I haven't played Smash games in so long that trying to get into Ultimate feels like I've never played it in my life right now. 😂 I like to do my research though, and ended up grabbing Aegis.
I really appreciate the video. I love adjusting my controls to be comfy and optimal, and I just wanted to share what I''ve done with ABXY because it feels very consistent for my controller.
For starters, I have a pro-controller, GuliKit KingKong 2 Pro, to be exact, but I feel this should work on any pro-controller, and even joycons if you're so bold. I have jump on A and B, and I put Special on Y and Attack on X. Basically swapping them, and of course with tap jump off. I keep my thumb resting on all 4 buttons slightly, in the middle. This makes it so I always have easy access to pressing any of them, and if you use A+B to jump, it's always a short jump without having to be frame perfect. You can technically do this with jump being X and Y, but to me it feels more comfortable, as the tip of my thumb is free to swivel between attack and special and the back of my thumb doesn't have to be so accurate just to jump.

Thanks for putting these lessons on RUclips! When MKLeo inevitably does great at a major this year you could always release an episode from his Joker lessons (especially the neutral or matchup ones) 😏

This is great -- thank you! Pertaining to the controller setup portion at the beginning, can you please answer one quick question which has been bothering me for a long time? The question is this:
Do you ever short hop by pressing two jump buttons at once, or do you always short hop just by tapping one jump button quickly?

Most people from my area go with the latter

I personally do both. Sometimes I tap L and Y which are my two jump buttons but I can also just tap Y quickly and get the same effect. Just personal

I personally find it hard to short hop by tapping, especially in the heat of battle. I understand that this is because of a lack of skill. But when I am excited and have adrenaline, etc., my instinct is to hit each button pretty hard... so this makes the one-tap short hop particularly difficult for me!

@@xxMaki That's weird to me simply because I know that's also how you are supposed to IDJ.

    What about recovery mix ups?

Remember you have an extra tool for disadvantage with an extra spot dodge in the form of down b. A lot of the time switching to Pyra can help a lot with recovery as her up B is fast and snaps to ledge better. Just gotta mix them up and react to how your opponent is attempting to edge guard you.

OH MY GOD, THERE ARE ACTUALLY OTHER PEOPLE THAT USE L FOR JUMPING. I play with a pro controller, and i have ZL set as jump. it just feels soo much better

    Let me guess
    Side b at ledge
Run off stage with pyra down air
Use a lot of smash attacks
I'm sure you'll never SD with these tactics😂

He’s literally one of the best players in the world. 😂 Y’all need an ego check. Sure he doesn’t win a ton of tournaments but this man is good enough to consistently get top 16 in majors,
