While watching It's A Wonderful Life this last Christmas season I was stuck by how great her performance was. She didn't even need lines, just one 10 second shot of her face told you everything you needed to know.
Yes, but I guess the actors had also enjowyed to play the Twisted Charackters in that looking glas world. - I wished someone had done a TV-series with a similar concept, I had liked to watch it. Especailly if Donna Read had played in it. :)
Donna Reed was one of my favorites. Class act. Never a bad word about her. So glad you appreciate your mom! A lot of children don't from Hollywood. God bless 😊
Beautiful tribute! It's so great to hear from classic movie star's children who have nice things to say about their parents. Of course, to us, they were stars, but to their children, they were Mom and Dad.
Me born in 1961 I have seen a lot of movies with her on German TV. Think she was a very fine actress who had not only in front of the camera that good heart and good charackter..
I remember visiting Dennison Iowa and seeing a big mural of her at, I think the local McDonalds, and being very impressed- at the power of the movies for one, to give a small Iowa town a real sense of identity because one of their own, from the same humble means, was up there in the lights for the whole world to see. A legacy that still informs the town nearly eight years later.
What a beautiful tribute to my favorite actress. Donna Reed inspired me at a young age to be a loving mother & wife. Happy 100th heavenly birthday to the most beautiful angel in heaven. You will always be in our hearts. Thank you for sharing this video. :)
@Chris Johnson Omg, you are SO right! I see now that it was a very tactless situation, as Bel Geddes feigned illness to garner a larger salary, which worked. And yes, Ms Reed successfully sued Dallas' production co...Good for her! Thanx!
Beauty comes from within your soul. Donna Reed was the most beautiful woman to ever appear on screen. If there was one past Hollywood Star I could meet, get to know and Act with, it would be her.
that was a terrific tribute. I loved hearing your perspective on your mom! I watched it's a wonderful life last night, as I always do on christmas eve and that made me think of googling other movies and lead me to this tribute. love it. so happy I found it. Merry Christmas !
That is intetesting. Since Ingrid Bergman also played different roles and pulled more the tragic aspects I think But of course both had been top. Here in Germany you rather get confused because of the often changed dubbing voices.

Donna Reed was I think, underrated as an actress, and as a beauty. All American gal. She would be 100 today.

One of the greatest. Happy 100th.
I love Donna Reed. I've always felt honored that I share a birthday with her.
That was so sweet! A great actress and Mom. Thank you TCM for posting this!
Just watched They Were Expendable last night. She gave a beautiful performance. A Fine film and a great Actress.
After Barbara Bel Geddes passed away, Donna Reed replaced her as Miss Ellie Ewing on the TV show "Dallas".
Oh yeah, I forgot that.
@Chris Johnson

Oh she was a beauty. And her acting was the best.

Your mother was awesome

Donna Reed - BEAUTIFUL - on the outside and the inside.

Very well done. Loved donna Reed!
Loved This!!! Thankyou Mary for a beautiful tribute❤
I would like to know if they know that the scene where she breaks the vinyl record went viral as a meme in Brazil and is the biggest hit!
I loved Donna Reed, also me, Judy.
I always get her and Ingrid Bergman mixed up.

We are all fortunate to have known her
