26 Anderson Re-power : Stripping the Boat and Pulling the Engines

The second video of our project! We got the boat out to the Anderson yard in Goleta and kept stripping everything off of it. It was hard to really know how to document all of these tedious little chores, but I tried to capture some without it being totally boring... I wish I got a few more shots of cutting bolts etc, but didn't have the GoPro mounts I wanted yet, so this is mostly just updates as I went.
Everything was pretty basic. Unbolt it, and if I couldn't unbolt it, I would cut it off with a cut off disc on a grinder.
Tool wise my impact driver was crucial, a drill, a good knife, a grinder with the cut off wheel, a set of wrenches and a socket set. For the outdrives you need a few special deep sockets. Exhaust riser required a Deep all point 3/8 or 5/16....

It took about 4 full days to have the boat completely stripped with almost everything off of it. Luckily Eddie had the crane right there to pull the motors, and help lift the outdrives, compressor, and volume tank as those were all super heavy. You can pull a drive off by yourself, but they are heavy.

Was that an old urchin boat? Compressor, volume tank and davit?

yes! I talk about the history of the boat in the first video I made if ya want to listen... but yeah, was an abalone then urchin boat.
