It was an in-game quantum fluctuation that randomly produced a lower entropy version of the level. Same probability as shaking a box of Scrabble letter and having it spell out an entire paragraph in English.
Love learning new stuff about this old ass game. (Also, I love being a "Can't believe we're still learning new stuff about this game X years later!" basic bitch.)
Interesting. Normally, the door is blown open already, but it's intact when the glitch happens. I have a theory. Maybe it was planned that the door explodes, like in CE, to hide a loading area. However, they got rid of it and left the original door. Maybe this happens when it loads the door and fails to run or load codes that bypass the door spawn. As for why the door still exists, removing it might also prevent the following area from working. It might not load or freeze enemies, or events don't occur since they happen after the explosion.
Did you try throwing nades through it to see if the door can be ghosted? I find the door between Hangar 1 room and the hallway confusing. Hangar side won't allow nades through but they will go through from hallway side.
I'm not sure throwing nades into the wall is an indication that it can be ghosted. Although I didn't ghost this one. Anakade was able to ghost past another door when this happened to him and the level just works normally. This glitch isn't that exciting on its own, I just want to be able to recreate it to maybe expand on it with more knowledge.
@@MisterMonopoli Yeah, nade throwing on walls doesn't work, but it works for doors (mostly) and is a good indication that ghosting is available. The only time it really fails is when we've crossed a LZ and nades still go through the closed door we've just passed. Even boring glitches help expand our knowledge, so keep digging, mate. A few months back, I was playing with Terminator's tank trick on DH. Found that I could teleport it from map 2 back onto map 1. It's a one time trick only, so it's not working like a portal and it works anywhere. I've seen gamers teleport the weapon drop pods but not the tank. Don't think he knew? I'm hoping it will allow me to get under the map in SP, but it's a long shot...
If you click save and quit and then click resume it will be the same as before. You will need to choose cairo from the level select screen instead. If its still happening every time from that screen then that is something I have never seen before.
@@dustincampbell265 Oh man, thats brutal! If it makes you feel better, you are the first person I have ever heard have this happen on MCC. So thats pretty neat lol
@@dustincampbell265 Could you do me a favor and not delete the progress just yet? It might be interesting if you could send me the save file. Are you on PC or Console? Could you record a clip of it for me?
This is part of the script and happens on loading the level you could break other things besides the door potentially. Like enemies preventing their spawning or removing npcs from cutseens could be big in legendary runs to skip some hanger waves. I been working on it since harc told me about it but man my original xbox controllers suck. :( and no documented cases for the door have happened in mcc so makes it a original xbox bug I believe.
That box after 9 months 🤰
Why that door even exists there is beyond me.
I would have to guess the hallway segments are just like that, pasted around, and it normally (obviously) opens with the load gate

Imagine not knowing how to do this and this happens accidentally. You'd think you stumbled into the Halo backrooms.
Imagine being the first person to ghosting and thinking this always happens so you never try it again.

Why cant that door be phased through?

Nice soft lock glitch.
What would recreating this glitch even do?

Is the door not supposed to be there or is it not supposed to be closed and locked like that?
it is supposed to be blown up
@@lukthamanop's asking about the inner door that was closed after the clip.
