Hi, thank you so much for your very valuable information. I’ve 2 sons that are starting College this year. I did apply just now 01/17/2025 for FAFSA for the 2 of them. The one thing is that as they attended high school, they did take some College online classes. Can I apply for FAFSA while they were attending High School and taking College classes at the same time? Since FAFSA will see that I have two “kids” attending College at the same time, will they be eligible for FAFSA, perhaps receive a higher amount of my AGI is low enough, do you suggest any other grants, scholarships that we should know off? What happens if they get a part time job? How much can they earn at the most or how would that work? We live in California. Thanks a million for your reply.
When students are in dual-enrollment, they are still technically high school students...not college students. This year's FAFSA is for the 2025-2026 school year. If your students will be incoming college freshman, you were correct to apply. FAFSA won't take into account more than one student in college. You would need to address your situation with your students' financial aid office, since they may take it into consideration and offer more aid. Many scholarship organizations will provide a holistic review of your application. It's not too late to get involved with an activity and/or start your own in something that you're passionate about and will make a difference. Look for local scholarships offered in your school district and/or for the area you want to study.
