I’ve stayed at that hotel many times over the years. Noticed the price went up on my last visit. Usually pay $20 but last visit was $29. They updated the gym recently. Still good value
I stayed in SureStay Plus on Sukhumvit 2 and loved it. It’s about £40 per night but everything was modern, spotless and a rooftop pool. That Best comfort will definitely be on my list to try when I’m next over there.

Also within walking distance is the Or-Tor-Kor Market. Second floor has a guitar shop run by Pead he’ll play anything from Neil Young to Blues. Food is wonderful too! Hey there!! Arrived yesterday for my first trip to Thailand and am staying here per your recommendation. I have mixed feelings about it. Amazing location, so close to the action yet not noisy and only $29/night. The downside is that it is very budget minded; spotty WiFi, old very grainy television, no laundry service and bathroom amenities consists of a towel and shampoo/body wash mix. No regrets but if I come back I’ll fork over a few more dollars for a nicer place. And the mattress is rock hard. Great for my back but so much for my shoulders and hips as a side sleeper… keep up the good work. I’ll be in Hua Hin on the 18th
Always so Thankful for your videos...truly am. I hope to retired there for a few months each winter once retired here in the USA 2 to 3 years from now. Thanks for givinng me and others a bird's eye view
Wow, such a drastic contrast between Magical Mentawai and Boomin' Bangkok! The titillation of both areas is clear to see as they provoke the senses in vastly different ways. What a "trip" it has been to experience the contrasts through your lens. What a "trip" it will be to experience these contradictions IRL. You and your videos are a great inspiration for many. Bangkok missed you STL and she hopes you will stay, at least, another week 😉
You made me want to take a drive back to BKK! Have not been for a while. They just opened an El Gaucho near me in Jomtien, and I just found out that the first Tuesday of every month, every steak on the menu is 50% off. Keep those informative videos coming…my favorite.👍
Terminal 21 food court is absolutely tasty and a bargain to boot. Just remember to get enough $$ on your card and then cash it in before you leave. They also have a very nice smoothie stand with mango and more. I was last there towards the end of the pandemic restrictions and so many shops were closed. It's good to see it busy again.

Many thanks for this video!!! I’ve been here at the Best Comfort for several days now. Great location, great WiFi and super friendly staff! You’re right that it needs some updates but it’s comfortable, clean, and reasonably priced!
That is indeed a great price! I wish I knew as I just was in Bangkok haha. Timing is everything I guess. I ended up trying out Dynasty Inn on Sukumvit 4 just South of nana plaza and all the bars there. My main worry was it would be too noisy, but I was pleasantly surprised at clean room and quiet when inside. It is high $40s/night and does not have a gym or pool though. Good to have cheap options on both sides of this area. Just my opinion, but not really a fan of Soi Cowboy. Too much pressure at agogos there + very high costs. Nana plaza offers better experience for those who partake in that kind of thing. I also prefer the regular bars on that side compared to Soi Cowboy area, but perhaps your future videos will enlighten me to some good places to check out. I am willing to change my mind. 🙂
@@SideTripLifeit's only right, especially having been in sales and marketing for many yrs, especially in accommodations and as Island activity specialist in Hawaii. Just left Bangkok for Hua Hin. Stayed at solitaire Sukhumvit 11. Lots of Indians. Nice hotel with great breakfasts and a nice pool. Took the blue line from my dentist office back to Sukhumvit. Interesting. Starbucks sucks. Had the best cappuccino here in Hua Hin today. Great value in that hotel. Sweet gym. Hows the smell? Going south to prachuap khiri Khan on Wednesday. Then I have a choice of either going to Chiang Mai because I bought airline tickets from Hua Hin 2 Chiang Mai and then decided to go to Jomtien Beach instead. But now I'm thinking maybe I made a mistake and I should fly up to Chiang Mai and check it out. Final destination is Pattaya. I'm finding hua hin to be a little too trendy with a little too many familiar faces with kids. Not really my scene anymore. Fell in love with Thailand in the craziness of Bangkok. Smells like an older hotel does but not bad, just old. Many newer/nicer options in next tier 1500-2000 baht but few with pools and walk 5 mins to BTS (have a few favs in this range, may do another vid). In Hua Hin if you go up Soi 94 or 80 you won't see many families lol. Btw, wind mostly blows N/E across the gulf this time of year + higher tides so HH & Prachuap beaches a bit more churned up at the moment (calmest/clearest water after April). Jomtien will be calmer now as they're on the lee side this time of year. Around May wind switches to S/W so then Phuket side and beaches facing West on Gulf side get the wind/choppiness. Would deffo keep the plan to visit Chiang mai esp as you're on a scouting mission to potentially relocate. Best look as far and wide as possible as seems your (smart) plan. Sounds like you may prefer a Jomtien style more, look fwd to your updates. STL
@@SideTripLife thanks. Yes the beach is gone ATM. High waves and surf is moving NW. Visited a real estate agent today, a brit, says house with pool 26700 Bhat south of hua hin. Decided to skip Pattaya and go back to Bangkok. Met some ladies that I want to spend more time with. Miami hotel was what I picked. The place you showed was full. But first monkey mountain. 🙏
Went to Starbucks once, ordered coffee for my wife. It was at the VA hospital in Temple Texas. Will never use that place again. Would rather go to street/mom and pop place, even 7-11.
If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle for a bit, I highly recommended Kokotel Bangkok Sukhumvit 50. No pool, but it’s nice and clean and right beside the Lotus’s at On Nut station. $35-40 USD/night.
Have any idea when they last updated it? I stayed there many times years ago and I stopped. I have to leave it at that because you're not allowed to say to much negative things in Thailand.
Some rooms have been updated but it's still a very old hotel with many blemishes (as expected for around 1000 baht with pool 5 mins walk to BTS). Can opt for 1500-2000 Baht tier hotels and get much nicer/newer of course (but mostly without pool). Also have some favs in that tier, may do another vid on that.
I stayed there last November 👍 but I’d give breakfast a miss. You can walk to Sukhumvit and get morning office workers at next to nothing and tastes great!
@@SideTripLifethe Manhattan use to have a pretty good bfast, back in 17 , and was about same price in January. Definitely like the rooftop pool n sauna etc. breakfast sounds ok for me. Can you get the eggs how you want?
As stated above, some say breakfast at Best Comfort is best missed lol. But for under 1000 baht hotel with pool 5 mins to BTS, any brekky is a bonus (if only very basic eggs/sunny only plus a bit of rice/noodles toast & coffee). Manhattan nicer plus good breakfast but +800 Baht/$22 more so a toss up, depends what one desires.
Didn't stay there but loved the cafe which I was recommending, such a nice outlook too. Anyways, glad it worked out. Sam Roi Yot should be lovely. Enjoy!
Hi. Maybe try to book for a few days then when you're there, arrange for a longer stay (if you wish). They have weekly & monthly rates, I think. I've stayed there 2x, both few days stay only.
You were in Kanom almost 3 years ago. Tourist numbers are still WAY below pre-pandemic levels, so those who said it would take years were absolutely right.
Again, sans Chinese en masse Thailand's not going to reach 40 mil (thank goodness many would say). However, ex-Chinese Thailand has been rebounding quite well. In Hua Hin it's busiest I've seen in years. My normally 50%+ empty building is full and in Khao Takiab there's dinner time queues at most restaurants. Looked at going to Phangan, Samui or Phuket (Naiharn/Rawai) but it's almost impossible to find longer term accommodation (particularly at decent rates). I'm hearing Chiang Mai is also chokablok. So it appears there's certainly been a surge in long stayers and at projected 28-35 mil vs 40 mil, hardly the slow trickle back many predicted.
Your channel is so worth subscibing. Everytime you come up with useful tips and a fun to watch video. Hats off.

