I had such a crush on Burton Cummings. I even had a boyfriend who had the same moustache and hair, and played guitar, piano, and flute.
I'm still listening to these gentlemen in 2021. And I'm still friends with the college boyfriend.
Darn....we are getting 'old' ...
@@edmourgagnon1504"you're never too old to rock and roll
If you're too young to die." And I'm too young to die - still too much music on RUclips that I couldn't have been heard back in the day.
It took Chicago 50 years to get in ... I agree the Guess Who deserve to be in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame
definately
Rock and Roll hff all of fame is overrated..its more about politics and correctness.
Hell yes, they deserve to be in!!!
They absolutely belong in the HOF, but lately acts are getting in that deserve the Hall of Shame.
@@bikerhighmiler8998 100% true. Unfortunately, it’s kinda bs.
love this band in the 70's and still play their music today in 2024
i'm 67, from the us, after watching this concert, it struck me how important the quess who, and bachman turner were to me musically. love it
These songs mean more to me now in 2020 than they did in the early 70's, and they meant the world to me then.
Ever since I was a 15 year old kid in 69 I always noticed that the drummer seemed perfect on every song. I have played drums all my life and no matter what I have played I can still say he is the most consistent and professional drummer. He's right on every time. A tremendously underrated band.
Oh yes, one of my favorite pop drummers. Garry Peterson !!! On the level of someone like Hal Blaine. As you say, just consistent, no nonsense and rock solid but a nice swing in his groove. It's nice to see him live in this video.
I'm a guitarist first, drummer second but you're right.
@@blakegregory969 Every bit as good as Mick Avory or Charlie Watts - can handle jazz and rock. Beyond belief this band is not in the R&R Hall of Fame ~
Call me contrarian, but he's second in my book to Mick Avory from the Kinks. Mick was a jazz drummer who crossed over into rock, and did many things a straight rock drummer wouldn't do - dropped notes, mid-song tempo changes and more. Charlie Watts from the Stones was the same - and Avory played with the Stones in 1962, before Watts did.
No matter who Burton plays with, the songs always sound better when Gary Peterson is playing...Jim Kale for that matter too.....
Usually don't comment, hardly ever twice, but as musicians and composers, together... they're a perfect storm
I'm 68 and this concert definitely brings me back to those days.
There you have it.. No explanation needed! One of the best voices in rock n roll history!
So smooth with great range and inflection..
I have loved a Burton Cummings since I was 15 years old and I’m listening to it now in 2024. I guess I will till I die. The man is spectacular.
awesome, these guys it seemed were always on the radio back in the late 60s. like a soundtrack of my youth. great to see this!
I was blessed to be in the right place at the right time to see this tour. I saw them share the stage with Steppenwolf at the Mesa Amphitheatre in Mesa Arizona. One of the best concerts I've ever been to. At the end of the show both bands we're on stage singing No Time. When the dust settled and we had to exit I was pushed up against the front of the stage and we moved along towards the exit. When I got to the left hand side of the stage Burton Cummings was standing right on the other side of the moat watching us leave and nobody even noticed him. I reached out my hand and he graciously shook it as I thanked him for great show.
Good Times!
Always so blown away what a great singer Burton is I forget how good he is on the piano.
That's exactly what I said to my oldest friend as were walking out of Massey Hall last September. Burton Cummings at Massey Hall as a 60th birthday gift? He said he was feeling just as high as when we saw him way back, but this time without the drugs or sex. HaHa

Makes a person proud to be Canadian! Burt and Randy are the heart and soul of this group...
I am no Canadian and I REALLY agree with you!! Anybody should be proud of them!
One of the greats in the history of music!
Vocal harmonies get me good. I grew up with this band.
I love Burton's voice. Epic. So fluid. some of the best phrasing ever. Bar none. :)
Erin Taylor Saw him in Boston and he can still bring it - great vocals!
Yea!
Hay un concierto en solitario de Burton , solo con el piano, pero no lo encuentro...tu sabes donde puedo encontrarlo ? Ayudame por favor.
