    Great video. The Medusa was too soft for me for driving a Horizon Head or a Range Roller. I use it for Nemo, wacky, and DS. The Orochi XX Whipsnake or the P5 Addermine is the right spot for shaking a minner FOR ME. Just my experience. Love the vids.

      interesting! I can see Whipsnake being a good alternative for sure.

    I have the Medusa and the P5 Whippet. If you go to a smaller swimbait, the Whippet is where it's at. The sensitivity and the bite detection is outstanding but it can not handle a 5in or 4in Shakamata Shad as well as the Medusa. With that said, I had a chance to try the P5 Zangetsu. It's 7'7''. Nothing casts a small bait like it. It's just way different from anything out there. It's rare to find them, even in Japan but heard this is "The" next strolling rod for small baits.

      I have casted a tungsten teardrop weight ⅜ oz (10gr) a whopping 60 mtr with a Zangetsu. But i think i can get even further. A few cast with a JB looked promising 😅😅

    • @Johanooo
      @Johanooo Месяц назад

      Is'nt the Zangetsu more or less a JDM version of the Flyssa? It sure looks like it specs vise other then the 7'7 instead of 7'6''. I live in europe where we can't get the Flyssa and I'm really excited to get my hands on the Zangetsu for finnesse applications. Have you tried them both and can provide some insight?

      @@Johanooo Only the Zangestsu. Someone in our tournament group order one from Japan Lure Shop. I got to cast it off of our boat ramp and caught one small bass on it. It will cast a mile and loads well but like most long spinning rods, it takes some getting use to. It feels, at first, more like a hair jig rod. Also, I can't explain it but this rod feels slightly different than other P5 rods. Sort of stiffer. Like the difference between the old G Loomis NRX and the new NRX+.

    Deps Gain Element is a solid tip, but they go much further down than other solid tip rods to not have that extreme of an action.

      Thank you! I do recall seeing a video somewhere that said the shaking element has a solid tip now that you said that. Maybe a hookup tackle video?

    • @Shawn_Lai
      @Shawn_Lai Месяц назад

      @punchfishing yep THT talks about how the solid tip goes down to like the third guide instead of just a few inches like other rods to make it stronger and more durable. I'm tempted to buy one even though I have the medusa 😂 ugh the torture..

    Great video - I have been considering getting the Megabass Medusa versus the Shimano 6'10" spinning rod and this helps. I am also considering waiting for the new Poison Adrena stinger tip rods that should be coming out soon.

    6’10 solid tip expride and a vanford have done very well for me this year. Some more accessible bait options would be the crush city free loader and the zoom ffs minnow, both roll really easy on the gamakatsu horizon head.

  • @craigtaylorfishing

    Medusa is a good strolling rod for heavier applications. Where I am, we use a lot of 3'' baits and 1/16 to 3/32 oz jigheads, and the Medusa is a bit cumbersome feeling in hand, especially compared to the Expride B M solid tip model. Expride B can't be beat for those applictions. The Medusa has been great for 4" + baits and 3/16 to 1/4 oz jighead minnow applications. I'd like to see Megabass come out with a P5 solid tip rod for strolling lighter baits.

    You can do finger bumbs too. You crank your reel and stick out your finger thats holding the rod. The line hits your finger every rotation of the rotor of your spinning reel.

    Remember the expride A 6’10” that you really didn’t like and neither did I. Well it sat on a rack until this year and It dawned on me, ohh that might be a good strolling rod. So far it hasn’t been bad. I think I found a use for it.

    Be careful buying megabass rods from Japan tackle suppliers (esp backlash tackle) as megabass won't warranty them & neither will the dealer. I have a broken p5 destroyer that i can't get replaced without paying $200 shipping. Used it 2 times.
