With chains the bearings can burst and pop out without warning when they wear out! With string you can see it starting to fray. I learnt that the expensive way (broken window).
Well, they were a cheap pair bought off a street market in the 90s, my first set. I’ve never had it happen with proper chain nunchaku. But I oil the bearings now. Still prefer string though!
How about chain spread !? I have spread my links by whipping. Meaning under arm hold and throwing a punch like whip . The links will break at the welded seem. Every had that problem!?
Haha no can't say I have. But I do have repair kits to fix my chucks when they start to have issues. But geez man good going on whipping those chucks haha
Idk maybe they were defected or something. Haha. I can also punch holes in a old refrigerator by that method. I used the black octagon chain nunchuks . I'm no expert on using them just seem to be able to do this for some reason.
Hey not bad at all. You would be surprised on how many don't train a martial art but still chuck. Next step...making you a apair of nunchucks. Its so fun!
Ohhhhh.. well I guess I could. I only have one pair of mettel chucks right now...not sure how good they are but something I can definitely work on. That would be fun to show the difference on.
So, the two old hammer handles with screw eyes and a rusty chain connecting them that I put together in the '80's wasn't a great choice? No wonder they hurt so badly when I tried them- no rotation!
I prefer my 7 short link chains. Over those 10 or more link chains. I practice witj them and the chucks are strong enough to break cow skulls with a strike. I personally feel like rope chucks bounce more easily than chains. I just dont use strings at all tho
Chain is so good and satisfying to swing...as it boost the confidence of the person who swings nunchaku and pleasant for the people who watches it. Chain nunchaks are so manly and a weapon look, which actually fears the oppenent to an extent. Soon you take out and roll it wow...the enemy steps back. This is just my personal liking on chain.🙂
Sounds like a solid choice. If I was ever in a situation were I had to use them I would definitely want a chain pair. More weight and hopefully more damage. Thanks for watching!
Chain nunchaks suck big time. I bought it last december 18th and today the ball chain broke and one of the wooden sticks flew over hittin the window. I am scared af now. Its happened to me twice now. Dunno if its the force which i exert or what. I feel disapointed and dunno what to do, cuz i really enjoyed training with it.
The string ones are a pair of white wax wood i have had forever. I did a review of them if you want to check it out. The chain ones are a pair I made with carved coi fish.
The chained ones are easier for me to use, but they start to squeak eventually. So it depends on if I’m showing friends or not, squeaky nunchucks would get annoying.
I have those basic common chain foam nunchucks . I want to improve my speed, will the string ones be faster ? And are they as reliable ( will they break easily if you go extremely fast )
I personally don't see any difference in speed. The chain does alow more tricks because it doesn't bind, but string is quiet and the string is durable. If it ever breaks i have a video on how to repair it.
Yeah and I hate that other places don't have access. You might make your own. There pretty simple and don't have to be perfect to start using them. I have a few videos on my channel showing how I make some cheap ones if you want to check them out.
I just purchased some hard maple chucks with paracord string, and when they get here in about 3 weeks, I can't wait to compare. Something is telling me that I'll still dig the chain and u swivel more though. That u swivel makes me 💦 I know nothing is going to happen to them. Hope all is well, brother
Heck yeah. I like both for different reasons. Chain is my go to for my daily pair. Cant beat the sound as they roll around. Then again having a pair of silent chucks has its advantages. Appreciate you watching!
My suggestion would be to make some. It's pretty easy with some basic tools and materials. I have done some videos on making rope chucks you can check out if you like!
Finally got my first pair of string nunchuks, immediatley noticed the difference in the weight(10 oz)and my speed isnt that good on them. Hopefully next year I can get good with them and eventually get an aluminum one with chains
Good video, well done, and I am not trying to be critical or rude, but I am a taekwondo instructor and I find it very odd you would block that way with a nunchuck.
Well like most martial art moves i call it a "block" but that doesn't mean that's what it actually is. But I do appreciate you not being rude. What do you use this "block" for?
@@ScottyKarate my father taught me the basics when I was a kid. Now I'm 42, and hit up USANunchaku not too long ago, and am back to basics again😂 It's a biaaatch, considering there's no nanchakujitsu schools around. I did Muay Thai for years, and am grateful for it.. But I just wanna chuck, man😂
The chain noise is part of whole experience which I like.
Most chain chucks have a piece in the swivels that breaks easily parachord is boss
Haha paracord is boss!
Yup, and nylon

Oh geez! Well I have never had a pair have the barring break, that sounds horrible. I trade mine out a lot so that helps. But definitely good to know!

Hey well thanks. I kinda like it too haha!
Question for the viewer: What is your favorite, String or Chain?
Chain 100 percent
Nice! How long have you been in the chuck life?
@@ScottyKarate maybe a year and a half. mostly as a self discipline. Nothing like the nunchucks, so much fun.

@@ScottyKarate beleave it or not the nunchucks im taking about i did make :D haha
can you make a vid about wood vs metal nunchucks to see witch one dose more damage
Ohhhhh.. well I guess I could. I only have one pair of mettel chucks right now...not sure how good they are but something I can definitely work on. That would be fun to show the difference on.
Thanks for the suggestion!!
@@ScottyKarate nice i have the same belt holder in the top right corner on the vid emotions during a fight
@@ScottyKarate welcome
Haha well thats pretty cool! I just made one for my kid. If you havent seen it yet you should check it out. Its super cheep and I think I looks great!

Very cool. I agree there is definitely a cool factor with chain chucks
I like string for practice and chain for combat.
Sounds like a solid choice. If I was ever in a situation were I had to use them I would definitely want a chain pair. More weight and hopefully more damage. Thanks for watching!
I'm the opposite, really cool you prefer chain

Chain, because durability is important.
True. Because ninjas aren't gonna fight themselves 😁
what nunchucks r in this vid?

Chain for me 👍🏽👍🏽

The chained ones are easier for me to use, but they start to squeak eventually. So it depends on if I’m showing friends or not, squeaky nunchucks would get annoying.
This is true. One of my videos im going to make is ways to clean and maintain your chucks to help prevent that.

String .. silence is golden..I don't want you aware when your going to get struck
Haha well hopefully only in self defense....from behind...that situation when you are being attacked while their back is turned hahaha
Chain for life.
I’ll get one of each
Good plan! 👍

Cord cause if u break the chain your pretty much done. I love my chain but I'm tired of breaking them and the Squeaking
Just get another link and fix it no?
Nice
Thanks I appreciate it. What type of chucks do you like to use?
Gotta go with the U Swivel with chain, baby!
