    Beautiful collection.you are inspiring . Every year I make my family a special ornament. My grandkids and kids 16 of us in total love the beach. So this year I am making shell ornaments. Very special idea to share with loved ones !. Once, I picked up a flier from Hobby Lobby that showed ideas such as a piece of furniture covered in shells, and a bust whose hair was covered in shells. I was speechless. I still have that flier !.

    I love them all! I do the same with my shells. I pretty much have them separated by where I have found them and in various glass jars and bowls. I have a huge bowl that was my Grandmothers favorite crystal serving dish, full of the shells and coral I found in the Dominican Republic. I can look back at each container and think about my many shelling adventures ❤️

    • @SWFBeachLife
      @SWFBeachLife  2 года назад +1

      Ironically I too have a big crystal bowl and it's filled with all my white shells. I totally forgot to show it in the video. I have shells all over the place! I'll show them in a future video. I personally think that any glass bowls should be filled with shells 😅 Your Dominican Republic collection sounds lovely!

    Lovely collection! Our first trip to Sanibel, my husband lost his wedding ring out on a sandbar. A couple trips later, I had found the most gorgeous caramel colored FFC (FFC’s are his favorite) replaced his band and put it on his pillow. I said “look what I found”! I love your shell collection. The lantern is a great idea! I also keep my shells in glassware. Hubs and I usually go thrifting and look for used glassware. Some I have mixed and some I separate by shell. I also have 3 large shadow boxes that I’ve put some of our favorites and miniatures in. We have shells in the living room, the guest bedroom and our bedroom. I believe it’s safe to say we’re shell addicts. 😂 But, hey! It could be worse right?

    • @SWFBeachLife
      @SWFBeachLife  2 года назад +2

      There are definitely worse addictions! I have seen people that have found printer’s letter drawers (like the letters for printing presses) and they put certain sized shells in each of the openings. I’m probably not describing it right but it’s another neat way to display shells. I’d love to find one of those printer drawers!

    I've just discovered your chanel and am obsessed! I grew up by the beach in Santa Monica, California. I was there 360 days a year! I'd run down after a storm and look for shells. When I moved away, I took my whole collection back to the beach and gave it all back. It was a joy to watch children discovering the shells all along the waters edge. I've been to Port Charlotte and lucked into a post storm time. I went crazy picking thru so many varieties of shells I'd never found before! I mailed 2 boxes home and have them in glass jars, like you do. They are my treasures! Looking forward to my next trip out, next year. I'm saving your posts with the maps. I really appreciate that touch! Thank you for the enjoyment I get from watching your posts! Susan from Susanville, Cy

      You reminded me of my girlfriend who came for a visit earlier this year and she couldn't fit all her shells in her suitcase so I had to mail some to her. I get it! The juveniles were also really neat and added to the ones I found on my visits to Boca Grande many, many years ago; love them. Mini's, fabulous. Crowned conch was very special bc I didn't have one. Sanddollars, calico scallops, olives, spiky jewelboxes, etc. All so wonderful. So, many thanks. Love seeing your collection. The fact that you found all of yours and didn't buy bunches...marvelous. I also have little containers and each one is labeled and so are my glass jars. If I have a bigger shell I label it inside. This way if someone sees my collection they know what it is. Wowie! those are gorgeous! had to watch this twice. I am jellous and have decided I am going to start collecting shells where ever I can find them. I used to have a very large jar of polished glass when I was younger, had a few nice large cobalt blue pieces but I was young and eventually lost interest. If you are in and out of college and you move alot the last thing you really want to do is haul around a large load of sea glass LOL so I will start again!. Thanks for the inspiration!

      It's occurred to me that if I move I'm going to have a mess on my hands! I'll just need lots and lots of bubble wrap. 😅 It sounds like it's time for you to start your collection again. I wish you luck and hope you find lots of goodies!

    Hi fellow shell lover! 💖 I love your collection. You are very choosy and take the bright colors....Im sort of the opposite. I scream when you pass over a large bank of white shells. I could sift through pristine white clam shells, sea scallops, angel wings, babys ears, etc. Something about the clean look I love. Not saying I dont have a very large conk shell in my display cabinet, white on the outside bright pink on the inside. Lets hit the beach. 😁🐚

      Did you see my White Sea shells picture frame video yet? I had been saving white shells, faded, chipped - anything white to add to the frame. And in this video I forgot to show my beautiful bowl of white shells! Angel wings, baby ears, super spiney jewel boxes. I'll share them next time! Oh, here's the link to the white picture frame if you haven't seen it yet: ruclips.net/video/h9UIvqlOzgM/видео.html

    I also keep my finds in glass containers, but all of them have lids, I used do keep them in open ones, but I felt that so much dust gets inside that cleaning dusty lid was better solution for me. I also mix different kind of shells together but try to separate by location where they were found, just like you have containers with east coast shells. Love your albino shells, I have not had much luck finding those

    • @SWFBeachLife
      @SWFBeachLife  2 года назад +1

      I tend to go through my shells from time to time to replace beat up ones with better condition ones I've found so I'm constantly in there jumbling them around. Keeping the dust off is a bit of a pain, but I can't resist the look of those shells in the glass containers!

    Your channel just kind of popped up a couple of weeks ago and and I am loving it! My husband and I are Mainers who have lived in NJ for 35 years and have been visiting the SW coast of Florida off and on for the past 10 years.
    The area we frequent in Maine has a gravelly coastline and I walk the beach gathering sea glass. Not clear glass, but opaque. Every time we go to the beaches in Florida, I’m so used to looking for sea glass that it’s my number one goal, but I don’t think I have ever found any. Do you ever find “true” sea glass?
    Love your channel and thank you for sharing. I’d love to see what projects you do. My sister-in-law and I decorated a large oval mirror with our seaside discoveries.

    • @SWFBeachLife
      @SWFBeachLife  2 года назад +1

      I have found a few pieces of sea glass! Normally I find pieces of glass that I recycle, but maybe 4-5 times I've found pieces of glass that I would characterize as sea glass. The calm gulf waters don't beat up the glass enough I guess 🤗
      And I have only gotten around to one of my shell projects and it was a mirror! ruclips.net/video/Mf5SVm8m5n8/видео.html

    Hi Sharmon. I know you posted this a year ago, but I just now stumbled onto it. Beautiful collection. I have 3 jars and a couple of baskets full of shells. Unfortunately, many are store bought because I don't live near beaches where I can find those gorgeous types you collect on the Florida beaches. That's what a trip to Florida is about, right? Of course I also have a large decorative box lined with tissue paper for the shell craft treasures I make. Thanks for sharing!

    Hello Again, I am watching video for second time. For the jars that have the same shells I would put a label with shell name such as scallops, olives, etc. For the bigger shells I put a label right on them. For shells in a slotted container I put name of shells with each shell slot.

    I really enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing. I wondered if you had any apple snails. They are easy to find and get big. I have a little box like that too. Mine's blue. Got it at hobby lobby and thought it was perfect for individual specimens.

      There is a preserve down here with an elevated boardwalk. It drives me bananas because I'll see the apple snail shells by the dozens laying all over the place, but they are a bit out of reach. I called to ask if I was allowed to take them if I could reach them. No dice. So when I do go I have to look at all the shells I can't take. It's kind of funny how much it drives me crazy 😅