Babyandmewereripeforthepickin' !
Outside of the Beatles, my favorite all time band ever
can hardly wait to see them play together again .. after a pandemic and isolation we all need to break out and celebrate love and music !!! .. keep well and safe everyone 2020 right now is not easy !!!!
Burton is so Impressive with all the instruments he can play... I was born in 65 and they was and had already been popular...... They are Timeless ...
They made some of the most infectious and compelling Pop Rock music of the period!
Excellent! Guess Who the best band in the world. All the time. Ever.
I am amazed that the songs done 10 to 14 years after the studio recordings are SOOO great, 95 to 98% the vocal quality of the original recording, This is a truly great North American rock band. Thank you, Canada.
I love Ice Hockey, your National Anthem, and the best of all, Burton Cummings. Thanks, Canada!
@@lisacrosby9487 it helped that they were successful in the U.S., otherwise who knows how it would have worked out. So thank you!
Greatly improved technology of the 80s probably helped create such a good sound.
Burton Cummings voice is excellent and he has all these songs down pat!
I havent heard most of these songs in over 30 years and remember them like I just heard them yesterday! Now that's music that has staying power and is still awesome! Today's music for the most part is forgettable and not anywhere near what we got out of the 60s thru the 80s.
It was a great concert appearance
Top 5 singers of all time. What an excellent band and singer!
One of the best under rated bands ever! Outstanding.
WOW, the memories this band brings me! Great band. Love Burton. Totally killed the vocals!
These guys were always on the stereo at my parties since they were a band and still now.Great band .❤
One of the best vocalist out there. No fake ass auto tune, just pure talent.
+Luke Lemaster I have to agree bro. This mans voice is almost non human. Even Robert Plant said "Cuimmings Has The Best Voice In Rock n Roll"
Would have been great to be at that show
Absolutely the best ❤
How can I be 57 years old and just now discovering The Guess Who?? I remember all the songs just didn't know the band! AWESOME!
;)
My favorite group of all time: The Guess Who. From Canada. Not to be confused with The Who, a British band. The Guess Who are one of the most under-appreciated bands of all time. They had 14 Top 40 hits (on Billboard) from 1965 to 1974, beginning with "Shakin' All Over" (when the group was actually Chad Allan & The Expressions). After that song, Burton Cummings joined the band, replacing Chad Allan. In this video: Burton Cummings on lead vocals and keyboards; Randy Bachman on guitar, Garry Peterson on drums; Jim Kale on bass. This is their most famous lineup. Bachman left in 1970 to form BTO, but the Guess Who put out tons of fantastic music even after Bachman's departure. In fact, one of my favorite albums of theirs is "Road Food," from 1974, which includes their huge hit "Clap for the Wolfman." Cummings has one of the best voices ever in rock and roll...
+Michael Pocinki u r wright on
+Michael Pocinki my fav. life in the blood stream [not here]
I totally agree that they have been underrated for a long time, I would like to point out that it is well documented that they out sold the Rolling Stones and the Beatles combined globally in 1970.
+Anthony Cassar While I would like to agree with you I need to read your source if it is so well documented. Don't get me wrong bro, I'm most likely the biggest BC fan you will never meet but those numbers just don't sound right to me.
+Rick Shelton
The source of this statement includes a number of media outlets including the journalists behind none other than the legendary Q107. I feel compelled to illustrate that I am a hard noised skeptic myself, yet this statement appears to be well documented.
Great band, great songs, great performance, and Burton Cummings is as good a rock vocalist as there ever was.
great any kind of vocalist aside of maybe opera but I'm sure he can do it if he wanted to.
Rock and Roll Hall of SHAME... HAHAHHAHA! That is why Alex Liefson gave them the Blah blah blahs!!!! LOL!!!! The fans had to vote Rush IN!!!!!
...and the great Randy Bachman on guitar...
ericynot damn straight
BC is one of the best singers in rock!
Out of this world!! Underrated band. Burton Cummings is awesome!
