Although I grew up german, I lived my entire life in the US. I was visiting my aunt in Germany and she had the radio on, and one of the tracks from this record came on. It stopped me right then and there and I had to wait for the DJ to back-announce the song (and hopefully the band). They did, and within 24 hours I had managed to find the record in a local record store. What a find!
the trouble is , most people are stupid and just follow the BS they are fed. The average IQ is 100 , thats not very clever , then realise 50% of the population are lower than that
Misplaced childhood was the album that made me a prog rock fan and fish had that amazing talent of bringing his characters to life through his wonderful storytelling and amazing vocal performances
My favourite on the album too. And it actually feels exactly as though he were summoning up the spirit of his childhood. Magical and chilling genius from one of the finest lyricists to have graced the Earth I think :)
The minimalistic starting melody of blind curve, along with the lyrics and the lyrical performance by fish, to me is such a piece of art. I can sink into it.
I had the privilege of meeting Robert Plant when he visited a friend of mines father's house unannounced. We played in a band together and just so happened were playing a cover of rock and roll when he popped his head through the door and waited for the band to come to a stop before he walked in to our practice room. He introduced himself as Robert and shook hands with us all. It was a couple of minutes before the penny dropped who it was I'd just shook hands with. We all dropped what we were doing and went into the kitchen for a brew and bit of banter with him. He's such a modest and genuine man to talk to he didn't talk about how great he is and how famous he is because he was more interested in talking to us about our lives our work and musical aspirations we might have. I can tell you this right now he's one of the most delightful and grounded people who you are likely to meet and that hour and a half chatting, swearing and joking with him is something that I will never forget. A rock legend and true gentleman
Am just grateful that am not the only one who feels this music in my soul /heart ..others in my life just dont seem to feel the raw , beautiful music of marillion the way i do ..❤❤
Superlative in every single way. 1985 when Brothers In Arms came out. F me we were spoiled in those days! However saying this there was no internet, video games (like the ones now anyway), plus pubs weren’t open during the afternoon...
People rave about guitarists, these shredders or these people like Hendrix...... People that had obvious talent, but they just either made noise or shredded, so many of the top 100 or 50 i just find baffling in their ratings. But for me, pure guitarists are those that make their guitar sing, weep, cry..... they almost seem alive and make you feel emotions so strong, it's quite mad. For me, at the age of now 44 Gilmour, Rothery, Clapton, Doyle Bramhall II, Gary Clarke..... And though iv'e only ever seen Snowy White on The Wall Live Berlin 90, and on most of Gilmour's live shows and Waters live work, White is also up there. But Rothery's work on all albums is sublime, but the early material HITS HARD..... Amazing.
this masterpiece triggers a flood of the 90% of me I consciously block, as it is too painful to walk the earth with this load every day... silent treasures we are
Ils venaient de lancer l'album Script for a Jester's Tear... Une câlisse de bonne affaire que ma mère m'ait fait découvrir cette musique
I can associate with the lyrics and expression of the loneliness of being separated from family because of duty and a set of circumstances and actions of others outside of your control. I often question myself if it was worth it? No is the answer.
I’ve allways loved this track but never really listened to the lyrics and yes whilst disturbed I can relate to this , maybe fish was on to something . And his band got rid off him. Ive seen fish and other Steve Hogarth and both great but in different ways. Either way love both great artists 👍
Mylo was John Mylett, the drummer with Liverpool band Rage, managed by then Marillion manager, John Arnison. Mylo died in a car crash in Greece in 1984. Fish heard about it whilst in Canada on the Fugazi tour. 7:17 is about news on tv and what the world is/has become
'I see convoys curbcrawling West German autobahns..' to me sounded like 'I see convoys curbcrawling West German armament's...'. The former sounding about right but the latter sounding more prominent. My thoughts.
It's 2024 and still a masterpiece ! One sure collectible album for the ages ! Hey, don't forget ' clutching at straws ' too
This whole album is a masterpiece, lyrically and musically.
I wouldnt argue with that
Still makes me cry! Not many songs do.
i would argue with that....Supper's ready - Genesis
@@michielvdvlies3315 another masterpiece .. we didnt write "it was the best" ... Lamb is one of my favourite albums 😃
Totally agree🤞
I feel sorry for people who have never heard this.
agreed
me too !!
i feel sorry for people who have heard of marillion and ignored them.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Es una genialidad

I dont think I'd have made the end of my teens without this album, in my 50s now, blind curve is always a go to when in need of hope x
This album should be listened by every child and adult in the land. It’s impact is huge.
It is not child appropriate.
I play Marillion and Magnum a lot for my 6 months old daughter :)

I'm 24. I really think I won't never listen to anything else sound like this in my life. Unique
Absolutely hauntingly beautiful, when I was very young this album saved me, all my pain was in this album,
Absolutely always J'adore 💙🔥🥁🎸🔥🎹🎸⚡️🔥
I discovered this song a few weeks ago and I'm loving it so much, so that I can't stop listening it❤
1:48 like a blast of air in your face, the solo weeps

one of the finest albums ever
Very good song! A true masterpiece of ingenuity. Definitely the best song of this album that already in itself is amazing.
I have met many rock stars. To meet Fish in Columbus Ohio in 97 was the greatest thrill of all.

Am just grateful that am not the only one who feels this music in my soul /heart ..others in my life just dont seem to feel the raw , beautiful music of marillion the way i do ..❤❤
Is this fucking microphone on ?
Not a huge amount of people who experience music the way you described. What a shame!
😢😢❤❤

2:28. The entire solo is amazing (as is the song and album), but this part just speaks to me
My mood is just turning into some unknown misterious level when i hear that part

This track is the absolute bollox... 😁
True...no doubts.Top album to boot.👌
the best
Worst thing that happend to Marillion is when they didnt get along with each others and Fish left because they became too big.
2:44 what happened there?
7:17 and there?
