This was originally by The Village People. Go West was the anthem to gay people in the mid 70's. West meaning San Francisco that became populated with gays.
@manay73 Actually, it's mostly based on the Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel, a baroque composer. Which in turn is where parts of the soviet anthem derives form :P
Not sure where you are getting your information from. As far as I know "Give Thanks With A Grateful Heart" was released in 1978, whereas "Go West" was released in 1979.

The tune is actually the chord progressions from Pachelbel's Famous "Canon."

@syntesen
:))) But that нимение, the song context is clear... And and oddly reminds not that-most and a hymn of the proletarian country ;)))

Soho as in NYC?
San Francisco is way greater than NYC in my opinion!!!!!

The tune for this song is a rip off of the CCM (Contemporary Christian Music) classic, "Give Thanks."