Burton’s vocals soar. He’s a consummate musician. Randy’s catalog of songs is amazing. His guitar playing-vastly underrated. The rhythm section and their background vocals are top shelf.
Those Toronto girls look like they have terrific rhythm too!
This was a really good performance. I can't imagine how anyone would dislike it
Idiots exist bro!
People who are jealous and selfish act like that.
These guys had hit after hit .You could buy the album and get your moneys worth on every song.
Loved this band when I was in high school!
One of the best musical groups ever. An awsome performance.
Have not watched this one before. Absolutely excellent! Makes me proud to be a Canuck! Thanks
I've always loved the Guess Who's music, but never saw them in concert, until tonight. I know, this was recorded more than 37 years ago, but it's new for me! I also enjoyed the band member's comments. As I'm laying here, recovering from covid 19, this video was great medicine! Thank you to everyone who made it possible.
Wow. Burton's voice is still as amazing as it was almost 50 years ago,.
That cannot be Burton's real hair;
1983 concert
If it was 50 years ago he wouldn't exist... This is a early 80s concert
Why not?
@@bradpeterson4440 Indeed it is!
This was my FAVORITE 8 track listening in my sister's/brother-in-law's Gremlin. ROCK N!!!!
One of my favorite bands. They never had to reinvent themselves, just crazy good from the get-go. Thanks dudes.
The greatest musical put-down of 70's American society! God bless the Guess Who!
Now that is TALENT on display! If I could only see one more concert in this life it would be this lineup of The Guess Who!!!!!!
No love for Jim Kale in the comments?? Fabulous bass player!!! Just a groove machine. He and Peterson, both so TIGHT!!! And how would you like standing center stage between those other two guys!
This is Loni on my son's acct. Google the history of The Guess Who!
All members from 1965 - present. Exceptional storytelling & musicians!
I pray they are recognized in America's ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME. They have been nominated..but not enuf votes. Hopefully by 2025, as they are up for nomination again. Hope & pray they live to be honored. They deserve it!
Being 70, I grew up listening and enjoying immensely ALL of the many hit songs by this group and BTO. GW songs were being played 24/7 on AM and the new FM format spreading nationwide. What a great group..Burton has a very distinguished voice and is clearly multi-talented.This reunion Concert is a real treat. Thanks for posting. Dana WN6OHG FCC Am. Extra Class Radio Station
Love this ... dancing shoes on and rocking to your music !!!!!!!
Great band! Burton Cummings is fucking amazing!
...i read that he was part Native from Canadá? Not that Is important, just curiosity. He sings wonderful, great band.
Pretty nice start to a concert. Awesome song. then followed up by
Running Back to Saskatoon... sing another prairie tune!!!!!
Thanks for posting.
My god, the chills that went up & down my spine on "She's come undone"! Still one of my all-time favorite bands. And Burton was true to LP pitch , not like all these cats today who record and then tune down for performance. Even in their prime! Kicking it Old School at A Reunion Show? Fan-damn-tabulous!
you should hear the 1974 Midnight Special live Undun. Very rough, intense and one of my favorite live performances!
Saw Burton Cummings and his band perform on Friday night at the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, a far west suburb of Chicago. He was in a word, Sensational.
He's coming back there soon. Just got an email about it this morning.
Saw Burton up in Waukegan, IL last May. Incredible show. What a story teller, too. What a musician on the Keys.
Burton has found his own way to rock n roll and plays the piano like Jerry Lee Lewis.
What a great story about friends. These guys are very professional yet they love each other and have fun while being professional. Kudos to this band and their music. Long live The Guess Who!
don't forget BTO. A FOLLOW UP.
One of the best concerts on RUclips. What an outstanding band!
It is very very good I agree with you
U are dead balls on the money...Excellent concert!
Lots better then rap music of today... this is real music.
Absolutely

Phenomenal performance! I love The Guess Who!
SUCH GREAT MUSIC! ONE OF THE BEST BANDS OF OUR TIMES!
