Hey all! Director William Hellmuth here. I love reading all your comments and thoughts about the film! Feel free to respond to this comment with any questions you have for me. I'd love to talk shop!
Blake's Seven had a lot of sins: shoddy production values such as lame sets, costumes, props, cheesy effects, and so forth, but the reason I still like it is because the stories were good and the acting was spectacular. It goes all the way back to ancient Greece: a good story (with superb acting) is EVERYTHING.
Now unlike to many others on Dust this is a real story that doesnt leave you wondering "What the hell was that all about?" It was clever and interesting and well worthwhile..
I agree. Everything about this film is amazing! Easy to understand, point is easily understood, the acting is amazing and the storyline context is BRILLIANT!!
@charlietuna9427.......and the ending made me cry as I had connected viscerally with the characters' developing friendship and so was hoping their loneliness would somehow miraculosly end in a lovers' embrace (yeah, I'm a hopeless romantic, even when exploring sci-fi).

Very impressive. Well acted, visuals and sound fx were very believable. Thank you for a fantastic short film.
This is great! Thanks so much. Gotta agree that Stephanie Barkley is amazing. I found her on a commercial shoot and got the idea to cast her as Kaya then. She has a way of grounding every performance she does. So glad you enjoyed the film!
Watching this was incredible. It stayed punchy and engaging throughout, the acting was solid, the set design was subtle and effective, the music was perfect, and of course... the writing. The story. The "double plot twists" that others here in the comments have mentioned. This story somehow takes us on an entire emotional journey with just two characters (who aren't even in the same room) and two small locations. Powerful and surprising. Humans… Even my GPT-3 instance is less fake than you. It's sad that this pandemic isn't more lethal.
Wow! One of the best DUST films I've seen. Most of these films have a canned feeling but not this one. I love the simplicity of the story and how it's about very human fears and the two characters' relationship. The acting was beautifully done; it's always the little details in expressions or tone that I find touching. It was smart to put in the little differences in cultural details that lead into Kaya figuring out a potential solution.
One of the best on Dust in a very long time . We can all feel alone at times , even when surrounded by people . Reach out to each other folks because its the smallest of gestures that can have a big impact. Likes are not important . Better to make the day better for one person than to get a zillion likes.

You ran us through every emotion from despair to exuberance, hope and heartache, pain and pleasure and every other emotion I can think of. To pull from the film this was Fucking great. Well played. Was hoping for one more twist - that she would decide she'd rather have him at a distance than not at all, salvage enough from the two ships for transport, go back through the wormhole and time to her origin on the other side, and live her remaining days on comm with him. (I know that goes beyond time dilation, but a bittersweet emotional payoff). Excellent short!!

The SGI is great!!!! I hate most sci-fi now days it has great SGI but the movie's are made in an assembly line this was perfect all the satisfaction and internment of watching a 2 hour movie in a 18min thx
Beautifully done. Her passing through the wormhole made me think of various re-entry scenes. Having time dilation play a key role was both realistic and dramatic.
This Dust Short Stories are better than any hollywood 120min movie. Awesome, top, together with "Sand Castle" and any other Dust short Sci-Fi. "Dust" is worth every cent and second that would be wasted watching Hollywood blockbusters.

