  • Leading up to 3-18-17 A series of heavy rainstorms blew through and temperatures soared after very unusual amounts of snowfall leading to flood stage water levels. This made for some incredible drone footage of the rapids at RIver Front Park in Spokane WA.

We love how the intensity of the music goes so well with the "Raging Spokane River"! We also film up the river in Coeurd'Alene and Post Falls.

Beautiful! It makes me miss Spokane even more. I grew up there and Riverfront was always one of my favorite places to go walk around. I know Spokane has changed a lot though. The last time I was able visit was 1990. 😔

Honestly the best footage of the Spokane river I've ever seen! Excellent job! That royalty-free music was pretty cringey though.

Crack footage! A couple questions. Are you flying manually or running a waypoint mission? I imagine you must be using the screen more then LOS for this if manual? Thanks! Ive been in the rc hobby for 30 years, and been flying planes and helis for over 15. But im very new to the whole gps multi-rotor game and im having a difficult time wanting to fly by screen because flying none gps RC aircraft for many years has taught me to keep eyes on the aircraft 100% of the time. Any tips for overcoming that? And thanks!

Thanks! I have flown FPV many times in the past, but usually in more secluded areas. But for this video we have two operators. Jake was the pilot flying line of site and Andy was controlling the camera separately. Legally you are supposed to have line of sight at all times. I don't know what advice I could give you though. After flying with FPV capability for 4ish years now, I don't have any worries about the return to home function working as expected, and as long as you have scouted the area ahead of time to make sure there are no hidden obstacles, I believe FPV can be very safe. Of course I have to recommend extreme caution and tell you to follow all the FAA regulations. :)

Thanks! Im well aware of the regulations. I plan on always being LOS, just need to be able to use the screen as well in combination for shot and craft orientation at distances beyond 300 ft or so. Will just have to work up my confidence in the GPS and its ability to hold the craft! (Not something im used to). Ive been flying none gps quads for about 2 years now and other RC for many years, and well this Phantom Professional I recently acquired is a whole new ball game.

Checking the screen for orientation and specific location can be very useful indeed. I'm using the Inspire 1, and the GPS is rock solid along with the extra visual positioning cameras on the bottom. I've set the controller down and taken a call for a minute, then come back without any worry about the craft doing anything unexpected. (Within line of site and in an area where nobody was around) I flew one flight on my own after the two flights we did getting this footage, and it wasn't nearly as good. Having a second person for the camera makes a HUGE difference.
