My home office is small, just 9 x 11 feet! Not only is this an office, but it is also our tv room, guest bedroom, photography storage and more!

I am so glad you made this video. Everyone I know thinks I am strange because I don't like camping. I am so happy to find so many people who understand. I love nature, I love gardening, I am all about making my life more sustainable, but that does not mean I have to stay like a homeless person. I can hike but when I go to bed I want a real roof over my head, a real bed and a real bathroom. Thank you. Great office redo by the way.
You are changing my life. Over 2 years ago I met my now husband, and he was appalled by my clutter. I was a single Mom for nearly 10 years before meeting him and things could just never get under control, and I could handle living like that, but he couldn't. I'm so happy I found your channel. I'm still at the beginning of my journey, but I'm already wondering how I functioned so long in my organized chaos. My husband is so excited about it too.

OMG!!!! I love camping!!!! I was introduced to camping by my in laws. We did the tent thing with our kids. Then bought a tent trailer. Now we own a lot in the States with a trailer on it. It nice to get away from phones and computers for a weekend. Now our grandson's love to camp!!!
Oh, I couldn't agree with you more about the camping thing! I'm like you--I don't drink, the bugs always go after me (not my husband), and I can't stand the dirt and/or sand that gets tracked all over everything--and the smoke which makes your clothes smell until you can get home and wash them. Yeah! I can completely relate to everything you described!
So glad I'm not alone! I just don't see the appeal :)
Well, I drink. I like to drink but I'm not one for camping. Guess I never got the memo. Camping was kinda fun when I was 16. After that... Nope. Alcohol don't make me less miserable in a tent, with bugs, the cold, the dirt, then in the morning sometimes is hot like hell also, and no shower, no bathroom, is awful! Booze sometimes makes me drunk but never made me like camping one bit more.

Cas....I am with you on camping...I stood my ground at 14 years old and told my parents how much I hated camping and told
them I would never go again....and they said fine I could go without vacations....they never understood that with the other 6 people camping I was home with the pets and I had wonderful vacations....peace and quiet.....

Do It On A Dime haha so I won't keep checking from a camping organization video from do it on a dime or Clutterbug. We love camping but I have a system. It takes us 30 minutes to get out the door and 30 minutes to unpack the van. We do drink though...

Your experience from when you were young has made a lasting impression on you. We camp twice a year for Scouts and we love it. We were once invited to Long Island New York for a family 50th wedding anniversary celebration, but the cost for a hotel room was way out of our price range. Like for two nights would have cost us minimum $300 to roughly $500 for the two hotels that are on the island. The bed and breakfasts were just as expensive. So we thought outside the box, we camped at Wildwood State Park. For $150 we were able to stay there for FOUR days! We got to go swimming, hiking, fishing, paddle boating and we were even able to buy full meals at the snack shack that was literally 30 feet from our tent site, so was the bathroom/shower building. They even had horseback riding available (kids weren't big enough yet). It truly was an amazing vacation that my boys still to this day ask to do it again. And this mommy is like...."hell yeah!!!"
This space is AMAZING! You did a wonderful job styling this space. I love the color of the wall paint and the accent color pops in the space! Your organizational tips are the best. You must be proud of yourself because you did a fantastic job! Thanks for sharing!

I love camping and I don't drink either! I think it is an aquired taste to camp. You either like staying in the outdoors or you don't. Really like the desk that you found!!

I understand the dislike for camping, although I think it's fun when you're younger. Some of the best memories I have are from jumping off of a boat into a lake or using a kiddie fishing pole. It also helped that my mom signed me up to go to Girl Scout Camp for years on end. The fun part is getting to disconnect and relax in nature, although I do prefer air conditioning and protection from bugs. I'm not old enough to drink, but I imagine the joys of camping belong to the imaginative kids and the partying adults. Loved the room by the way!

I don't get camping, either. We did it once....back when we only had 4 kids....we never did it again. Nice office/sitting room! Thanks for sharing.
My husband and I just turned the guest room into "THIS" exact room, we used a corner desk and a dresser for our TV stand. We sold the guest bed and that gave us enough to purchase all needed items so it was zero cost to us. That was the best makeover eeeevah lol
YOU CRACK ME UP! I don't like to camp either. I live in Texas and I don't like the bugs, the HEAT/HUMIDITY, or the sleeping on the ground either. Not to mention the bathroom situation or the lack there of.