@@js1182 @J. Scott Worthington You should be proud and rightly so. My comment on the main thread said next to nothing. I _was_ speechless and that doesn't happen often! It is more than worthy of the five stars I gave!
It's films like this that give me hope for what the upcoming filmmakers can bring to the failed system that is standard Hollywood fare. Beautiful work.
I have watched quite a lot of these short, novel-in-a-bottle kind of videos. Some have been good and others not so much. This one, however, was not only a story that is deep and meaningful and very well-constructed, but extremely well-portrayed. The acting was excellent and believable, and the artistic concept, set design, and cinematography were superb. I have not seen better storytelling or a better presentation in many major, high-budget, feature-length, films. If this was not obvious enough, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Thank you!
I normally don't leave a comment. This movie was simply awesome. What a great story. I loved every second of it. Cudos! Keep on making such quality films.
Really enjoyed this one! A lot of these Dust shorts leave me wishing for more...a longer movie, or a tv series. On the one hand, that's a good thing. On the other hand, one could argue that it's a slight failure in the artform of the short film. THIS one, however, was a perfect short. It was utterly compelling from start to finish, and yet felt complete. Well done by cast and crew.
Oh My god. That is the best short film - of any genre- I have seen in a very long time. I was riveted. Well fucking done to the scriptwriter, director and the two actors. You knocked in out of the.. gravity well..
Hands-down, the best short space adventure I've seen for an indie-produced. This will be a very real scenario for our species in the future. Funny how nobody thought my loneliness and my illness were a problem before the pandemic. Now, that you suddenly feel vulnerable, you start preaching. Humans… Even my GPT-3 instance is less fake than you. It's sad that this pandemic isn't more lethal.
@@brexitgreens I wasn't preaching I was making a comment based on my own personal experience during this time
Amazing director amazing acting
Simply brilliant - the story, characters, actors and filming. A master piece of a short. Words fail.
Finally... something worth watching on Dust.
One of the best on Dust in a very long time . We can all feel alone at times , even when surrounded by people . Reach out to each other folks because its the smallest of gestures that can have a big impact.
Likes are not important . Better to make the day better for one person than to get a zillion likes.
What if all people in your social circle are soulless… or if nobody needs you and your benevolence (except your cash maybe)…
We can help others without handing out cash or being stupid . As for soulless people , like attracts like .
Bravo! That's how it's done, baby! Everything about this video is pure dopeness! Awesome acting, phenomenal writing & plot, romance, danger, loneliness, risk of death, engineering, lost love, worm holes & time travel. Wow! Gimme more!😁
Exactly ! ^v^
I feel like I watched a much larger film, and by that I mean a much larger production. This is why I love Sci-Fy movies
if only we could come to be this human on this planet towards each other.
In 18 minutes and change You guys introduced 2 characters and established a background in a couple minutes. You ran us through every emotion from despair to exuberance, hope and heartache, pain and pleasure and every other emotion I can think of. To pull from the film this was Fucking great. What an amazing job you all did. Thank you!
Thank YOU, Anthony! Means the world that you were willing to take a ride on this emotional roller-coaster-of-a-film with us (and Kaya, and Hammer).
I’m so glad to hear you say all this! Thank you for your kind words.
This is probably the best DUST short film that I've watched. The acting was superb and the story was captivating right until the last minute.
This short made me feel like the time I watched Interstellar for the first time. Well done!
Everywhere I go here I am . A beautiful philosophoccal story . I suggest to work on "Le petit Prince "
This is the best.. i say THE BEST short movie i have ever seen.. even better then many long high budget movies with just advance graphics n no story line.. look u people this is what a great movie is..
I gonna watch this several times again.. thanks for this master piece.. 😘😘
Outstanding, I felt her emotion when she realized he was dead. Very enjoyable!
Thank you creators
When in 18 minutes 49 seconds you can take the breadth of someone's emotions to another universe, you have succeeded. Thank you.
If there was a golden like button, I'd smash it for this short. Only 18 minutes, I thought 50 minutes had gone by! AMAZING in every aspect. NEED MORE NOW please and thank you.
This video was new to me.
The actress who played kaya Torres was an excellent actress and is an excellent actress.
She is very attractive and very intelligent.
The SGI is great!!!! I hate most sci-fi now days it has great SGI but the movie's are made in an assembly line this was perfect all the satisfaction and internment of watching a 2 hour movie in a 18min thx
Better than most Hollywood movies made in the last 20 years. Thank you.
😮🙏🙏😊
Hollywood is drowning since decades, amateur productions are way better now.
Beautifully done. Her passing through the wormhole made me think of various re-entry scenes. Having time dilation play a key role was both realistic and dramatic.
@@annalee7403 Sources for indicating that a traversible wormhole wouldn't subject any travelers to time dilation?
Brilliantly done, illustrates the heart it takes to continue after bitter disappointment and give back/keep on. And no ship designs to critique!
This Dust Short Stories are better than any hollywood 120min movie.
Awesome, top, together with "Sand Castle" and any other Dust short Sci-Fi.
"Dust" is worth every cent and second that would be wasted watching Hollywood blockbusters.
As a huge 'lost in space' & 'alien worlds' admirer I'd give it 10/10, Big Thanks for inspiration too...and a Big shout out to William Hellmuth!
I wish the movie would be much longer.......................
Thank you so much for the kind words!
William deserves all the kudos. He made this script sing!
@@js1182 spot on!
Absolutely!
That was amazing. Subscribed!
Very good acting and production quality. One of the better ones made. Well done.
The first Dust film i watched twice. Thanks for making this gem
Wow! Bravo to everyone who created this. Time was irrelevant to this complete story. I hope you appreciate why I said that. Thank you.
Wonderful Beautiful Emotional Superbly acted This is a glowing example of what it takes to make a great short sci-fi film. BRAVO!
This is a work of art. Very well made. This is why I only watch dust for sci fi short films now.
Thank you for your kind words. William Hellmuth and his team have done incredible work.
Hi, writer/EP on ALONE here... Thank you so, so much for the kind words! We're all incredibly proud of this short, and honored to be included on DUST's channel of incredible films!
I'm so happy that this resonated with you. We've been so happy to screen with DUST too! Dream come true!

