    Might be the worst ball knowledge I’ve ever seen tbh. Giving Southgate credit for scraping through against teams whose starting elevens are worse than an 11 made out of lads we left at home, is frankly embarrassing. You’ve all had a crusade against Southgate for years and now you’re switching up because you see the words semi final and can’t extrapolate cause and effect. Truth is we’ve had an incredibly lucky draw and the individual brilliance of a few players have carried us, it’s simple. We draw France in the quarters and we’re out just like Belgium. A point I'd like to make. Whenever people hear the term 'manager' these days, the only thing anyone ever really talks about is the tactical side of their management - Why? Yes, the tactics and strategy employed for the team is absolutely important for shaping up games and dictating the general play on the pitch, but realistically the tactics side of it is probably what, 20-30% of the job?
    No one ever talks about the off field stuff. The training, the mental coaching, the team building, the process of instilling a work ethic into a group of players, the camaraderie, how to temper ego's, making players believe that no matter what the score or how long is left we are still in the game etc etc. Southgate absolutely excels at all of these things, and it is blatantly obvious too whenever you see him with the players and how much they all, to a man, adore him as their manager. So much of modern football is mental, and despite his tactical flaws, Gareth has mastered the art of making sure his team do everything else to get them over the line, and we do it time and time again.
    Need i remind anyone that Sir Alex, the greatest manager of all time along side Pep, wasn't actually that good of a tactician. He wasn't formulating new formations and tactics to win matches or playing complex patterns of play, he was just an absolute master of man management, and was able to win titles with some absolute shite players time and time again, all because he had perfected the art of getting the best out of everyone and building a TEAM ethos. Southgate is of that same ilk (no i am not saying he is Alex Ferguson lmao), and the whole "getting lucky" thing is no accident. He gets lucky because he does a hell of a lot of things right that we dont see, and it ends up all coming together in the moments we need it to.
    He isn't the best manager in the world, and he certainly is no tactician - but he's bloody good at being Gareth Southgate, and we will miss him when he's gone.

    • @Juicecarton97
      @Juicecarton97 14 дней назад

      Tactics and game management are the most important factor and way more than 20-30% of the job. Gareth still doesn't know his best 11 or an effective playing style and if we hadn't scored an insane over head kick seconds from time he'd have been massively exposed. Again against Switzerland it takes us conceding to do something in response. That, in game management from him is so poor, you can see almost every game we play at 60 mins that it's not working, the opposition manager has changed something by then and we wait until we concede or about 75 mins into the game to change things. We're all watching the same thing but he somehow doesn't. It's definitely not in his master plan to scrape wins or draws in the dying moments. The other player management aspects of the job are important obviously but how do the players on the bench and in the squad that are underused feel, when other players performing poorly are left in, so there's not too much change from Mr cautious. Can you honestly say you're enjoying watching us play or does winning no matter the dross shown override the feeling of it all.

Only facing the weaker Germany in decades...You're not facing anyone difficult until the semis every time, i wish my nation had your luck every tournament and didn't have to face many giants until the semis, of course you've gone further than Germany, Portugal, Belgium... They have to fave each other sooner in the tournament and eliminate each other, having games that seem like a final while you avoid them all, and there's still Spain and france on that side of the bracket, but of course you don't talk about that so you can seem better than what you really are... It's not convenient to talk abou that...You did not face any giant... at this point it's more than luck, the people with power want england to win a trophy by force at this point

      I hate watching this team but they grind out results by playing bad...it is what it is...results are all that matters in the end...no one will remember how well you played if you don't win...Austria and Germany were the best teams I watched this tournament followed by Spain...2 of 3 are out and the third will probably fall to the defense first French...a very similar make up to England...great players put on a tight leash to limit the opposition scoring...defend first at all costs and if you can, score to win...if not beat them on PKs
      If either team wins it, no one will remember or care how they won it and how crap they truly were...

The only reason they are in the current position is luck: luck with your terrible pool, luck with your dogshit refs and VARS ruining every other game, luck with your side of the draw, luck with last minute goals.
    Get real and stop the nonsense about other teams. "We made it further than Portugal, Germany, Italy" - Wanna bet how you did against them if you were on their side? "The Dutch ended 3rd in their pool" - Oh, you mean the pool with France? Ending just 1 point below England, who had the easiest pool by a countrymile? "Kane is the best player in this tournament" - Mbappé wants a word.
    Boys, keep the same scapegoat dillusional energy when you lose. If it's no problem for you now, don't blame this terrible mess when you lose.

    Yes you’ve gone further than other teams. But the path to the semifinals has not been the same. You can’t compare Germany’s tournament with England’s. In the end this is why in Tournament football “The Best” team does not always win. Everybody seems to agree that Spain has been the best team in the entire tournament. Imagine they lose to France on pens, does that take away everything they did. Does that make them worse than either Holland or England who’ll reach the final? Very nuanced and easy arguments boys, but works to get the spirits up.

  • @davidham5230
    @davidham5230 14 дней назад

    Before the tournament started, no one predicted England to stink the whole thing out, with the quality in the squad, the level of opposition, the route to the final being on the easier side of draw,
    If England win the Euros questions should be asked about match fixing, and I'd say the same about France...the same way things looked suspicious when Greece won it years ago. As a football fan Spain deserve to win the tournament for playing wonderful attacking football, and the Dutch have been exciting too, that would be the final I'd like to see from a football perspective, they'd make a good spectacle of it, if England make the final basically puking over the finish line in each match, it's been painful and boring to watch. As much as I want England to win something, I would hate for us to do it like this, it's the one kid nobody likes but it's his ball, u either play to his nonsense rules or he storms off and takes the ball home.. It's desperately clinging on for your life when you're capable of coming out swinging, it doesn't make sense to win the tournament this way,nobody has enjoyed the football Southgate is the Rishi Sunak of football
