Great video Capt Leon. Thinking about purchasing a Yamaha for the 2022 season and running it around in the GSB. Glad to know the boats are holding up to salt water after 8 years. Will revisit your videos if/when I get the boat for tips and tricks.
Hey Capt! I'm looking at upgrading wheels on the trailer to my 2019 SX195. I'm also mostly salt water. Anything special you took into consideration when you purchased yours?
Well they said the best for salt water use is the ugly galvanized wheels, but I really wanted something nicer. I went with aluminum and decided to take my chances. I hit them with spray wax now and then for protection. After one complete season they are still perfect. I would just avoid steel wheels. Make sure to watch my video covering the radial tires and wheels install.
Paulie, I purchased an Attwood model similar to this. They keep changing designs and even I had to drill an additional hole to get it to fit, so don't expect it to be an exact replacement for the factory one: a.co/d/53aWj5n
Thrust Vector will help tremendously with low speed control and maneuverability while moving forward. Lateral Thruster will help just as much while moving in reverse.
Great Video! Enjoy seeing all your mods. Where did you get the bow light? Can you share the link? Also can you link the video to your helm modification? Thanks!

Hey Paul, thanks for watching and congrats on the boat. I know what you mean about drilling. As long as you measure, inspect and be certain before you drill, it should all come out fine. Also remember that fiberglass is easily fixable. Professionals can make it look like you never drilled. Good luck.

Hi Capt. I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a 2023 SX190. I 've watched all of your videos, and I have a few questions. What cover do you use for your boat? Do you trailer with it on? During the boating season when not using the boat do you put the cover on. Your advise, information is appreciated.
Hey Joseph, wow a 2023! You must be super excited. I still love my 190 as much as the day I got it. Now to your good questions. I use the Yamaha black deluxe mooring cover on the boat for all times when the boat is not in use during the summer. When we trailer to the ramp we leave the cover at home. After washing the boat from our saltwater use I reinstall the cover. In the winter I use the white felt backed transport cover that the boat came from the factory with. Make sure your dealer gives that to you, some discard it. Hope that helps, congrats!!
Capt Leon- I have a 2016 yamaha 242 limited e and was wondering if you have a video of how to replace the reverse cable or directional control cable. Thank you.
Hey Jeff, I’m sorry I don’t. Most of my videos are generated as a result of need involving my own boat. Thankfully, I haven’t had that need yet, LOL. Wish I could help, and thanks for watching!
It's possible, whether it's good for the boat is another thing...lol. Growth begins to grow on the bottom of boat while it is in the water. If it's salt water this growth can be extensive including barnacles, but fresh water causes growth too. You can bottom paint a hull to avoid this, but the issue is the intake grate, impeller and the rest of the jet pump. These components need a smooth flow of water without restriction, growth can really gum up the works. Do an experiment by pulling the boat after 2-3 days and checking it for problems, if all is well try it for longer periods. Always remember your bilge should be on and powered up sensing for infiltration of water anytime the boat is in the water.
Fantastic video Capt Leon! Thank you for sharing. I am yet to receive my sx190, I was told early spring, but I look forward to installing some of these mods. Could you please share the part number/link for your Stoltz roller? Many thanks.

Hi Chad, that boat weighs close to 2500-3000 lbs. loaded. Tongue weight should be between 250-300lbs. You are fine where you are, it's close. If you slide the winch stand back an inch on the trailer tongue you will lesson tongue weight if you feel you must.

Captn Leon. How often or ever do you wish you had the 195 vs 190? I'm not obsessed w top speed like some guys are but I'm worried the 190 will struggle pulling the kids or w a full load. Thanks!
Hey Eric, I'm in my 9th season with my 190 and I never wished I had the 195. I will say we have pulled a tuber with 4 or 5 people on the boat with no problem. I also routinely hit 43-44 mph. Like you I'm not a speed demon. If you're going to always have a packed boat and always looking to do water sports then maybe the 195 is better, just not for me. Factor in the fuel burn, on Boattest.com they indicate its like 70% more fuel used in the195 at WOT. Wait it gets worse, the greater fuel burn is also at 93 octane vs. the 87 octane of the 190. Many will tell you the 195 is the way to go, and the newer hull design from 2019 on is a bit slower, but for me, my 2014 190 is just perfect.