@J. Scott Worthington
You should be proud and rightly so.
My comment on the main thread said next to nothing.
I _was_ speechless and that doesn't happen often!
It is more than worthy of the five stars I gave!
@@billyandrew Wow. Seriously, thank you, that means the world to us.
This is simply brilliant. It should be made into a full length film. The best I've seen in years.
It's films like this that give me hope for what the upcoming filmmakers can bring to the failed system that is standard Hollywood fare. Beautiful work.
I'M not crying... YOU are!!
Great all around ,unexpected and very intertaing, I just wish it could of been longer.
It had so much sensitivity and emotion. A brilliant story about hope and humanity. Congratulations.
Fabulous. Can't believe the set in this short. Actress is great. Which I could watch the movie.
Excellent movie. Incredible on every level, from the world-building, the technology and the amazing acting.
Wow! That almost brought me to tears! What a story! Amazing acting! Wow...I really wanted the fairy tale ending...but sadly, reality awaits...
Absolutely marvellous! Everything! Great plot, great direction, great acting.
Congratulations!
Edit, I'm crying
I have watched quite a lot of these short, novel-in-a-bottle kind of videos. Some have been good and others not so much. This one, however, was not only a story that is deep and meaningful and very well-constructed, but extremely well-portrayed. The acting was excellent and believable, and the artistic concept, set design, and cinematography were superb. I have not seen better storytelling or a better presentation in many major, high-budget, feature-length, films. If this was not obvious enough, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Thank you!
Thank you so much, Emile. Comments like this warm my heart!
I normally don't leave a comment. This movie was simply awesome. What a great story. I loved every second of it. Cudos! Keep on making such quality films.
We shall try. Really appreciate you dropping a line!
2023, and I just rewatched this. Thank you.
Excellent job by everyone involved on this film. Thoroughly entertaining!
😎👏🙏🙏
Oh My god. That is the best short film - of any genre- I have seen in a very long time. I was riveted. Well fucking done to the scriptwriter, director and the two actors. You knocked in out of the.. gravity well..
Hi there! I'm the writer/EP for ALONE... This comment made my heart soar, and your pun is a 10/10. Thank you, so much, for the kind words!
This comment means so much! THANK YOU.
@@TheTazzietiger so would we!
I agree with seeing it as a full length movie - I'd even drive into town (40 miles away) just to see it.
Hands-down, the best short space adventure I've seen for an indie-produced. This will be a very real scenario for our species in the future. What a super job conveying a very real human experience that hasn't happened yet but bound to someday. So well done with so little! Great ending!!! Loved it all!
Have u seen Robbie??
Awesome short!!
@@wilgrear8735 Not yet... I'll check it out!