Yesssss 😆 Oh my Cas that was good, I could not agree more!! Jim Gaffigan has a hilarious bit about camping, something about our ancestors being campers... before they invented electricity and indoor plumbing! 🤣 Anywho, love the office and we have that same cutie little desk and it's the perfect size!

Hey camping is amazing! I never drink anything alcoholic when in nature but I frikken LOVE it!
I wake up naturally earlier than normal so I wake up about 5am-6am, make some breakfast on a Trangia (and because I have a trangia I do not have to hassle with the firewood every time I want a tea) walk around with my steaming hot teamug and watch the sunrise in beautiful places, far away from all other people and just be alone, unplug and enjoy the nature. I forage and just walk around and I friken love hiking!
Camping and hiking are my passions and I kinda grew up like that too so it is a thing I enjoy doing with my mom. I also enjoy the math and technical side of it. You have to think about how long are you going to be beyond electrical grids, watergrids and food supplies and how much you can carry at what speed and stuff like that. You need to know yourself and the nature and your limits and you are kinda super free whilst doing it. If it rains or if bugs are driving me crazy then I go inside the tent, it has a zipper on it that I keep closed at ALL times, It is very clean and tidy (in my teens my room was always so much messier than my tent), no dirt or sand inside, it is super waterproof, 3-season spacious cozy nook that is all mine. And if I set up my camp right I will be suuuuper comfortable and not even have that many bugs around me.
Having an awesome camping/hiking trip is nearly all about what spot you choose and your gear (thought there are the odd trips that are just god awful and everything is going wrong but every holiday might have that). Your camping ground cannot have stagnant or even slow moving fresh water because that makes the bug-factor go up hundredfold, It is preferred if it has a small slope and you might want to dig up a small trench around it depending on the season, NEVER camp on a field because you will be incredibly cold, go at least 10 meters into the woods, if you are going to light a fire, then it needs to have a safe fire-spot near it and take note of the wind (it can light you tent up if you are super unlucky and it can be a perfect spot otherwise, but the wind will again kill you with cold). Then there are camping gear and that is where your knowledge of yourself and your surroundings are the key; Do you sweat at nights, what is the amount that is okay for you to carry for different lengths in a day, how much food you actually will be consuming when hiking and camping, what is you favorite method of cooking and what things go with that?
There are so many things that go into camping and hiking and it is all incredibly fascinating and AFTER all of that is done, you are rested, feel like you have achieved and overcome obstacles and you are more capable then ever before and you know yourself and your surroundings and nature even better than before. It is just so good
Cas, you're the best! I love your videos. The "stayed to the end" is my most favorite. You make me feel normal. Like someone gets me. I am so done with camping too. I have been doing it for 7 years both sober and drunk either is not my cup of tea. We do tent camp but have bathrooms. But yes like you said bring your stuff to live less comfortable. Lol. Plus I am not a judging kind of person. Love ya❤️😊

Really like your office/adult sitting room. I agree wholeheartedly with you about camping. if I can't stay in a hotel, a cabin with everything would be the next best thing.

We are camping (cabin style!) over the 4th of July weekend, at the ocean. Except for food and towels, everything is provided. Small kitchen, full bath, living room with t.v. For about a dozen years we had rv's but prior to that, it was tent camping! Cabin camping is good for me, followed by a hotel. At least here, our small dog can come with! Have fun, beats tent camping!
I have been LOVING all your makeover videos! I am in the process of converting my dining room into an office and I am using the same colors! I am actually using a darker gray (Web Gray by HGTV Sherwin Williams) and I am using white furniture and Aqua accents. I also love photography and owls so I could totally see your office in my house! I love, love, love it!
I feel the same way about camping. I could "rough it" in a cabin with AC and a shower though!

I think I like the idea of camping more than actually camping. I'm horrible at cooking over a fire, hate the smell of propane, and every time I've ever camped, it's been freezing or really hot. Yet, I still hope to get a couple of trips in this summer. It's good for my kiddo to explore the outdoors, and my dog enjoys it. I like your new office!

