This, IMO, should’ve been the first reveal of August’s true identity to the audience. Instead of explicitly showing his hat and his limbs turning into wood first, we should’ve had this. August reacting this way to the sight of Geppetto, of all people, would've been enough ... if the show had actually respected the audience’s intelligence.
When I watched the series the 2nd time and the next time, especially this scene I forgot that August had a certain advantage over Gold. He knew where Neal/Bae was, as well as about his connecting relationship with Henry.
Did anyone notice when geppetto tilted his head and said have a good day. Only for Pinocchio to mutter to geppetto Hi how are you? Just as geppetto was leaving

It's a little ironic that Gold doesn't trust Pinocchio, given the fact that The Dark One is the one who shouldn't be trusted.
