Kinda sucks how a majority of these alternative sites focus on semi-realism Korean-style manhwa type of art. Cartoony styles like mine will probably never see the light of day 😭 oh well
Ya never know! Might aswell give it a shot cuz I tend to look for cartoony styles instead of manhwa styles anyway so there's always an audience for ya haha

I love cartoony styles so chances are that your comic would attract me if I see it
We need a new app/site that’s inclusive to all art styles and genres! Most of the comics that get featured on webtoon is romance. It sucks.
I highly recommend not touching Lezhin as it's not the greatest for creators as it's been quite abusive to some and usually just does as they please.
i have seen some controversies from the company, but i should def look into that more

Oooo thanks for the heads up. I'm currently working on several scripts for my own web comics after years of not doing anything comic related worrying to find a decent site where I hope someday I can make some money from my work possible. Sadly every place I look up sounds the same story over and over again. Ill still make my comics but finding the least abusive site seems to be a must before that
Yeah same I had an erotica I was going to post there since they have an age restriction section and I really don't trust other sites not to steal or claim ownership after a few chapters. I was hoping that getting a fair pay since they're a subscription service site but ill have to keep looking ugh
Thanks for making this video! As a comic creator myself, it's nice to see other places being discussed outside of Webtoon since they've really ramped up their exploitative nature in 2022 in particular(not that they were treating artists amazingly all the time before then). I think they need the competition because them and Tapas got so used to being at the top that they stopped caring about their communities and listening to feedback.
I for one, used to really root for Dillyhub(not so much now because they have a lot of issues they refuse to fix), but now a days, I'm really rooting for Globalcomix. They're small, sure, but I feel like they respect artists the most out of everyone and are trying to create a platform that is at least FAIR. They have a lot of potential and I'm hoping to see it take off once the app launches soon!
Can you tell me about Monetization? Especially direct debit is it just for north America because?
I am wondering if you had looked into Comics Fury? I've heard good things about that, and that it isn't as saturated with romance genres.

Yeah, it's basically Smackjeeves back when Smackjeeves was good. Really recommend it, I host my webcomic The Secret Report over there and never had any technical issues with the site. Not only that, it's been around for at least decade (first time learned about it in ~2010 when I was first looking into a webcomic hosting platforms) and has a very dedicated and kind admin, with no sign of site going anywhere.
//edit: You can even use your custom domain for free (though obviously you first need to buy one with OVH or whatever), which isn't a given on other platforms. Not only that, but every CF feature is actually free. The site is basically living off donations of satisfied users.

Personally, I see WEBTOON is easy to post, also it can be easy to read on the app. However, I am just now starting to make web comics so Webtoons was my first go to. I already use it especially when I share it with family and friends whom don’t usually read comics. It is easy for them to read my comic. However, I like that you made this video because I want a audience not only my family and friends. I will love to be paid for my comic but I rather use it as a hobby. I don’t my love of art die because of money and competition fucking it up. I want my story to be seen and my art. So these recommendations really help. Thanks for this video 😊🎉

In regards to Tumblr, do you have any tips for formatting the page specifically for comics? I haven't used it in years and always found the interface a bit confusing.
you can post multiple photos, although there is a limit. Not sure how it will look in webtoon format though
My Tumblr is my webcomic's official page though it's on other paltforms. You can do a 'Webtoon' type format of stacking each page/panel vertically within the same post. And yes, I had walked away from Tumblr years ago and just got back in, and its interface IS confusing.
I wanted to try webcomics to support a Manhua I love by purchasing it through their system, As you are a creator there did you receive some notification if someone purchases it and do they send you those funds? Thank you for the reply.
Lezlin Comics, seriously? I remember getting ads from it hard in the beginning. It all seemed fake to me but after some time it does feel official now.

lezlin is definitely made for 18+ audiences and it is more popular in Korea, so compared to Webtoon/Tapas, its not for the norm
In my case, I don't like Webtoons because of how hard it is to navigate as somebody who tried to post comics there: no notifications, lots of technical issues whenever I tried submitting my work, I even got logged out of my own account 6 times, not to mention that as a bilingual individual, it became annoying that I had to go to settings all the time to switch the language whenever I wanted to browse a comic that was either on my mother tongue or English. Also, no matter how much I looked into the settings, my page appeared blocked when I tried to share the link to my webcomic to other people. And after all the trouble, I almost had no feedback, so my comic wasn't suitable for the site either way.
And tapas had almost no activity. Not only myself, all the comics I followed had little feedback as well, so they ended leaving.
Yeah, Tapas is beginning to give trouble to its creators too. A number of my faves are leaving the platform. And when I tried to publish on Tapas, it kept giving me technical issues.

But really, the problem is that the pace of my life has changed and I can't make time to just grind away across Victoria island. There would also not be much new to explore for me anyway, and exploration was my favorite part ^_^

Well there is a different app but in same time all more like manga style anime cause there simulator to manhua and Manhwa but is depends the comics, have to focus one how to bring to life and story as well the character this why there put alot effort on those work so can see why there made alot show of anime because those Manhwa and manhua there manga to say not comic.

Yes, it's popular. But the work ethics in that app is quite toxic and abusive aside from the lurking toxic fandoms.

Hive works has a rating system that allows child friendly comics to be searched easily. If you're looking for individual comics that are child friendly, they're tons: Cat's Cafe, The Little Trashmaid, you just have to look for them.
