No, she's not the greatest as some are alluding to but she unquestionably has had the greatest impact in raising the sport of women's basketball. TV ratings, attendance records, record ticket prices, record jersey sales for a draft pick, unprecedented lucrative shoe deal, and being the driving influence into the league instituting charter flights, etc., are all testaments to this.
Iowa didn't win a natty but Clark won several awards and countless records during her tenure in the NCAA. You don't get to be the all time leading scorer and 3rd all time in assists if you're not a generational player. She deserves all the praise she gets and her career is just getting started. You'll be hating for at least another decade.
And you just discount all the records she broke. That is why we pay no attention to people like you.

I seem to remember the Fever having the no. 1 overall pick. It seems more like bad coaching. They have a lot of good players, but coach doesn't seem like she knows how to use them. Nice comparison to a 4 time WNBA Championship winner though; I like it :)

Additionally, she incurred two early phantom fouls, resulting in reduced playtime. Fans who traveled from afar were deprived of watching her play extensively. Lastly, the referees' failure to protect her, culminating in a bloodied lip, was concerning. Caitlin ought to be cherished as the pivotal figure poised to elevate the WNBA from its current modest standing. The league must promptly address these blunders.
You have to PLAY ...what do you mean cherish?! This isn't a video game!! Real life...when MJ was getting bear up by the bad boys no one said CHANGE the game!! Guess what MJ self evaluated...got in the gym ..came back & dominated. CC needs to do the same. You can't change rules for a player.
Clearly you're new to the W. That's not how any of this works! The W is not about coddling any players. CC will succeed, but it will take time.
If the W does not rectify its mistakes in managing CC's games, it may be too late once CC's fame diminishes and fans' interest wanes, resulting in the loss of the multitude of new fans she attracted to the W.
The W is, after all, a business whose interests are better served by making CC look good.

Caitlin Clark has NOW committed the HIGHEST amount of TURNOVERS in a career debut in WNBA history. That’s why when some of you people were saying that Caitlin Clark had the “mentality of Jordan”, I said that you must have been talking about Marcus Jordan, Claudia Jordan, DeAndre Jordan, or likely Michael B. Jordan. Add Caitlin Clark’s embarrassing 20 & 10 statistical debut to Caitlin Clark NEVER winning the NCAA Championship in college, unlike Michael Jordan winning the 1982 NCAA Championship, and now Caitlin Clark looks like you all overrated her. 👀

When Michael Jordan won an NCAA championship with North Carolina, he did not win the Most Outstanding Player award. James Worthy did. Jordan hit the last shot with 18 seconds left. That’s great, but he had 16 points in that game. Worthy was the leader of that team. He had 28 points. Jordan could not win an NCAA championship without Worthy. Jordan didn’t even make it to the final four his sophomore or junior year.
Michael Jordan turned out to be the GOAT. That’s great. Caitlin Clark has a very long career ahead of her. To judge her after her very first game is just silly. She is undoubtedly the most exciting college women’s basketball player in many decades. She needs more than one game to prove herself in the pros. I’m not saying she will be the GOAT, but to say that one game proves she won’t be the GOAT is just silly.

WRONG...CC is the reason millions of new viewers are watching these games and selling out arenas. Those arrogant, weak-character women are "petty" just like the NBA stars have said. CC fans, little children, celebrities, and endorsement deals are the proof that it's MOSTLY CC. This league was not even economically viable till now.

Caitlin Clark's performance was truly outstanding, scoring 20 points in just three quarters. However, the officiating was notably poor, leading to her facing foul trouble unnecessarily. It’s rare to see such intense guarding in basketball, where a player is relentlessly defended to the point of having an opponent in her face constantly. If the WNBA wants to continue attracting fans and revenue, they need to allow players like Caitlin to showcase their skills freely. While strong defense is expected in playoff games, the excessive guarding she faced throughout the game was over the top and detracted from the experience.

The W is not college. Defense is played in the W. Expect CC to be guarded hard every game...that's just the way it will be. Nothing about the W game will be made easy for her just because she is who she is. This is what the vets meant...she's now playing against grown ssa women who have been playing at this level for years.

It was last night. She struggled the first half, but; pulled it together the 2nd half and performed great! Had 12 points and 8 assists maybe 2 rebounds if i remember correctly.

Just never listen to people who have to make headlines. I didn't overreact because she scored 20 points in her first game and I saw the rest of the team scored like 51. What I didn't know was that they played a top defensive team.
ESPN has 11.8 M subscribers. and in 10 hours they have a whopping 7200 views on this story this should tell them it’s not worth covering in the future the WNBA is not worth their time.
Basketball fans wanting instant gratification is the problem. The only player who was completely dominant in his rookie year was Wilt Chamberlain, leading the league in points, rebounds, and minutes (per game and total, despite playing only 72 of 80 games). Caitlin Clark's comp is not Wilt, it's more like Larry Bird and Steph Curry.

@@ALLCITY73 for me, two things can be true. Clark is struggling so far, but if you know the Fever(or basketball) Sides is not a head coach.
I never said a word about Clark being almighty from day 1. In fact I think a lot of that is exaggerated by people who are just annoyed by Clark stans* who of course would feel that way. But there's plenty of room to think shes an immense talent that can play better AND that the Fever have a lot of issues at coaching and personnel. The Fever did pick #1 after all.

Everyone knew, including her that there would be a transition for her and all Rookies, but; I think people felt the condescending tone used when it was said is why people were not happy....
It’s not the best and the elite in the world because why then to they prefer players to go overseas and play in Europe and get training there before coming to play in the WNBA and which is why most rookies end up not starting right away but sitting on the bench for a couple years before even playing in a game. This year is a bit unprecedented with many rookies actually starting. This is why so many loose their fanbase from college because by the time they are playing in the WNBA they have left and no longer watching.
