Are Sony Ericsson phones from that era (2011-2012) still usable today? I’ve heard that they no longer support anything above android 4.0 which is a real bummer because that means they are no longer WhatsApp compatible. Do you have more information ?

You can flash custom ROM with Android 4.0.4 and you can use WhatsApp
