- Transferring between trees using a grappling hook. Just a quick look at the set up as I use it. The trees were about 125 feet we were pruning, and as you can see the hook makes easy work of a transfer. Use HD setting.
Nicely done Reg.
I don't have the grapple hook, looks like it works well.
I agree 100%, traversing tree to tree saves a lot of time and energy.
Thanks for posting.
I don't know how he went on, but I had my heart in my mouth watchin this
Batman's utility belt has finally come to the real world.
Nicely done. I have a clunky custom steel one that I made years ago for this. It works. Yours looks way better. Looks like it came out of Batman's duffel bag.
Very cool. Inspired me to build my own, J hook style. Aluminum 1" tubing, can't wait to use it more.
good on you lad
my god how daring, this peaceful jungle man swings from tree to tree to escape an angry chainsaw wielding woodsman
like that even in bigspreadin tree" simple an works" cheers regee"
I had a grappling hook when I was younger, we tried to use it a couple times, but if you threw it up in the air and it didn't catch, you had 5-pound sharp and pointed piece of metal falling down on you from a large height. Needless to say it spent the rest of its existence in the garage.
You'd think that, but for some reason they are sharp. Google "ninja grappling hook" and you can see them.
***** theyre angled, rather than rounded. The thing is you never transfer directly to a branch youve hooked. Rather you throw over a limb and let the hook snag on one below. That way the hook doesnt change its orientatation when you transfer, because the line is redirected above. Also, this way you have to option to slacken the line and yank the hook back out and over should you change your mind. With a curved or rounded hook, going straight to the transfer point this might not be so easy. You might be commited, or just stuck.
+EGarrett01 you generally don't throw the damn things straight above you. sharp or not.
Were can I get the one you used in this video
That's very cool Reg thank you for sharing your time
Now that's how it's done !! Another great video .
looks like ur actually having fun at wrk for a change ;)
I thought, is he going to do what I think he is going to do? And then u did it. Worst case scenario, u fall back to the tree u started from. Could u c where the hook landed? Amazing Reg!! U r my hero. U get to soar with the eagles!
Kinda makes you feel like spiderman but treeman
I love how you limit yourself only to doing things exactly how you feel it should be done and not because some other bugger told you to... I love climbing and often wonder if my kids will follow me (3 & 6) ... will yours I wonder?
Nonchalantly puts the adjustable claw away
Man is someone cutting that tree down?
Sam Keller One behind was being removed by another climber. I was just windfirming a row of them.
Reg Coates have you ever had fear of heights? or did you overcome that?
@@TheZabbiemaster I'm pretty sure everyone is afraid of heights, even if they say they don't. You just get find a way to deal with it.

Do you find it hangs off your arse when using 395 choking down. Which is a constant problem with the tree motion. . Thanks william

i thought somebody you cutting the the tree you were standing on for a moment
Climbing is fun and all but it seems you were up there for work. What exactly were you doing?
I was hoping you could share your thoughts about what makes a good saddle and maybe recommending a few brands and models

I'll be 42 in August. No problems with the skylotec. But its one of them, some love it - others hate it.