They have already broken up and their music is no longer important because their music and songs are too old and is not hip hop or Taylor Swift.
This concert is so awesome thanks to the music enhancement network for uploading this whole fantastic concert of the amazing Guess who I'm having so much fun listening and watching the music and videos thanks a million 😘❤💋👍👍👍👍🥳
I have had the great pleasure of working with mostly Burton and occasionally Randy through out my carrier With MCM Promotions out of Vancouver BC and have had nothing but great experiences with them after growing up hearing them on the radio and then working with and for them (and also a Winnipeg boy myself ) will be with me for the rest of our lives.
word. Peter!
My sister worked for CBS! Had David Bowie step on her foot getting off the plane back in the mid 70's.
this is Loni...Your so lucky!
this is Loni. Amazing Peter!
Wonderful! How amazing that must have been! Great memories for you!
Burton & Randy were geniuses, and still rocking! What an amazing band.🎹🎸🎼🎵🎶🎤
I saw Burton Cummings, after he went solo, at The Paramount Northwest in Seattle in 1977. He was great. About half the show was old Guess Who tunes.
Great upload, watched every minute. TY!
that's one of the best shows I've ever seen. I listened to all those songs in my car and at parties, but I'd forgotten most of them. Great Songs, Great Voice, Great Band.
The Guess Who was one of the very first Rock groups that I started to listen to many years ago.
As an Aussie kid l remember them as one of the first 'noisey bands' [heavy rock], along with Jimmy Hendrix, and then Black Sabbath.
I was 6 in 1969 and my sisters were all older than me but I grew up on this music. The first album I ever bought was BTOII.
Bachman is playing a Roland G-505 guitar/synth combo. The guitar is based on Leo Fender's Stratocaster design. Roland designed a special "mini" humbucking pickup - almost invisible mounted next to he bridge - which produced the amount of gain needed to take the tiny microvolt output from the pickups to a 25 volt, peak-to-peak signal used to directly drive the Voltage-Controlled Oscillators in the GR-300 synthesizer. You can hear him utilize the synth on several songs, including the solo of "American Woman."
I dont know what you just said.. but it sounded awesome!! ROFL!!
Burton Cummings voice alone should be in the Rock and roll Hall of Fame!
I sure love this music. Man, words cannot describe the joy you guys have given me over my (very) long life. Thank you.
Burton Cummings has the best voice of his generation and that really says a lot! Love this .video, thanks for posting! I grew up with The Guess Who.
me too! They are all just amazing musicians and Burton has one of the best voices of all time in my book. I love his solo albums.
oops! Am on my son's work computer and it came up with his name. He is far too young to have grown up with the Guess Who!
His voice today is still amazing.
I love all of there songs and yeah burtons voice is perfect when he was singing
Angie Mcgillis he has a great voice. He is still to this day serious about singing at his best. Even at his age now. 👏👍
These guys bring back good memoires
That concerts about as good as it gets!!!!! Just fantastic! The memories alone are gold!!!
The Guess Who was the first album I ever bought ever. 1968 American Woman turned me on to Rock n Roll
The Guess Who was before my time, but their music is timeless.
dustyn hammonds.
Formative years were the best in the 60s but at least my grand son is wise to the grooves and wise lyrical oratorical of classic rock never to be quite replicated or imitated.
@dustyn hammonds 1970 album release.
Burton Cummings the piano player, flute player, sax player guitarist song writer......The Real Talent in this band but......He and Randy made it work. Two underrated guys.
Randy Bachman is in the top 100 lead guitarists in rock.....Like Angus, he can sort of space out when he gets into it.
Randy also had help from "Garnet" amplifiers who shaped his sound, but Randy was always a solid player with Jazz influence ala Lenny Breau.
My favorite band when I was fifteen in 1983. Still one of my faves. Burton/Randy combo rocks as does Winter. They are just so damn good but not everybody knows them for some reason.
Burton Cummings, no other voice like that. And the whole band sound is simply amazing. MARAVILLOSO The Guess Who.
