[PAL] blank vhs covers were kinda beautiful but on a real VHS

- IvanDSM had requested me to upload the original video: • blank vhs covers were ... once actually passed onto a tape; but here's the big problem, I can't afford HMDI capture cards, the SCART cards seem to be non-existant so I bought a crappy 12€ capture card WHICH IS PICKING UP THAT HIGH PITCHED NOISE, and then I didn't have any HDMI (from my monitor) to SCART (to my VCR) adapters so I had to burn this onto a DVD (and that was also a nightmare because of compatible formats and audios etc.), then recorded to the tape via SCART (that was the only non-quality-loss arrangement but yet the DVD player froze for a sec whilst playing even on a second try, same place). Then to get it back onto the computer I used that composite capture card and used Bandicam 'cos I was just lazy to set any other software on my new Windows install (I had to do this because the old one got corrupted but my data was on a secondary HDD so all good, yet I didn't have any real programmes on this fresh install) and that's why there's the watermark.
Enjoy the video, it's a miracle I got all working.
Amen
P.S.: Thought the amen was necessary after that long desc
i normally dont click on peoples comments when they self plug, but this was so dope. love the aesthetic of vhs
when it's a great idea and 100% related to the video i think it's totally kosher to self-promote. i know what you mean though.
@@skoto8219 exactly! I feel like 63% of the time its trashy ass wanna be soundcloud rappers who are soooo bad. If you're a trashy soundcloud spam rapper and you're reading this, you need to stop! nobody fucking cares about your tarsh!

The Bandicam logo weirdly adds to it, makes it look like a early 2000's video so it now has 2 layers of nostalgia
True. It just messes everything up for me.
DOUBLE NOSTALGIA DOUBLE THE pain and sadness and existencial crisis your gonna have after this 😎
So glad I found your comment and ultimately this. So much nostalgia.
Yep. I'm here from that comment too. Legendary.
domtron88 same. This was meant to be recorded on VHS.
I just came from the original upload via your comment, well played you absolute madlad!
The sound is so different damn.
pass filter on the VCR
For some reason this just feels... right
Thank you so much for going through all that effort to make this. I read your description and that sounds like a nightmare, but honestly this is a masterpiece. The bandicam adds to it in a weird way that mixes early 2000’s internet nostalgia with 80’s VHS nostalgia and it’s quite an interesting blend. I love it.
although the audio isn't properly balanced, there's always something magical about hearing a Hi-Fi recorded VHS tape.
It’s is awesome! Even that little glitch pause made it all the more realistic.
Nice to see I was not the only one who thought it would be a good idea to actually record this on a real VHS tape and re-rip it from there.
I'm thinking of doing it again but with SCART as I got all the cables now, but my VCR is so cheap that the image is veey noisy even just the OSD so the tape looks worse than it should
Good execpt for the giant *B a n d i c a m* logo smeared across the top.
I usually hate comment plugs
But this was great
This man is a true legend, a miracle you got it to work. Great vibes.
Could you make a potential tutorial so we can do it on our devices?
XáquerGalego thanks for teaching me how to clean my vcr
*TO ANYONE WHO READS THIS COMMENT, DO NOT CLEAN YOUR VCR'S VIDEO HEADS USING COTTON SWABS. IT WILL DAMAGE THEM BEYOND REPAIR.*
You've been warned.
If we time travel and get people from the 80s we would show them this
yea
Some heroes don't wear capes, they capture blank vhs covers but on a real VHS
Wonderful video, the muffled-ish sound quality really gives a nostalgic feeling, It's really great!
Doing God's work man
Aesthetically pleasing, great work man!
They would think its an ad
I’m having memories I didn’t even live to experience
It's very good. Love the æsthetic of the video. Just two pieces I have of constructive criticism. One, I can only hear through my left ear. Two, use OBS studio next time to do screen recordings. It is completely free, and has no watermark. Other than that, great job! Kudos to you for capturing the real æsthetic of the video!
I actually wouldn't mind the bandicam watermark cause it fits well with this which added another layer.
heres how you know its real:
the audio and video freeze at some points
IK, I finally got a usb file player that has hdmi and scart out so I can feed HD video but I'm going to get a USB 3.0 hdmi capture device if I can find one thats not limited to 30 fps
Awesome! Hats off to your hard work.
perfection obtained
My left ear loved it
There is only one problem with this. The watermark.
Otherwise, you have done a STELLAR job.
I normally never click on comments that aren’t “Don’t Read My [insert thing here]”, but you earned my attention, and my subscription. I hope to see more content like this in the future.
I could do it again, but with propper software, I could once May ends
That would be sweet.