🙏
Arrived in Jomtien beach last night. Staying at U Jomtien Pattaya hotel. Very nice and on the beach road. Every where I go it's cool. Loving Thailand.
Go Rob!
Perfect hotel for that price
I will book next time
Micke 🇸🇪
It's older, has blemishes but good location and value.
@@SideTripLife Clen bed is most important
That's very good price hotel. I wouldn't mind staying there.
Was there last week. You got to prepay and get a card to use around the different shops.
Where?
nice find! thanks for sharing
I've got a good hotel on Sukhumvit and it's already hard to book as is so it'll be my little secret.
Great value hotel there, Best Comfort.
It's pretty old skool, lotsa blemishes but great value and great gym!
Works for me. I'm not spoiled.@@SideTripLife
What a guy. What a following! Well deserved.
I've stayed at Best Comfort a few times. Price, breakfast, pool, location and car park.
How was the breakfast? Anything good? I've stayed at the Manhattan, close by, in 17, which incl a great bfast.
In T21, I usually find someone sitting alone at a table for 2… “excuse me, may I sit here”.
STL in BKK means watch , learn & enjoy 😃 - The hotel is good - Thanks 🙏 👌✔️👍👋🙏
it warmed up 100 degrees f recently and was still chilly out that -50 stuff wasnt AS fun as a scooter ride at 80 +..lol
Excellent, Thank you sir.
Yep, as stated breakfast very minimal eggs, cereal, toast, coffee but incl at least. And as you say, lotsa inexpensive options around
Manhattan nicer plus good breakfast but +800 Baht/$22 more so a toss up, depends what one desires.
what stop is that on the bts. Can i take the bts from airport??>
7:22 khao kha moo! I have had this menu many times at Terminal 21!
Bahgain on the hotel. Not a fan of tub shower but for price I would deal with it
Love work!
Elephant pants give away a foreigner for sure...
Bangkok looks nicer than the American cities I’ve been in my whole life
Warm greetings from your recommend Khao Tao Beach Lodge! Rooms a bit basic but still a great find, thank you.
Next stop, Sam Roi Yot!
Didn't stay there but loved the cafe which I was recommending, such a nice outlook too. Anyways, glad it worked out. Sam Roi Yot should be lovely. Enjoy!
Cheers for that video.🍻🍻🍻🍻👍
I have checked room availability as far as June 2027 and there are no rooms available. Really?!
Hi. Maybe try to book for a few days then when you're there, arrange for a longer stay (if you wish). They have weekly & monthly rates, I think. I've stayed there 2x, both few days stay only.
Heading to Bangkok soon. Does it have a proper balcony ?
I have stayed at the Best Comfort a few times great hotel for the money