Loving that GREAT CANADIAN BAND, and PROUD CANUCK FLAG!!!
Killer song to start the show
Burton Cumming's voice is 2nd to "none" when it comes to the best
rock voices the world has ever seen, and I'd put him up there with
Roger Daltry ( the Who) - Lou Gramm ( Foreigner) and a few select
others. His voice has range, and very powerful. Nobody could sing
American Woman like Burton Cummings, although some have tried.
Randy Bachman also is a great musical composer, and wrote most
of the music for these songs, and Cummings pitched in as well.
Bachman also was a fantastic guitar player -- he could do it all.
The Guess Who should definitely be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Shakin All Over......what a great song to start out with!!! EXCELLENT concert and the audience was EATING IT UP!! ;-)
Thanks for the great music and memories, Guess Who and BTO!!!
Awesome video of an amazing reunion concert. These guys are pretty tight for not having played together for 10 years. Love me some Guess Who!
Wicked
Fantastic band! Great memories!
seriously great fucking music. ps, all you bands out there, this is how you do back up vocals.! flawless!
Great show. Dec 2020. Hi folks. I was 23 when this show was done. First class entertainment
This is probably one of the greatest things I've ever stumbled upon...not old enough to have grown up with them, but old enough to have known about them / like their music for a long time. After seeing this though, I have a MUCH higher appreciation for this group. F***ing INCREDIBLE performance.
Yeah, I like watching that fat ass with the curly hair dance around the stage. He looks like the rock star version of Ron Jeremy!
check out Rush, Triumph, Chilliwack, Pagliaro. April Wine and Lighthouse just to mention a few other great Canadian bands.
One of the best concerts I've ever watched on RUclips! Unsure if I could have appreciated it in 1983 as a high school student but I sure do now in 2021! Seems every song is an outright hit! Incredible musical talent in every band member. Burton Cummings has one of the best voices of all time! ❤
incredible group.
Thank you for sharing this. I've never been lucky enough to go to say Guess Who concert. This was great. 🙂🖖💕
This is so great to see! Voices and harmonizing awesome!
One excellent pianoman Burton and good voice and the guitar Man Randy Batman thanks canadien boys
What a great swinging rendition of Clap For the Wolfman. Wow!
Fabulous group -- great concert! Thanks for the upload. One thing I never noticed before is Burton Cummings, on the chorus of "These Eyes", is playing a different rhythmic pattern on the piano from the pattern he's singing ("These eyes have seen a lotta love, but they're never gonna see another one like I had with you"). The two rhythms are close to being the same but they're just different enough to make it difficult for someone who doesn't have the right coordination. Musicians know how difficult it is to play and sing those rhythms at the same time. And on top of that, he has to do it in a few different keys since the chorus changes keys several times. Great musicianship that he makes look so easy. 1:12:05
@@bholaoates1542 how cool is this ? Randy wrote the demo on piano and played it to an impressed Burton Cummings ...
Wow! That was the first time I heard Shaking all Over with Cummings on lead vocals. The original was good but putting Cummings on lead vocals was a great decision just listen to him sing Randy's song about the garden. I've wondered for decades if I'd ever hear Shaking All Over sung by Cummings. Nothing against the original lead singer because he did a good job but Cummings had the best voice for that band.
@@joelethridge3020 that was Chad Allen he did one or two folk rock LPs later with Randy and Fred Turner in a band called Brave Belt ... They were about $75 g in debt then ... B.t.O. Came next !!! ( Sadly Chad Allen passed on about 2 years ago )
Fine drummer ! He is using so many ghost notes.
This makes it look like he is almost doing so much.
They all have a great stage act.
Randy being there is also cool. !
Thanks much.
As of 2018, The Guess Who still has not been inducted into the Rock 'n Roll of Fame, for shame!!! Nina Simone was this year, but not TGW!!! This groups contribution to rock music in the 60/70's should be recognized!!!!
@
Exactly. We the people know who is worthy of a hall of fame. And it's located in our hearts and minds, not some stupid building in bum-fuck Ohio.