Holy shit dude real nice, the 1 time a self plug is really good lol
i wanna cry from the memories. i so need a VCR but every time i found one it's broken, last one ate my shrek tape :(
Oof :(
Buy an used one on eBay you always will found a working one
Hi. I was thinking about doing something similar. For me the furthest I’ve gotten was getting blank DVD’s, burning some stuff on it, and a working VCR. My plan was to use a secondary DVD player, hook it up to the line, and record it, then I would use a composite to USB adapter and some software bundled with it to record it. I was wondering if you had any recommendations. On gear, or tips. Note: I never heard of SCART before. And I live in the US so I’m on NTSC. Just curious. Thanks.
SCART was the pre-HDMI, it has various pins for controlling a same colour, my VCR only has SCART out, and nearly all TVs include SCART in Europe. I heard that US has S-Video, despite the quality not coming near close to it, you can find USB capture devices for about 10 $ that come with S-Video and Composite, but the fact is that VHS Tapes are recorded with a Composite signal, so I'm gussing you get to reduce some noise, but the quality overall will be the same. HDMI capture deviced are very expinse, almsot as if they were studio exclusive, it's not worth passing all to HDMI if you don't have existing equipment with it, but for old consoles it's worth gettin a cable let'ssay the DIN connector for the Sega Megadrive (Genesis) or PS1 AV multi to SCART and then for 10$ a SCART to HDMI, because on a white title screen with RF or Composite it was greyish, but with SCART it was as white as the wall behind the TV, hope that wasn't to much info.
@@MrFiver1111 Thanks for responding! We do have S-Video, but playback on VHS won't work, the only reason I know that is because on the back of my VCR it says that S-Video won't play with the VCR. My VCR is a VCR/DVD combo. But I don't use S-Video. My worry for me is if it will work, and I'm sure I'm fine, but that pretty much stems out of Macrovision, the copy protection/deterrent. Not sure if that is in Europe either but Macrovision was mainly used for VHS but can be put in DVD's. But I don't think I have a license for it, mostly used for big movie studios. And for any audio issues like in this video, I can probably isolate the sound in something like Audacity. Hope my message wasn't to long, and no it wasn't to much info. Thanks again for responding!
now re-record it many times so that it has Jeopardy! 1984-pilot aesthetic (low quality audio, crusty, bouncy picture, off-colors, you know the deal)
to be honest the bandicam makes it even better XD
I like the cover
this is screensaver worthy! (still wish bandicam wasnt used, could of used OBS)
No dislikes at all, this is just straight good tunes
Someone put a dislike on this video, probably reading your comment
Get a crack to bandicam my dude
nah, OBS screen recorder is good. it is free without expiring and video time limit.
superwoah guy Not with a crack, and he's already using Bandicam. Although I never tried OBS when ripping tapes before and it could work better, but I'd imagine the only issue would be changing the size of the recording y'know.
Nice dude. Didn't let us hang there. Sub
Tapes are coming back
I didn't hate tape, it was a great format, but VHS VCRs had an horrible mechanic, jams, prone to break or have that distorsion.
but we could record stuff
The stereo is a bit off, the right channel is really quiet
Muzikman127 that's VHS audio buddy
It would be more great if theres no bandicam watermark
Factual statement
guy should have used OBS
Should've used unregistered hypercam 2
should’ve played this straight from TV using a capture card
it would have looked way better if you deinterlaced the material and cropped to 4:3 instead of stretching. and its better to use a device that accepts usb sticks instead of innecesary burning DVD's
Wow you actualy did it thats so cool!
the mad man YOU DID IT!
My right ear is sad.
mine too :(
This.... was amazing! Thanks www.BANDICAM.com!
I had trouble with audio capture with *Unregistered HyperCam 2*
@@MrFiver1111 please look into OBS, it's the industry standard now, it's free and there's no watermarks.
@@KingBlonde Honestly the Bandicam watermark adds to the aesthetic
This gives me early 2000s McDonald's vibes
Also my left ear enjoyed this
I have arrived
Don't stop making videos
What software did you use to play the video, so it could record onto VHS to begin with?
I used a real DVD player
~actually better than the original~
Woah nice
Amazing
What app did you make this in? I wanna do the same
I didnt make it, the original is by 4096 (in description), I used an actual tape to record it
How did you get the video onto the VHS?
It's explained in the detailed description
Cool thing mister fiver1111
even better.
I would have cropped to 4:3 rather than squashed the picture.
I mean crop to 4:3 digitally after the analog dub.
This could actually pass as vaporwave
This is synthwave
@@ShowtimeAtWaco Thanks for the correction
@@alanbareiro6806 np 😄
what vhs was this made on?
I scanned the VHS cover and made it the video thumbnail. I did it on basic equipment from the mid 2000s.
