It is beautiful, Mark. When you said you were going to make this quilt I thought it would be too hard, but you have created a true New York Beauty! Thank you for taking us along on the ride.
What an exciting quilt. Not just for the colors but to watch you conquer this technique like a boss! You’re killing it my friend! The quilt looks devine.
You seem tired, but still have that great attitude. I keep reminding myself to enjoy it, like you say there are no quilt police and it's only fabric, it's only thread!! I really love that NY Beauty!! ❤
"My quilts aren't perfect, nor do I ever want them to be. I want my quilts to represent me." This is why I watch and choose to learn from this channel.
You made my Thursday. In my therapy room and working on a quilt. Smoke is clearing out of Paradise. Sky is blue and it is not hot. Sending you something in the mail later today. Hope you enjoy it.
I still say your choice of colors makes the nice pattern just plain beautiful! Whenever I feel myself feeling anxious over a craft project, I say to myself, " It's only fabric and thread" or "It's only yarn" or "It's only paper". Thanks for encouraging and sharing 💕🌱
Beautiful quilt!! I recently completed my first quilt. It was more like a baby-sized quilt, and I learned a LOT! (Read that as made a lot of mistakes, lol!). You’re right, Quilting Marine. It’s about enjoying the process. Perfection can definitely dampen a lot of the joy in quilting. It’s true in life, too. I know I’ll get better with more practice. That’s true for both quilting and life, too! 💕💜
It is beautiful. I was worried about being a perfectionist when making quilts until I started watching your channel. No more stressing over little stuff and I find myself enjoying the process more. Thank you, Quilting Marine
OMG WOW How Awesome is your share....I admire you for sew many reasons and if you had forever I'd list them all but realize you have a life and it necessarily doesn't include a book for a comment to sit and read!! SEEEEEEEEEEEEW I love your tude about NOT perfection but do your best and be proud...because it's true if one becomes to gosh darn picky you don't enjoy what you are doing and dread the finishing of it!!! I love how you have a read half square and match them up...that's a brilliant idea because someone along the way everyone will be matched. Gosh kiddo your Quilt is really a masterpiece!!! When you video first comes on and it show your quilt piece wall I always end up in Jaw Dropping awe !!!! It was so much fun watching you create more square and always enjoy your chit chat....you always have the greatest ideas and self esteem builders too...and Yvonne your videoing is Impeccable !!! Thanks for an Outstanding Tutorial and Sharing your Tremendously Terrific Tips, Tricks & Techniques!! YOU TWO SO ROCK!! Joan Smith
I'm a new quarantine quilter inspired by your work. "Nest like an eagle, not like a penguin" and "It's only fabric. It's only thread" are two favorite quotes I've shared with my beginning quilting class, giving the Quilting Marine full credit, of course. All your quilts are wonderful. Props to your wife for the color choices!
Preach it, Brother!! Thanks for busting through the quilt police line to help so many of us regular, flawed folks to enjoy quilting! We appreciate your encouragement!
I love your blocks. I had not heard of the NY beauty before. I am going to try it. When I complete the one I’m working in. Also I like your non stressing analogy. It is not war. So correct. And that may go for anything you may be stressing over. Thank you for your service!!! I am a 20 year Air Force veteran. Love your channel.
I really like it! Love vivid colors and a mixture of them. Great thinking and, also, great to see a man quilting! Why the heck not! It's an 8-billion dollar business. Why not share in it? Women love to see men involved in their hobbies/passion! :)
LOL..."Close enough for government work". I use to hear my dad say that often. Must be a Marine thing. He was a 20 yr retired veteran of the Marine Corps.
YOWW!!!! you are the man, your points all match up. I wish during this virus a quilted and got my skills up but I was so depressed. I am a corrections officer and all I did was sleep. I started back. this is beautiful. Ima do this. beautiful.
Oh my dog! Your use of color is fabulous! I know your goal is not to put it on display, but I hope you will reconsider with this one. You are inspiring me to conquer my perfectionist tendencies and fear of the NY Beauty, and to try and make something like this. It will have to have many different very bright colors. Thank you for sharing this process with us.
I would never have tried a pattern like NY Beauty but it is absolutely stunning! You took the scary part and made it do-able for me... for all of us! Thank you Sir!
I just found you - so forgive me while I catch up. But you made me laugh right off the bat and like everyone else right now - we all need something we can laugh with, at or about that does not include anything that is in the news. Anything. So your "that's when we get rid of the quilting police" got me laughing and I love it! You are making an awesome quilt there - you are a Marine (I happen to know that does not stop when you are discharged!) and those are two of my favorite things. So I will have to see some more of your work sir - hope you don't mind the sir - I am from the South and we sir or m'am everyone. Respect is always a requirement. Dang. I am 5 minutes in on my first viewing of one of your videos and I am wanting to subscribe. I have never been that impulsive. I'll finish the video first.
The New York Beauty is truly a beauty and love the beautiful batiks you used. Great choice!!! You have inspired me to me to make this. Its simply gorgeous. Love your instruction, the filming, you put me at ease. Wonderful!!!!!!
I'm new to quilting your videos are giving me some great ideas for my own quilting thank you you're a amazing person and always will be don't forget that
Hey Marine... you need a seam guide . You were actually sewing a 1/8" seam on that block. Blocks won't match if your seams are not equal but other then that .... great job !
i hope i don't sound like the quilting police...lol... but did you know if you have the seams going to the right on one block, and the seams going to the left on the other block, when you place them together they interlock and come out matched up :) ive been quilting for only 2 yrs and just learned this...ha!
Love your style, I also do not worry or strive for perfection with my projects as I want them to look handmade, not factory popped out....lol...it is the imperfections that make it perfect for me.
Have you tried small dotts of fabric glue? I have used it when I wanted to avoid pins and movement of the pieces being joined when sewing. The fabric glue washes out later; and, it does not stain. Using fabric glue takes a little longer; but, It can save your machine and your fabric.
I don't make my quilts or crafts perfect. It's to stressful and people end up asking me did I make this or did I buy it. I want people to know I made it, without them all having to ask. It sure is a lot more relaxing and enjoyable!

FanTAStic. Your fabrics really make this pattern effective. I am inspired by you! Thank you for all you do.

I've been watching your creativity and your glorious colorful fabric choices, perfection!! No quilt police allowed. Thank you for sharing.

This quilt is very intimidating. I have never done paper piecing and all those points! Yours is fantastic.
The paper piecing is what makes all those wonderful points possible! I am much more intimidated by the curves!