Cute office! Camping is all about being in nature! It's not for everybody, and I can really only tolerate 1 or 2 night trips. I hope you have fun, though!

We have an R V we use for staying with family and friends it's great as we don't put them out to much.

I love Glamping! In a trailer (the hardsided kind - no pop ups or tents) with sheets and blankets and heaters and air conditioning and full hookup - water, sewer, cable, wifi, the whole shebang! You know your sheets are clean, your whole place is clean, you can shower in your own (clean) shower. You know you don't have to clean up anyone else's mess before you can enjoy yourself. Then you can go with a bunch of other people you want to spend time with (family or close friends) and do fun things together like: golfing or swimming or boating or tubing or shopping or fishing or playing cards or telling tall tales or playing corn hole - basically making memories.

LOL - I found my soul sister who feels the same way about camping that I do. My rules are that if I need shoes and a flashlight to use the bathroom in the night I DO NOT GO! Camping to me is a form of torture. Love you Cas!

You need a glamper trailer! I have 2 and love camping in them! They are both fully stocked and I can tow and back them all by myself! I have a little one (15 1/2 ft) and a larger one (19ft) and both have full bathrooms. Love them!
Oh Cas. You make me chuckle. I'm with you on the camping. We have a caravan with all mod cons. Bed ,shower,gas and electric. It's a lovely getaway. But camping .........that's pants. We call Glamping here in the U.K. Camping with all the comforts. Enjoy my lovely oh and by the way utterly fabulous videos. Keep them coming you are amazing inside and out. Have your book. I had a similar experience and it's been a powerful motivator in how I parent and the kind of mother I want to be for my kids as they grow up. I would love to hear your story💗💗💗. I completely agree with you. Every year my inlaws go camping and have always said "Oh it's so much fun, You have to go". so we went it was ok for the first time but then we went the next 4yrs and I just couldn't handle it anymore. The bugs, sleeping on the ground the dirt. I can't swim and EVERYONE else could. so I didn't get to go in the water and cool off. So we stop going. I prefer to stay in the comfort of my home and when I need cooling off I get in the pool. But our camping trips was more of a church camping. And they was always a bunch of drunks up the river around us screaming and parting all night. So I'm glad to be staying home. lol love your story's
The office/lounge/guest room looks great! I'm with you on the camping - here in the UK camping ain't fun in the rain.
I don't drink and I love camping. I do however make sure there's running water, bathrooms all over the camp ground and a hot shower within a five minute driving distance. I've been licking to find national park camping grounds that meet all of these requirements!
The building the tents and smoke and bugs is the fun stuff but maybe because I'm an outdoorsy person.

I do like camping or should say I did when I was younger but did not like all those things you talked about,if it's for a couple days its not bad for all the fun I have,but now I'm 43 don't think I'd like it as much having a RV is soooo much better. Love your office makeover it looks awesome!

My in-laws had a beautiful RV I called the Rolling Hilton - that's as close to "camping" as I'm willing to do anymore.

I love the office/grown-up sitting room! Very cute! :) As for the end rant, (which I also loved,) my family camped all though my childhood, (without any alcohol involved,) and I have great memories of those trips. We did go to campsites, though. The highlights for me involve waking up in my Grandparents' camper or in my parents' tent to the aroma of the bacon, eggs, pancakes, and hot chocolate that Grandma was preparing, playing board games with the family on the picnic tables, and of course, toasting marshmallows. The funniest memory was when we all went for a walk, then returned to find that our watermelon that had been cut, but covered with plastic wrap, had been snacked on by some critter. A little later, a few chipmonks dropped by, their little faces all red with watermelon juice. It was soooo funny! :) Now that I am 48 years old, I want a REAL mattress to sleep on, though. :)

I love camping. Real camping, in the bush with the wildlife (and its Wild coz I love in Australia), not manicured campground, people packed in like sardines, powered sites-type camping. But I hate packing for camping. And unpacking at the other end. I love the fire, I love the relaxation and sitting around outdoors sitting nothing. And my kids run all day 😆. But it's not for everyone.
