    Beautiful as always.
    Almost has a fluetish feel, you can almost hear the jouhikko breath.

      Thanks man!
      I have to ask about the word fluetish - what does that mean? :)

      @@lassilogren ah well I meant to say "fluteish" i.e sounding somewhat like a flute but misspelled it :)

    how much does a beginner jouhikko cost? and would it be cheaper to make one yourself?

    • @lassilogren
      @lassilogren  2 года назад

      Hello @puer!
      Your question is not very easy to answer.. There are some cheap instruments for sale, which are almost impossible to play, especially by a beginner. The question could rather be: What kind of jouhikko is good for a beginner? It’s useful to listen different players and if you like someone’s sound, ask who made the instrument.
      Best to buy it from someone who can
      - play it well
      - can advise the buyer how to play
      - tell how to tune it
      - tell how to change the strings
      - tell how to make the strings
      Then probably the instrument is also playable.
      The prices of jouhikkos (also second hand) might be something like 150-900€. There are few professional builders. If you can find second hand instrument made by for example Mr. Rauno Nieminen or Mr. Anders Norudde, you will get for sure the quality.
      You might find a decent second hand jouhikko for 200-300€, maybe. If you make it yourself, it will cost less. You can buy excellent jouhikko drawings from Rauno Nieminen: holvi.com/shop/Raunonieminen/product/e3af0158d809ed6769ced5c997dbe7c7/

      @@lassilogren, thank you. i've always been interested in bowed lyres of all sorts, from the shetland gue, to the crwth, to the jouhikko, and so on, so this is very much useful information.

    • @lassilogren
      @lassilogren  2 года назад

      Nice! Of course you can get that changing the strings etc. information also from somewhere else than from the seller. But would be good to really make sure the instrument is really playable before buying it. There are many instruments for sale which looks like jouhikko/talharpa, even beautiful ones, but are actually difficult to play and the sound is not good. On the other hand, it is great that jouhikko is more and more popular and people make these instruments themselves even though the quality is also variable.

      Hei!
      The strings are made by twisting horse hair. Here is one video: ruclips.net/video/ICLelbWyCVE/видео.html

      Hei, tämä on tavallisen kokoinen, ei altto. Mensuuri eli kielen soiva pituus tallasta viritystappiin on n. 30 cm. Hienoa jos alat soittamaan jouhikkoa!
