Funniest part was Patrick trying to sweep the water outside, then gives up and cracks open a Tiger beer LOL. That's really the only thing you can do at this point if you didn't already have sandbags. Good luck man, hope there isn't too much damage.

I'm always worried when walking in the flood water in Phuket because sometimes a power line goes down and you can get electrocuted. A few years ago a beach massage lady unfortunately had her two dogs electrocuted this way. It broke my heart. I threw tennis balls to those two dogs every afternoon. I still miss them. Be careful!

People live in Phnom-Penh need to have the concrete wall around their property and have sandbags ready for driveway. When the flood comes, just place sandbag at the driveway. Plus, they need to have water pump to pump out water in case water coming. Most homes in US have sump pump in the basement. The home builder will dig out a big hole about 1 meter deep by 0.75 meter diameter in the basement. Then, they just place the pump in that hole. They install 4" corrugated hoses from outside the house into the sump pump and a 2" PVC pipe from sump pump to outside the home.

I'm in Phnom Penh. I didn't even notice that there was much more rainfall than usual. The house I'm in is only a few feet higher than some around the corners from here that suffer from heavy rains. Well worth remembering when looking at rentals (for example). I notice up one end of your street looked like it wasn't under water. I think you have a slight problem with the gradient of your street.
Cambodia isn't very good with drainage. Instead of getting depressed while trying to mop. I would have pulled apart a wire coat hanger and tried to clear the drains in the street from shopping bags. Phnom Penh drains are often small, silted up and very easy to block. It would be definitely worth a try anyway. Film where the drains are before your next storm so you know where the drains are, as all of that wooden furniture in your house will be destroyed if the water gets much higher.

Even back in the 1970 when I was about 10 years old and am still remembered flood in PP, but not this crazy. Only a low plan that got flood and now a day, it is almost everywhere in PP. the entire PP in needs the sewage system overhaul. You might need a flooding device to prevent the water coming into your house. They sell them in the US. A bit expensive though.

If you have a big bag of rice, you can portion it out into smaller plastic bags and use it as a temporary sand bag. But, you’ve got to put the bags outside of the door, not inside like you put the rags to stop the water.

This was the day the road started flooding, and me and my family got back from a giant mall which is probably known. It was July 3rd, and it had started raining. It got pretty worse and bad to the point where people were outside trying to cross roads and motorcycle through. We were driving and whilst trying to get back home, we unluckly found ourselves in a flooded road where we had to cautiously drive through. We looked out the window and were shocked. We were scared kind of, but it found it interesting since it doesnt flood much in Mesquite, Texas.

Sorry to see it Patrick. Every square foot of PP is pavement. Where can the water go? (Same problem as Houston when the hurricane hit in 2017. Uncontrolled urban sprawl.) It didn’t help that the government sells the lakes that the developers then fill in. Hope it ends quickly and you can get the sandbags.

There will be plenty of molds under the wooden floors. You will need to find away to clean them out completely after the rain stopped and the water receded. Mold are very hazardous and harmful to human and animal alike especially the baby, they can cause serious health problems if breath into the lung.

I'm not surprising this happens. it will continue to do so unless trashes are in the bins not on streets. most likely they all stuffed by plastic bags and such! Our people of Cambodia still have so much to learn and so much to love then take for granted. I'm wondering if flooded water soaking up sky rise building's foundation and can not bear the heavy weight. That would be terrifying!
