it's only slow embers at the minute, another new one Thursday the 24th, possible Monday 28th as well ... busy busy :) Always appreciate your comments and interests mate, chat soon.
@@DivKid At least Lorelei, Pandora and Ivo are already on my list! I like the focus on quality over features, they seem to do one thing and one thing good. That's kind of what I'm looking for in modules.
Yeah that's definitely the "modular" way. Patching simpler focused devices to create the more complex behaviours and processing chains. I find that very appealing.
I like that he's naming these analogue modules after Cocteau Twin songs. Pandora sounds great and the price is right. Thanks for the demo, glad to see you doing them on the regular again.
Yeah it's a great sounding module, which applies to whole line of those Expert Sleepers modules. They've been enjoyable. Double rubber band, haha yeah I like that.
@@DivKid I've just had to re-watch this in anticipation of mine arriving from Signal Sounds tomorrow... Really looking forward to trying out some of the techniques on display here!
WAY TO GO, MR. KID!!! You’ve just sold me the Expert Sleepers Pandora!! Edit: THANKS for showing me the newest most coolest thing to happen to synthesizers since Control Voltages, the rubber band!
the rubber band as macro controller is genius, im off down the shops for a bag of elastic bands and im going to go absolutely mental macro controlling my whole rig....cool module too
master class in patching as usual. i usually go heavy handed, but seeing things used tastefully like parellel processing, feedback with a mixer and mxing modulation are things i need to do more. loved the feedback patch as well as frequency enhancer towards the end. os made a great sounding module.
Hi Thomas, that's a good way to look at it, the leaning to pings, feedback, distortion and tuning of multiple filter points definitely plays into some test equipment technique.
Very cool module and as always an immaculate demo! Those Expert Sleepers modules are well thought out and have some features which aren't as wide spread, they're well built and very affordable. Almost perfect modules. ES is really on top of their game! Sadly i had to send the ones i had back wihtin the money back period of Thomman, because a financial emergency popped up, but i will definitely get them again, once my finances have recovered. :) I really miss the lorelei... The waveshaping, FM and X-Mod created sounds, i just can't create otherwise atm.
Hi Erika, I appreciate that thanks! Good point on the X-Mod on lorelei it does bring out some fantastic sounds. Hope everything ok with the finances and that you can enjoy these again soon.
late to this party and eventhough Andrew just put another new one out today .... I think I might have to pick this one up first! when are you dropping your acid album? thanks for all you are doing!
Hi Adam, so the previews at the start and the first patch in those previews? The full patch for that is at 04:50 in the video. That's just distortion from the drum beat. I didn't make a separate track from that.
you can get it oscillating and sequence it. But it's not tracking 1v/oct so for quantised tunings you'll have to work hard to get it behaving that way. The vactrols on the filter controls aren't helping that either.
Fabulous, as always! Thanks! I thought band pass filters were made by placing LP and HP filters in series, so what's the big deal about not calling Alpha and Beta the LP and HP controls?
I don't think of this as Moog "gone west coast" it's still a Moog synth just with that extra flavour from the wave folder. There's the saw wave on the oscillator and the square, then the triangle and square on the LFO. There's also no CV control on the folder, hence me explore a few ways to vary and modulate that in the video.
I saw your comment and was replying to someone else but got a weird loading thing from RUclips, so the comment shouldn't have gone as a reply to you. I'll copy/paste it into the right place. And yes to those track names from that album certainly seems that's the plan, I wonder what's next track/module name wise.
@@DivKid No worries. Treasure tracks 1-5 all used so far, track 6 is “Amelia”. With the ground covered already maybe a BBD or Chorus? Much as I love Cocteau Twins I’d love anything that could help me do the guitar sound on Felt’s Primitive Painters. A line from that song “Trail of Disgrace” would be a great name for a lo-fi delay.
The camera was nothing special a mk1 Canon M50, sometimes you get the distorted bands moving around but the Mordax DATA has ever been an issue with any camera I've used to film it.
@@Space_pulse I know he is good at support. I read the manual like Algebra, I'd say I've always been pretty 'techie' but for me at least the manual is like a list of ingredients without the recipe. Though that is not to say that I don't find the Disting Mk4 useful and well worth the price tag.
"best module ever isn't even an official module" - where did that come from? I didn't say anything like that in the video. Or did you just want to talk about the Fizzle Guts you find to the best / most exciting for you? Nice to see Fizzle Guts open source for those that can find the original part and make themselves one.
I think it's that noise snare thing, it gets 'Closer' in sound pretty easily. I've turned single modules into weird drum kits a few times and there's always some nice odd results.
The example with the feedback loop and the delay -> is that some otherworldly smootheness!
Yeah that was fantastic.
Holy moly dude you're on fire

@@DivKid You might need to have the 🚒 on standby...
I'm really starting to love these Expert Sleepers modules.
I really enjoy them, simpler analogue modules done well with an interesting quirk or so per module.

@@DivKid On a side note, are you going to review the Joranalogue Cycle 5? 🙏🏼
Really looking forward to that one.
Yeah that's definitely the "modular" way. Patching simpler focused devices to create the more complex behaviours and processing chains. I find that very appealing.
Currently no plans for the Cycle 5, though I'd be up for it as it's always a pleasure working with a nice oscillator.
What a clever, useful little module. I love modules that balance utility and creativity so nicely
13:13 I like me some creepy slower-tempo power noise! That sounds boss!! #industrialmusic
creepy power noise! haha

And just from their album Treasure!
Oh wow! I’d not realised that before now… One of my favourite Cocteau Twins albums too.
When I saw the rubber bands in the preview I just about lost my mind! Sooooo cool!!!! What a great idea!
What a fabulous wee thing! Loved the “Double-Rubberband” hack, proper made me chortle that did.

Absolutely love Expert Sleepers modules. Blown away by the analogue modules they are doing.
I did not find such a great modules review content, like yours.
thank you I appreciate that, hopefully you find lots to explore and try out on the channel.
Now that's a rubbery bandpass filter!
Or a...rubber band'y filter?
You did it again! Ordered one and might need more.
Wow! So glad to see you're back again. Been missing your awesome videos!
thanks, I appreciate that. Looking forward to sharing this one and lots more.
Looks like a great module, great demo Ben!

hahaha please do it, take a picture and tag me so I see it. One knob that fans out all sorts of behaviour across loads would be fun.

thanks for the great comment I really appreciate it. I like to go heavy handy too, then reign it back and find the spaces between those to play in.
Seems like a petite descendant of the test equipment filter/amplifiers that Hainbach (among others) is so fond of. Cool!

haha it was going double rubber band that tipped it over the edge

haha thanks Ken, no plans for an acid album anytime soon. The new envelope from Expert Sleepers looks great too, keen to try that one sometime.
Double plus good on the robberbandpass.
haha thanks
Do you have an exported track for the first bit you show in the “here’s what’s to come in the video” bit? That’s some gnarlyassed acid mate! 🥹

Some mad Fisk Industries - On Thursday vibes going on at 24:00 👌
not a bad thing to get people thinking about. I enjoyed playing that piano pattern.
lovely!
Wish we could have heard a patch of it as a sound source, is it possible to coax a melody out of the thing ?

That's not typically how a bandpass is made, and this one certainly isn't.

No, that's my job!
