoes we try to elongate them not crunch them.
How does Josephine remember everyone's feet?? She's basically Ollivander with a shop full of boxes and remembering every pair of feet she's seen 🤣🤣
"Long vamp....narrower on the right."
i just realized that ur right, she is the ollivander of pointe shoes
How cool would it be if people started referring to shank hardnesses as "nice and supple," "whippy," "sufficiently pliant," or "unyielding."

@@sewitseams5632 nice i didn't know that!
OMG you’re right. She’s definitely Ollivander of the pointe shoe world.

I love watching the adults fittings because they talk more than the kids. It’s great to hear from the dancer.
Love this, Josephine. The new shoes really address her bunion issue and look gorgeous on her feet (which are also beautiful).
thanks Cheryl! :)

My dream is to be a pointe shoe fitter but I don't think it will come true so I'm living secondhand through all your videos. :)
Can u do a review on virtisse
Hello! Can I ask why dancer’s feet are half a size smaller at the beginning of the season? Is it through swelling they get bigger? Thanks!
They get more muscular (i.e. bigger) as the dancers get stronger through the season.
@@jessaglenny ahhh of course! Thanks!
what was the shoe Auti was fitted in? It looked beautiful!
it looks like a Grishko/Nikolay shoe but I'm not sure which one of the brand's shoes
I got my first pair of point shoes today

Weird I’ve never noticed that but I’m and ex gymnast and my toes are bent like that

I stopped dancing and my feet expanded.🤯
Does it ever happen you fit a dancer with different shoes for each foot?
Yes if the dancers feet are different sizes
What about actually different brands not just size?
What shoe is this?
EVERYONE HAS A BANANA & A BISCUIT
Sigh... I long to get my pointe shoes back. But I don't think it's going to happen. :(
Huh?
