  • Using the process as explained on the Tally Ho project, I transfer the lines from the lofting floor to the templates. Then, using the template, cut out the station and shape them to final dimension.

I'm glad you're doing this. I have always been curious of the process but never had time to try it.

It's definitely time consuming and tedious to try and replicate a historical car like this, a one off would be far easier I think!

I watched this video again. I noticed that the edges of your stations are perpendicular to the other surface. Something that I read on metal shaping forums is that you should angle the edge. Either make the front or rear edge the desired profile and sand it back (or use a router) to the other edge. This makes the point of contact with your metal or profile gauge one small point and not the whole edge of the plywood thus throwing off the contour of the body. I hope I explained myself well enough.

That would be true(especially as some of the stations are 3/4" thick and some are 1/2") but this is not the finished buck, I'll keep explaining my process and the final buck will address this issue to be sure.

Excellent once again. love the nail trick! Are you keeping track of the working hours you're putting into this project?

I'm not really, it would probably be depressing! It does take a huge amount of time to be sure though.

If I had your kind of money I could buy plywood too. Sorry, I couldn't resist it :)
