  • Transferring between trees using a grappling hook. Just a quick look at the set up as I use it. The trees were about 125 feet we were pruning, and as you can see the hook makes easy work of a transfer. Use HD setting.

    Nicely done Reg.
    I don't have the grapple hook, looks like it works well.
    I agree 100%, traversing tree to tree saves a lot of time and energy.
    Thanks for posting.

    Nicely done. I have a clunky custom steel one that I made years ago for this. It works. Yours looks way better. Looks like it came out of Batman's duffel bag.

    Very cool. Inspired me to build my own, J hook style. Aluminum 1" tubing, can't wait to use it more.

    I had a grappling hook when I was younger, we tried to use it a couple times, but if you threw it up in the air and it didn't catch, you had 5-pound sharp and pointed piece of metal falling down on you from a large height. Needless to say it spent the rest of its existence in the garage.

    • @EGarrett01
      @EGarrett01 9 лет назад

      You'd think that, but for some reason they are sharp. Google "ninja grappling hook" and you can see them.

    • @Recoates
      @Recoates  9 лет назад +5

      ***** theyre angled, rather than rounded. The thing is you never transfer directly to a branch youve hooked. Rather you throw over a limb and let the hook snag on one below. That way the hook doesnt change its orientatation when you transfer, because the line is redirected above. Also, this way you have to option to slacken the line and yank the hook back out and over should you change your mind. With a curved or rounded hook, going straight to the transfer point this might not be so easy. You might be commited, or just stuck.

      +EGarrett01 you generally don't throw the damn things straight above you. sharp or not.

    Do you find it hangs off your arse when using 395 choking down. Which is a constant problem with the tree motion. . Thanks william
