    I think the advice is usually to club up so you can swing easier. Since you already swing easy all the time, your distances are already calibrated for that so no need for you to club up. Thanks for the demo!

    The video is fantastic golf wisdom. You are very merciful to this individual because you don’t have to defend or justify your shot choice. You know your game, therefore, you make the choice that fits your physical and mental game. I appreciate your videos and have learned a lot about shot choice. Maybe you should show the world all the golf awards and trophies you have. Great video!!!!!!

    Good illustration of lack of change and possibly more trouble when clubbing up. We short hitters need to get a solid short game to chip to one putt. Glad to hear you're getting a chance to practice the second shot clubs.
    What a concept..more practice equals a more better outcome. We can all learn something here.
    I'm getting ready for our match play tourneys. Practice practice, practice

    I enjoy the content. Maybe for an older guy like me maybe give your tips/advice for consistent contact or what you do. Or take a new golfer out on the course/range and give tips. I’m back in after 13 years and am totally inconsistent with flush contact. Hit a good shot and the next 4 go where ever. I think it’s going all out on my swing when I should probably dial it down to 75-80% swing. Easy to say and think but naturally hard to do. Mentally I say easy but naturally I go all out. Any tips for that?

    • @mistahshorthitter
      @mistahshorthitter  3 месяца назад +1

      I'll think on that. I've never tried to hit the ball hard. I just swing at a normal pace. I may have an idea.

    Best advice I've ever gotten when I was younger and could hit a ball a mile. Was getting killed by an old guy and he looked at me after one of my shots and said "why do you swing so hard" I had no answer and he said "Take one club less and swing easier" Best golf advise i've ever gotten. Who cares what the number at the bottom of the club is, just use the one that gets you there every time, not sometimes.

    My home course has elevated greens that don’t have a flat spot on them. If you go over the greens you usually can’t see the cup on your next shot. Short is the preferred miss where I play.

    I came to golf from an athletic background and although I have not become a good golfer, I do have an opinion on this that I think makes sense. Again, from an athletic point of view, it makes a lot more sense to use a stronger club because it should increase your room for error. If on a given shot you have 2 options, one requires that the shot be hit perfectly, and the other with say a 3/4 swing, the second option is a lot more doable for most of us. For the average golfer I think that's the best option- even up here in Canada! lol

    • @mistahshorthitter
      @mistahshorthitter  3 месяца назад +1

      @canuck_gamer3359 Keep doing what's working for you. The video was about taking more club with the same swing. Using your process, it would mean taking 75% swings with both clubs. I never play for a perfect shot no matter what club I'm hitting. I play for average shots.

    When I try to take more club I almost always come up short because I know I have too much club and either decelerate or shorten my swing too much. I find taking 2 more clubs and shortening my swing works better for me.

    One of the biggest differences between your average amateur and your highly-skilled player, whether Tour pro, elite am, or just random scratch club guy is their skill at playing recovery and short-game shots. Those players can take on the extra risk because they have extra skill that can save their par more often than not, and when things work out, the extra risk gives them a great birdie chance.
    I agree with your premise. Take the more safe option unless you just really feel good about the situation. As your skill improves, you increase your aggression (within reason) when the situation allows.

  • @rlake349
    @rlake349 3 месяца назад

    But if you play the more aggressive strategy you would increase your chances of holing out more often. However, I do agree with the conservative strategy if you’re playing to shoot your best score by the odds. I appreciate the content you put out, very informative. Thanks!

    It's 18 for 18 at my course, and the other course in town. Short every time, mostly due to high mounds on the back side. A couple of times due to nasty downhill rolls.
    It gets bit more complicated, though. Short from a fat or wrong club choice is still really annoying. Going long because you absolutely flush it may not be good for score, but you can say "wow, I hit that great!"

    If you're a consistent ball striker then hit the club you hit but if you're like a lot of us (me), I'm not a consistent ball striker especially since I turned 65 :). When I hit my 7 flush it goes 140, but most of the time it's going 135 ish, so in general I club up unless there is a severe helping wind or the green's elevation is below my feet.

    Love your content but I believe your going too far into the other end. All your examples show why clubbing up puts you in rough positions (pun intended) but there are times that clubbing up is the correct approach given some circumstances with the player & course design.
    I believe the "clubing up" advice is a bastardization for aiming to the back of the green. Most amateurs don't have perfect knowledge of lies or a consistent swing. This usually results in short than expected shots. This is especially the case if the yardages were based on having perfect even lies and physical condition. Like all swing or course management tips things the entire though process should be laid out to highlight the pros & cons of every approach so viewers can learn to think critically on the course instead of playing copy-paste golf.
