Thank you for this....my father and family lived in a home on Johnson Heights, my father attended Colby and I spent summers there. I will always have Waterville in my soul.......
Thank you for the drive. You went by the Old LEVINE APTS. where my Mother died and we got choked up. December 24, 2001. My God. So long ago. It is like yesterday though. My Home State of Maine I miss so much. Going in to MILITARY & serving my country I left Maine only to return Once to buy my dream home in Waterville 1995. 3 Central Ave. I should have never sold it. fuk. Low mortgage. Low cost. Happy. Back in MY MAINE.....Bless you all.
My mother was Born, Raised and Lived in Waterville, Maine all her life. She loved Maine. RIP Mom. Thanks for the Video so I can remember the times I spent in Waterville. I was BORN IN WATERVILLE at Waterville Osteopathic Hospital and at age 5 taken out to Malibu, California. SADLY. I look back now and see how Much I MISSED OF LIFE IN MAINE. Wonderful lifestyle, 4 seasons, Ice fishing, Hunting, Boating, and so much more....Sugarloaf for skiing. Cross Country skiing is my thing,. Great exercise and wonderful to see back woods of Maine. My favorite places, FOXY's Pool Hall off Maine street. He allowed us Teens to play pool and Pin Ball and just hang out. He was a great guy. As was ARTHUR GANYA (sp?) Ice skating rink. China lake. Moosehead Lake, Friends like Steve Hunter in Mercer Maine. His dad was former FBI. They had hundreds of chickens to sell eggs. Great property. Nice family. Steve came out to California in 1970's after I talked to him about Santa Monica and the Beach Lifestyle. Steve Morrisette joined him. I Pray they are both O.K. Mark Carter taught me 'Fiddle-Head Picking and where to sell what I picked'. Great money we made as kids. Mark was a very hard worker. At age 15 he actually taught me about 'Work Ethic' and as a Very Poor kid that was worth its weight in gold. Mark went on to Construction, Oil Industry. Was a very good Cook, Probably would have made Chef easily. In was in the Food Industry for Best Foods/Knorr Swiss/Thomas' Muffins, Skippy. Mayonnaise and 600 more line items. I rose from Sales, District, Regional, VP marketing/management of sales personnel in 4 years. My God, if I had lived in MAINE with that I'd have had hundreds of Acres, 20 room home. Snowmobile. Barn, Spring, and more....Lot cheaper in Maine than California. You get 100 times more for the money. My Mother Passed while living in LEVINE'S APTS. ON Main street. I met Mr. Levine in the early 70's. Nice man. He told me my parents lived in Apt. 19in 1954 and had a Baby. Then he looked at me and asked, 'Was that You Jimmy?' YES SIR. My grandmother was Marie Jeanne Lacombe (Veilleux) he family owned VEILEUX FUNERAL HOME. She married Pierre Lacombe of Canada and they raised 11 children in WATERVILLE. Uncle's Harold, Bob, Dick were known as the LACOMBE BOYS, 15 Kennebec Street. 1960's. For some odd reason (Maybe JOBS?) they ALL left Waterville, Maine in 1962 and headed for Santa Monica, Bell Gardens (east L.A.) and beyond. ANGELUS STEEL gave Uncle Bob a great oppty. and he rose to management and brought his brothers in. That situation was not perfect (jealousy) but, they all had good paying jobs. Visiting Pierre and Marie Jeanne their parents every year! MAINE WAS ALWAYS LOVED. THE PEOPLE RESPECTED. AND MISSED. I just wish there had been jobs for them in order to stay and I could have stayed too. RIP family. RIP
6 years ago this week. My old home town. I knew every turn. Spent half my life there. Now I'm stuck here in Hawaii. No cold days (although I awoke to 55 degrees today) no snow banks, slush, salt stained cars. No green leaves on the trees. WTVL has a sunset that lasts for hours. And real nice people. One day, when I grow up, I'll be back. I wish you spent part of the drive in the North end. And Thanks for the memories.
You and I think a lot alike / We both miss Maine. I had a friend of 41 years who left California for Hawaii, Hilo, Ron Corder, A CPA, Accountant, He met a girl from Thailand half his age 57 vs 25 and he asked me what I thought. I gave him an answer he did not like and he never spoke to me again. Sad. His two daughters didn't like that set up either as the girl was their age. Ron had lived in Waterville in the 70's. He was originally from Texas. Anyway, I was born in Waterville, Maine and all my life tried to return to Maine, It was impossible, I had an International Business degree and just couldn't find a job that FIT, I still dream of returning to Maine in my 60's. lol I don't think it'll happen but, I can dream, right? lol I love MAINE,
Are you still going to Maine? I just told my wife she can leave for Italy 🇮🇹 her home and I’ll return to my birthplace WATERVILLE, Maine I have no problem with it. She hates Maine. She doesn’t like much anyway. Lol I will find a way to get back to Maine. Yes, even if it means divorce. Happiness in life is primarily the key to survival. I’m running out of time. 1996 I owned home at 3 Central avenue Waterville. 2 years just me and a cat. Poochi . RIP. I loved every single day! Maine. My high school friend mark carter and his kids helped me rebuild my house.2 story. Garage. Basement. Wood stoves. 3 bedroom.nice patio. Enclosed. God I miss it. $39,000 cash. No mortgage. $400 year taxes. I was crazy for selling it. Same home here on my block Malibu beach, California $3 million. I’m serious. 1/2 acre land alone here is $1 million . Malibu SUCKS

Oddly enough Mom returned to the same apts, after my dad died in 1991 and she lived out her life here 'where it all began'. She'd walk up Main Street each morning for her daily walk. Her parents Marie Jeanne and Pierre Lacombe lived on Kennebec Street 15 down the hill across from Hathaway shirt co. I believe they sold the building in 1996 (?) and it was turned in to apartments. Everything changed in Waterville. I miss the old days. 1960's was nice. A Camp in the summers and fishing, hunting, ice fishing, cross country skiing and more,. We had some great times in Maine. I was taken out to Santa Monica and Malibu in 1962. Returned to Waterville in 1968. Attended WHS and met some wonderful friends like Mark Carter, Leonard Audet, Steve Hunter, Steve Morisette, Becky Velleux, Trudy Hawkes, Patricia LaChance, Paul Lachance (his dad sold me my first car: FORD RAMBLER 1959. I was 15 years old). and Paul Coates and Pat Coates both died too young. We had an experience at the Canadian Border in 1969 put in a Film in Hollywood, CA in 2012. Never released, as yet. An Amazing scene, indeed. Kennebec County Jail included. lol Tough time but, we got through it. Maine will always be within me. My home State. Thank you all. Bless you, Psalm 46"10
